Montreal’s Best Greek Restaurants - Eater Montreal

"For those looking for a break from the traditional, Ikanos chef Constant Mentzas takes the cuisine’s cornerstone of seafood and adds creative elements like rhubarb ponzu, rose hip emulsions, and the occasional slice of foie gras. But the restaurant doesn’t forget its roots: The menu also features standards like mezze, , and fish, both fresh and aged, cooked off on a charcoal-fired Josper grill." - JP Karwacki

We loved this place! We went around noon and restaurant was empty. The service was good and fast. We tried a bit of everything and everything was so good. The grilled octopus was the best dish from presentation to taste. We also loved three sauces (cheese), potatoes, mashed potatoes and fried zucchini. The fish was very well prepared and light. As a seafood lover I enjoyed dining here. It reminds me of Europe, of sea and summer. I wish it wasn't that expensive but highly recommended for seafood. We will go back!

Google
Had a great evening here to celebrate a project completion. Staff were friendly and provided us the attention despite the larger group. After a bit of a wait, the food came. The squid, calamari and lobster were a hit! I also enjoyed the appetizers with the delicious dips. I thought the fish, believe it was sea bass, was ok and a bit on the overcooked side. But overall good experience.

Google
Wonderful seafood options, guaranteed delicious meal. Went with their tasting experience which was 3 shared courses between two of us, plus a shared dessert. All meal items were delicious, with the dessert slightly underwhelming in comparison to the rest. It's an expensive restaurant, the tasting experience being 96 dollars a head, and one might question the cost when evaluating the simplicity of what's on the table in front of them. An entire sea bass and a pound of octopus and squid probably adds up. Either way expect to spend around $70-$100 for an average a la carte order. That being said, portion sizes are good and flavours are wonderful. I left overly full and satisfied. I do recommend the tasting experience if you can fork out 96 dollars. To note: the fish plate did not come presented like that, it was an entire sea bass on a shared platter which was portioned out onto our plates by our server. Best fish I've had all year easily. On the side was charred/grilled leeks, which were very good also.

Not the first time at Ikanos, and the experience is still great. Service staff is excellent, and ambiance is very nice. Also not too uptight and nicely casual. The star here for me is the seafood platter. That plus a side and a starter is probably the best value. There is a 22oz steak to share that I haven't tried yet which could be great, but I feel like having steak at Ikanos is betraying the main reason to go there. A surf n turf is probably a really good idea though! The fish is also good. $71 for Seabass can be a bit off putting, but if it's indeed a fresh import, cooked in the wood oven, served full at the table deboned, I can see how you get to that price. Oyster black garlic mushrooms were good, but you can skip it. It's nice in moderation but don't need that big of a plate of it. It would be much nicer to have 2 smaller sides than a big side of that. Else, the Greek salad looked nice. Ikanos does (or did pre-covid) have very nice value for lunch though, so you could try that too. That is all! Congrats on reopening successfully!

Google
Waiters were classy and informative. They serve different kinds of oysters and both were delicious and high-quality. Steak was very flavourful and scrumptious. Had an amazing fine-dining experience there!

Hands down the best service I've ever received in Montreal. Warm moist towelettes given between each service, every dish meticulously explain, I can't even begin to describe the taste, you'll have to try it for yourselves, every bite brought me to a different place, an absolute sensory overload. They have an inexpensive lunch menu and a mesmerizing tasting menu. If I died and went to heaven, this is what the dining experience would feel like it. This restaurant deserves a Michelin star. This is where I send friends and family when the ask for a dining recommendation.

Google
Beautiful decor, great service. Presentation of each plate was appetizing. The waiter took the time to explain each course. Slightly pricey however worth the experience. Initially seemed small in terms of portions but appetite was satisfied rather rapidly. Overall ambiance was warm and welcoming and food was delicious. Definitely recommend!

Google
Wow what an amazing restaurant! We had a delicious 7 course meal that was part of the festival in February (I can't remember the name!) Staff was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the sources of the food! Restaurant gets busy an hour after opening too so get there early!! Food is SO FRESH!! Was such a treat being here!! Lots of seating and the interior is very modern and formal.

