"Creative cuisine fusing Japanese, Korean and French culinary traditions is infused with the passion of Yoko Kimoto, a chef with both Japanese and Korean DNA. The restaurant’s name is a reference to the vital role the hyena plays in its ecosystem: Kimoto feels an affinity with hyenas, which are led by the females. In this old house, Kimoto offers an experience that mixes new values and cultures through people and cuisine, respecting the principle of diversity and inclusion." - Michelin Inspector

In a 75 years old house in Omatesando. Little French Japanese fusion Resturant, everything is good. However, I would advise not to opt in on the add on as they takeout the original ingredient (so if you add musto they take away the fish). I don’t think the add on are worth the extra

An amazing dinning experience. The restaurant is small and intimate. The chef explains the ingredients in each meal to you, and you get to watch the cooking / preparation. The flavours were delicious - with the signature potato dish a stand out. We didn’t do the matching wine pairings, instead we drank at our own pace with the chef recommending options based on our preferred wines AND what would work well with the food. Very accomodating to foreigners, everything was prepared in English for us so we got the full experience.

Great experience from the food to the chefs. Lovely intimate dining experience right in the kitchen. Potato, cod milt, and pork were standouts.

A hidden gem in the back streets between Omotesando, Cat Street and Aoyama Dori, this 8 counter seating restaurant is passionately run by a chef and a team of two helping in the kitchen and with the drinks. Creative menu, fusion of French and Japanese with Korean influence, focusing on seasonal ingredients and produce. Interesting pairing option with sake, wine and spirits. Flavours are intense and the fusion works very synergistically. Portions are adequate and you will feel full after the course. Dessert was exceptionally good. Attentive and personal service. The only improvement point is the very small drink servings, ranging between half to 2/3 of a standard glass elsewhere in Japan.

My favorite restaurant in Tokyo. What a hidden gem. I'm surprised they don't have any Michelin star yet. I loved the course they have prepared - this menu changes every season so I can't wait to go back to Japan to try. The white miso foie gras on brioche was LIFE CHANGING and memorable. I love it so much I wished I cld re-create it back home. Would definitely visit again

The chef has very good palate and morals. I believe they lowered their price because of the health condition of the chef and they had to reduce the courses but the price was too low/reasonable. The flavors here are very balanced and delicate when factoring the geo diverse inspiration of the courses. Seasonality was kept in consideration with good uses of tomato and eggplant. The standout was the drink pairing. I don’t recall ever being more impressed with a pairing which speaks volumes about the chef’s palate. None of the drinks by themselves were standouts per se but when matched with the courses turned into rockstars. Very unpretentious as some of the staff were newer/nervous to be in such proximity to the dining guests. As a customer facing chef myself I found it cute.

Dinner reserved for two people. We’re seated at the very end of the counter, in an extremely cramped space. I’m sitting right in the passageway, facing the oven, literally one foot inside the kitchen. We order, and our glasses of wine arrive. I move the tray that’s on the counter and pull my chair slightly closer to the person I’m dining with. And then.. it’s a disaster. The chef behaves with unbelievable rudeness. He immediately moves my tray and glass back into place, asking me to “shift over”…?! 1. I eat, set my glass down, and eat however I please. Are you going to teach me how to hold my fork too? 2. What gives you the right to act with such arrogance? 3. I’m paying to eat comfortably, not to sit in the middle of the kitchen. The food is fine : good, but unsurprising and certainly doesn’t justify the bill. Service and hospitality are virtually nonexistent. We live ten minutes away on foot, and we won’t be coming back. P.S. No need to reply with your usual copy-paste response.