Yelp
Garde Cote was recommended to us by Hotel Nelligan as we we couldn't get into Joe Beef. We were wonderfully surprised by this choice, and turned out to be a quality meal. The manager/owner made sure to sell us a carry of great options to create our own custom tasting menu that accommodated our allergies. The Chilean sea bass was absolutely amazing, as well as the sides and dips! Be sure to give them a try

Yelp
What is a vacation without formal night? There's complaints about the speed of things, but if you want fast food, there's a McDonalds around the area. This is about slowing it down, and savoring the company you're with, the food, the drink and the environment, just sit back and enjoy the ride. Service was very welcoming and warm, merci! We had a party of 7 Had 1 app, and 3 mains, which each come with a side and 2 bottles of wine, which I highly recommend. Our only regret is not getting dessert, but with definitely come back to Ikanos next time I am in Montreal C'est Bon!

Yelp
Disappointing overall. Tuna steak wasn't cooked properly and the chef came out and explained (didn't make sense). Food overall was disappointing for the price. I just think there are better options. I think they should have made it right (I am not interested in free stuff). They just didn't do anything. I won't be back.

Yelp
My search for VERY high quality sushi in Montreal is finally over! You might think it's odd that a Greek seafood place would expand their menu to Japanese, unless of course you've had the larger tasting menu that usually features several tasty sashimi's. Ikanos sources their fish as a global importer, selecting the best the world has to offer: Canadian, French, Japanese, etc. The execution is fantastic, with each dish having unique flavours and textures. I particularly enjoyed the Nigiri, each piece was fresh and vibrant, topped with flavourful morsels that complimented the dish beautifully. Wow! For the sake of constructive feedback, I would go a little lighter on the rice, but that's me... If you love sushi, check out the new offerings from Ikanos!

Yelp
Taking the time to savor wine , bubbles and the beginning of a good evening with friends . let me know where you like to go to have a great drink . I had the pleasure to celebrate the 5th year of @ikanos_mtl they had an excellent service and great appetizers that can only tease you. (so good) I must say the celebration was phenomenal. . .for my wine followers, they have a great choices of good wine. They do their own import. that evening was showing of an excellent greek wine Skouras. I liked it. .

Yelp
A 4.5 points from yelpers of course get me to the last dinner meal I am in Montreal. As I got the menu, I realized half of the menu is grilled items. I got 9 fresh oysters, saumon, scallop with foie gras for the appetizer, and a grilled seafood platter for main course. The grilled seafood platter is enough for 2 people. By the way, It is almost all grilled items are enough for 2 people. The prawns, scallop, octopus are all fresh, but I personally don't like too much grilled seafood at one dinner. A bit too plain because it only has one flavour. The oysters are fresh, but the other two appetizers are nothing too special. If a person likes grilled seafood or grilled meats, I do recommend him/her to give a try, but for me, it might not be the first priority choice for me.

Susan B.

Yelp
We did not particularly like this restaurant. The menu was hard to decipher and we felt it was quite limited. We had the hummus plate but not enough pitas to finish. We had the whole fish for two but we found it small for 2 people. Sad Ed went here on our last night. We ordered dessert and the waiter forgot so we skipped it.

Yelp
I was invited to try Ikanos' new peach inspired menu launch this week. What an amazing celebration of the peach! I've always liked peaches but I didn't realize how versatile this fruit is until I tried this menu. It paired perfectly with savoury and sweet foods. The fish ceviche bite was bright with citrus and I loved the sweetness coming through from the peaches. They also served a peach mimosa style drink to begin the evening which was yummy and refreshing. The peach gazpacho was smooth and sweet and paired very well with the matane shrimp. The only thing that would have brought it to another level for me is if some spice would've been added. Next up was a delicious pan seared fish served with seasonal veggies and grilled peaches. Amazinnggg flavours. The duck course that came next was wasted on me as I do not enjoy duck but presentation was great and others like it. My fave was unsurprisingly dessert! The dark chocolate and sea salt bar with peach sorbet was too delicious - I cleaned my plate! Overall, great experience in this beautiful location.

Yelp
I have eaten at too many restaurants at one point weighing 240lbs... this place exceeds the 5 star rating because: Great staff really care to take time to get you a drink or wine and explain the menu BUT THE ZUCCHINI APPETIZER AND CHEESE IN FIG JAM WAS UNBELIEVABLE THEN WE SHARED THE SEA BASS WHICH WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD The desert was back-lava(I can't spell) Go there don't get distracted see my pictures especially the ones with the owner and best waiter in Canada

Yelp
I ate here several times and was never disappointed. I give it two thumbs up for service, food, ambiance and presentation. I had a delicious quinoa salad and a wonderful coquille st- Jacques. If you're looking for a trendy Greek restaurant in the old port make sure to pass by.

Yelp
Perfectly seared cod , but i was not impressed by the trimmings. The herbs overpowered the freshness of the mango salsa. I did not really taste the mango... The avocado purée was too thick in the mouth. It didnt blend in well with the fish. Also , i would have preferred a mousse or a lighter avocado purée to maximize the flavor of the fish.

Yelp
We arrived for Dinner at around 7 pm and got a lovely table for 7 people. Service was excellent and the atmosphere and staff very friendly. Food was fresh and cooked to perfection. The large grilled shrimps and the lamb chops are absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed two orders of fish/grilled sea bass. Salads are a good starter and prepared with fresh ingredients. We definitely will come back at our next stop in Montreal.

Yelp
Technically we flew to Montreal for dinner, but as it turns out this brunch was the star of the show (ok, both meals were epic, but this place surprised me). My fiance was in charge of planning the trip and found this spot online had good reviews and oysters, so he was sold, and made a reservation for 11am on the Sunday. Turns out it was only their second Sunday doing their brunch menu, so I was pleased to be ahead of the crowd lol. We ended up wandering in at 10:30am right when they opened and were seated immediately, since we were the first customers of the day. Others did arrive soon after 11am, but it never got that packed, I assume because brunch is new for them. Two things to note first - the staff was amazing, super friendly, helpful, appeared at all the right times, and the ambiance was great. Definitely my decor style! For food, we opted to start with a dozen OYSTERS. They were featuring 3 different kinds (I think all from PEI) so we did 4 of each. I found the shucking to be great, and all 3 different kinds were delicious. Next up, we split a Half Sized GREEK SALAD. A nice serving size, and very authentic with no lettuce. Could have used a splash of vinegar or something for tang, but overall it was nice. We didn't finish it as our entrees arrived soon after. He opted for the PORCHETTA dish and I went with SHRIMP dish. His porchetta was perfectly cooked and kept raving about the dish, from the broccoli rabe to the poached egg which was also perfectly cooked. My SHRIMP dish was awesome as well, and thankfully the sausage wasn't overwhelming and really completed the dish. The dipping bread on the side was perfect for slopping up all of the goodness here!! Wow, totally forgot about drinks lol. He did the Ouzo/Coffee drink which was like a milkshake and he loved. I did the Grand Marnier drink with Orange Juice and Egg Whites, which didn't wow me at first, but I ended up loving towards the end. A must do for Brunch if you're in the area!

Yelp
Wow this place was amazing! The food and the service was just incredible! I loved the fried zucchini which tasted so fresh and crispy. We shared, for two, a mix sea food platter and it was more than enough to be quite full. The seafood was so well done and so tasty it just melted in your mouth. The experience was quite nice as the waiters were really attentive to our needs.

Yelp
Pricey. But the food was great. We loved everything we had. A great experience in Montreal

Yelp
I'd been to Ikanos a few years ago when it first opened and thought it was good but not great. Had a chance to revisit it when we went recently for a group work dinner, and they have really hit their stride. Because we were a big group, we took the tasting menu. Started off with thin slices of fried zucchini , lightly battered and seasoned with dill and salt. So good. So, so good. I think I could have eaten a big bowl of those and called it dinner. There were also some eggplant and roasted pepper spreads with pita, but I was all about the zucchini. Next up was a seafood platter, with grilled and fried calamari (fried better), perfectly grilled scallops and shrimps. All good. The star of the night was the third course, the fish. Mediterranean Sea bass, expertly filleted and served whole. Probably the best fish I've had in a restaurant in years. Cooked to perfection, it was buttery, flavourful and rich. Served with a simple Greek salad which complemented it well. A perfect example of great a meal can be with simple high quality quality ingredients expertly prepared. Final course was traditional Greek loukoumades, perfectly fine, but anything was going to be anticlimactic after that fish. Plus I was too full to eat more than a few. The cocktail I had was ok, but a little sweet for my taste. The wine list is on the shorter side, and features several Greek wines. We had a very nice Greek white, and a French red. Decor is chic and relaxed. Service was well paced and attentive, and the manager came over more than once to check on our group.

Yelp
I came to Montreal from Los Angeles as part of my McGill homecoming. Ikanos came highly recommended by our San Fran foodie friends. Well, Ikanos did not disappoint. The menu is superb, the meals were artfully prepared and delicious, and the staff is beyond gracious. Also A lovely ambiance in Vieux Montréal! 5 well-deserved stars.

Joe X.

Yelp
Amazing food and service, truly Michelin quality. I especially enjoyed the various sashimis and raw fish. The preparation was impeccable and flavor profile super unique. I also had the grilled Mediterranean bass, which was perfect.
google avatar

Josh E.

Yelp
Came to this place because it was the closest place to where we were walking at the time and my wife is Greek...so why not right? Was a bit nervous at first since it was practically empty on a Sunday night but let me tell you it was the best meal I've had in awhile. The atmosphere is perfect, the food plentiful and flavorful, the service was second to none and we had the best time. They cook with a Josper oven and use the same oven for multiple things so the flavors are continuous and complex. Do go here!

Yelp
Went to Ikanos for MTL à table. They offered a 41$ menu. To be honest, for some weird reason, I wasn't excited at first when I read the menu. But when I tasted the food, it was a whole different story! So many flavours all at once. Everything is prepared so delicately.. whatever is on your plate, the flavour is there, full and delicate at the same time. And when you mix the different elements of the plate in a same bite, just wow! Everything was well prepared (the veal was melting in my mouth, the fish was perfectly cooked,...). It was a great experience!

Yelp
An absolutely amazing find in the Old Port. I must have said "WOW" about a dozen times and that was just about the scallop! The most perfectly prepared, sweet, succulent, buttery, piece of heavenly deliciousness (is that even a thing??). Everything was simply perfection! The Octopus - O M G ... ok not sure what's more of an "OMG" the scallop or the octopus but believe you me, both are a MUST. The desserts were fantastic - beignets are also a must, try not to eat your fingers! The staff - you guys are a gem! Super friendly, super accommodating, super - well, just awesome!!! Thank you to the staff and the amazing chef!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my my. This place is special. It's not over the top gourmet, but the chef is certainly talented. We tried several dishes and they went far out of their way to ensure my vegetarian wife was happy with her options. The angus steak was perfectly dry rubbed and had just the right level of seasoning. We got some pita-like bread with black sesame seeds and oil, which was awesome as well. Lastly, the SAGANAKI cannot be missed! If we find ourselves here again, we will certainly be back. Fantastic modern greek food.
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
Ikanos is a great Greek restaurant in the old port area. They offer a fantastic brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 to 3:00. I've been here several times and I like that the menu changes. The Frittata with duck and mushrooms is one of my favorites. There sauce trio including the tzatziki is homemade, even the bread! They also have accommodations for vegetarians. They have a nice little terrace in the summer. The staff was super helpful and friendly. They can accommodate a room for 50-60 people closed off. In the back 20-30 people for smaller parties. There is a late night menu.
google avatar

Kace S.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had in my life! My mom and I went for dinner shortly after Valentine's Day and they had the v-day prix fixe menu still available. My mom loves seafood and I love steak... the price fixe menu had both and on top of that, fois gras and truffles! I was a unique combination of fresh, raw and cooked plates. Every bite was unique and delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better menu/meal. The price was a bit high but well worth the variety and flavours it offered.
google avatar

Collin G.

Yelp
The lunch menu is actually well priced and equally as good as dinner. Would strongly recommend the squid ink risotto. Dinner is also extremely good but be ready to go through 250 for two people if you want all the bells and whistles with your meal.

Yelp
We stumbled on IKanos on Aug 4th and we got lucky! The waiter(I wish I got his name) was amazing. He was friendly, courteous and helpful. He explained how the menu worked and made some great recommendations, even for my fussy son. Everything we had was delicious, from start to finish. My son who's usually not thrilled with vegetables really enjoyed the zucchini. The seafood platter was fresh, tender and tasty. The fish was succulent and beautifully seasoned, I wanted more! I have to mention that the sauces and dips that came with these dishes were so flavourful as well. The Greek donuts were light and the combination of honey with yogurt were perfect, not too sweet. My son just devoured them. Highly recommend the $96 per person package because it includes the seafood platter and well worth it. Best meal we had in Montreal!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food but expensive! I have been here before but forgot that the prices were so high. A lot of the main dishes (fish mostly) were priced for 2. (60$+) for most fish. So if you want fish and someone wants something else you are out of luck. The best way to go is order the many mezze which allows you to,try many things and stay within budget. We ordered the zucchini chips as a starter and they were perfect and not greasy at all. We continued with a greek salad and a Loup de mer which was perfectly done. All this with a generous pour of a glass of Greek white wine made for an enjoyable evening. Service was professional throughout the meal but nothing fantastic. Ambiance is nice with music not too loud. I did see a flambé at a table next to us which i would have loved to try. Next time!! https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g155032-d6787005-r339609182-Ikanos-Montreal_Quebec.html#

Yelp
I went to this place after 22h They have a special where you can share 4 mezzes (tapas size plates) between 2 people for 24$ each (Thursday to Saturday) It's an upscale modern Greek restaurant with beautiful decor. We shared the tuna, lamb, snowcrab and the saganaki. The tuna and snowcrab was fresh and tasty. I wasn't crazy about the lamb. The saganaki is a statement by itself. I love love love it. This restaurant is on the pricey side but you pay for the quality.

Yelp
Greek fusion cuisine at its best. This stylish restaurant offers a wide variety of cocktails and aims to impress. This unique take on Greek cuisine gives them a flair that i have rarely seen from Montreal's Greek community. I enjoyed it immensely. Whether it was the fried Saganaki with jelly, the stuffed Zucchini, or the Lam tartar they were inventive at every step of the meal. Both mains were from the sea, and their wine pairings were perfect. Their high prices almost cost them a star, but the food won the day. Great choice for fine dining in the old port.

Patricia S.

Yelp
Kitchen is doing an excellent job, but the front of house could use some work. Came in on a relatively quiet Saturday night. Restaurant was only about half full, yet the waitstaff was running around like they were chickens with their heads cut off. Everyone was kind and the food was delicious, but the experience was tainted by the lack of attention, communication and efficiency.

Yelp
I had an amazing culinary experience during my last visit to Ikanos, with plently of dishes full of thought and flavours and beautifully presented. Every dish was composed of multiple ingredients which I never would have thought of putting together, but Ikanos prepares everything so well that it all comes together in wonderful and delectable dishes. My favorites were definitely the ricotta cavatelli; one of the best pasta dishes I've ever eaten. I loved the trio of sauces too, served with homemade pita bread. The grilled calamari were excellent. The lobster and scallop mezzes were delicious and full of complexity. I also enjoyed the service which was very attentive; our cutlery and dishes were changed after each service. As well, the waitress who served the majority of our dishes was very nice and explained very well everything that we ate and the composition of every dish. I highly recommend Ikanos to any Greek food lovers out there, looking for something better than a Marathon souvlaki kind of experience. Ikanos prepares amazing modern Greek dishes, full of different flavours and freshness! For my full review and more photos, check out my blog: Turquoise Blog (link in bio!)

Yelp
Just FANTASTIC! Fried zucchini was beyond my expectation. Just fried zucchini but the sauce made it out of the space. Seafood platter was amazing. All cooked so loved it! Steak was great too.... for party of 2, we only ordered three plates and left so full. (3hrs passed and i am still full) their cocktail is more than usual but its worth it bc the size is bigger lol if you compare by size then their cocktail is cheap. We arrived around 5:30 so no other guests so it was nice. Definitely a place to go back! Service was great but little slow but it was nice. Totally recommend this place!!!

Yelp
food 4/5 decor 5/5 staff&service 4/5 This restaurant had been on my radar for a while so we jumped on the ocasion when we saw they came back with a MTL à Table menu: 41$ per person for tapas style dishes and an extra 8$ per person for the full sea bass. The kitchen is located right under the dining area so when walking in you can see the chefs doing their work. Our reservations were ay 8:30PM on a friday and we were seated immediately. All cocktails are 13$ and an extensive wine list, but with limited 'per glass' options. The presentation and flavours of the tapas were exquisite and very fresh. The sea bass, unfortunately, was slightly disappointing. The fish was soaked in olive oil and the presentation wasn't as beautiful as the tapas (see pictures included). Fig smash cocktail: 13$ Hella Cobbler cocktail: 13$ MTL à Table menu: 2 x 41$ extra for full sea bass option: 2 x 8$ Total bill including tip and tax was 164$.The service for the food was quick, despite the full-house they had but we found to have waited a long time for our drinks and for grabbing the check. I noticed they have a 22$ fixed price 3-course menu for lunch so I intend on coming back.

Andre D.

Yelp
Delicious meal, full of flavour and texture. The service was quick and polite, the ambience is not overly fancy, just fancy enough. We had the beef shank, which was cut into slice, the calamari (fried), and a Greek salad. All was really tasty! Recommended.

Yelp
I love Greek food, especially grilled fresh fish. This place does not disappoint. The grilled sea bass is outstanding. The grilled seafood platter is amazing. It comprises grilled octopus, calamari, scallops and giant shrimps. It's for two, but we ordered it as one of the starters and shared it among four of us. Truly sumptuous. Other notable main course at our table included the homemade pasta and grilled fish... all amazing.

Jason B.

Yelp
I really wanted to like Ikanos but it was by far the most disappointing experience I had in Montreal. There's an obvious potential for the food to be considered excellent but the lack of service, quality controls and health violations keep Ikanos well below the standard they should be at. While the dining room has a clean and chic atmosphere, I was put off with the amount of flies buzzing around. At one point I went to the rest room and there was a fly in there as well. Our main server was brusque and inattentive. My expectation for fine dining is my server has a genial attitude and provides the feeling of being taken care of. He seemed irritated taking our order. No one filled our waters nor asked to see how we were enjoying our lunch. This is a shame because my main came out cold. The walleye with roasted carrots, carrot purée, and carrot gel should have been a star item but receiving it cold was a total disappointment. We could hear the servers laughing in the back but couldn't actually see them to raise this concern. The most disappointing part of the experience was watching one of the cooks empty his nose into a napkin, then without washing his hands continues to work the line. Beyond being gross, if he has a cold now he's spreading his germs. Sorry but I'm not paying $100 lunch for two to get sick. The chef was speaking to this cook while he was blowing his nose and said nothing, so to me this says Ikano's really lacks the fundamentals of health and safety. Considering there were only three other tables they have no excuse for sending me a cold plate either. I would give them a second chance on the food/service but not after their lack of care regarding health and safety.

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance, mouth watering fresh seafood and genuine service. Fresh and fulfilling salmon, calamari, octopus and scallops. Excellent, charming and hospitable service. Ended the evening with a OliveOil desert that left me wanting more. Definitely returning.

Yelp
I wanted to try this restaurant. Noticing a promotion I was happy to use it as an escuse to bring my 12 year old daughter for a nice March break lunch. I wanted to try the restaurant and hopefully return with my husband for a future dinner. When I tried to make a reservation citing the promotion (https://www.montrealenlumiere.com/payyourage) I was put on with the "promotion manager" who said there was not such promotion even after I gave the web address. I was informed they are kid friendly and a price could be worked out and did I still want the reservation. Though I would have gladly payed the adult price for my daughter I did not like being argued with. The manager even called me back saying the promotion was from 2016. I'll be taking my daughter to somewhere else for a fine dining lunch.

Yelp
Went here with a super good Groupon deal so I can't vouch for the price. We had a great tasting menu including a very nice apéro. The grilled octopus is the best I've ever had and over a year later I still won't shut up about it. Everything we ate was delicious, fresh and flavourful. I now spend my life waiting for that deal to reappear because I'm cheap.

Yelp
Location: In the city's old port. Street parking is available (metered) but finding a spot is hit or miss. You may be able to find un-metered parking on some streets but check the signage. Square Victoria (orange line) is a 5-minute walk. The place: Nice space, high ceilings. It's got a comfortable vibe and is neither pretentious or overrun by hipsters. There's a bar area as well as the main dining area. My friend commented that she would have preferred Greek music to what was being played, and I agreed. The goods: We shared a variety of mezzes as well as the main. To start, we had the sauce trio: Tzatziki, Tyrokafteri, Melitzanosalata served with homemade grilled pita. I enjoyed all of them but hold a special place in my heart for the Tzatziki because it was pretty damn good. Were it not for my date's potential judgement of me, I would have dug in with a spoon. While I am not a huge bread eater, I quite enjoyed the pita - it was fresh and tasty. I think four were served but I just saw one - my date downed those things like they were going out of style! We also ordered the fried zucchini, which I liked, though I did find the batter to be too soft - similar to Tempura but less crispy. Aside from this, this mezze was bursting with flavor. Finally, we ordered the gnocchi, which I found to be lackluster. Beautiful presentation but low on flavor. As our main, we shared the sea fish. Why am I calling it the sea fish, you ask? Because I don't remember if it was the sea bream or the sea bass. Regardless, it was delicious and served with seasonal veggies. For dessert we ordered the Loukoumades doughnuts. Now, I'm not a doughnut person, and if I'm being honest, I didn't particularity have any room left for dessert. I was talked into dessert and decided it was in my readers' best interest to take one for the team. These doughnuts are the shit. For REAL. Just order them because you won't be disappointed. My date only had 2 which means I basically ate like, 7 but don't tell my trainer! Service: OK. Price point: With taxes & tip split two ways, the bill was $88 each. Not too bad if you want to splurge once in a while.

Yelp
Interesting savors, not very authentic Greek having been to Grece, but original, we had the Montreal a Table tasting menu; the hummus with pickled mushroon was very good, i had for main the lamb very crispy was a small portion, the other is a squid risotto, could have more permasan it was a bit blend, needed some acidity to cut with the creaminess. The desert was ok nothing amazing. Would be back to try the regular menu.

Yelp
This is hands down the best Greek restaurant we've ever been to, ever. We've been there 3 times now - and it's consistently excellent. This time, we had saganaki to start, and shared a grilled seafood platter - with a chocolate mousse and homemade donuts for dessert. My lord, every bite of everything was so succulent, so perfectly cooked. The portions are smaller, as all fine dining is, but you feel full at the end of the meal. Ambiance is amazing, and service is on point. The wait staff are incredibly professional and knowledgeable of the menu items. Price-wise, it's actually not bad. We had 1 bottle of wine, 1 appetizer, 1 platter (for 2), and 2 desserts - costed us $210.00 CAD including a 25% tip. This is always a stop when we visit Montreal, and will always continue to be.

Yelp
Went to Ikanos for a business lunch. This is a beautiful restaurant located on McGil Stl in the Old Port. The service was excellent. Prompt and courteous, no complaints there. The food was excellent as well. I took the salmon tartare as the first course, and the fish parmentier as the main course. Everything was well executed and seasoned. My only complaint is the size of the portions. At this price level, I would expect slightly bigger portions. The tartare was done in two bites, and the parmentier was not even a half-inch thick. I was definitely still hungry after lunch, and I'm not the hungriest eater in general. I would still go back because the food is great, but I'm certainly hoping that they will re-adjust the portions a little bit. Leaving your patrons hungry is not a good thing!

Yelp
This classic Greek restaurant is situated in the Old Port. The decor and the ambience was pleasant. My friend and I came on a Friday night and the restaurant was fully booked. We ordered five appetizers, cocktails and desert. The food was delicious and very well prepared but they didn't accommodate my food allergies I specified. Service was extremely slow and it took around three hours for the entire service which I found to be quite ridiculous. I'm sure it was a busy night but I'm not sure I would come again.

Yelp
My wife and mother-in-law ate here and this will definitely be a place we come back to when we return to Montreal. Our visit would actually qualify as an experience and one of our favorite after spending five days in the City. Our server was Cedric and he was absolutely phenomenal. We took many of his suggestions and they were all spot on. Perhaps I should have listened when he said their plates were meant for sharing, but I don't know what I would have changed because we loved everything. We had the seafood platter, which had Octopus, scallops, calamari and shrimp. All of it was terrific but the Octopus was special. Never had it before and it's something I'll look for in menus now. We also got the sea bass which was also tremendous and my mother-in-law ordered the shrimp. So there were lots of huge shrimp. From the appetizers we tried the trio sauces which were excellent and the scallops which were prepared differently from the the seafood platter and well worth it. Yes, we even did dessert but by that point I was in a good coma and can't even recall what we had. We were there for hours! But it went by so quickly because we trusted Cedric who took us on a wine and culinary tour we be sure to come back for. Would have been something if we had discovered this place on the first night. It would have been a weekend of fresh seafood and vegetables, which my wife would have loved. The inside is meticulously decorated and adds to a very cool ambiance that is relaxing and..well, like I said, we were there for hours and Cedric and the other gentleman who waited on us were super friendly and gracious. Just go.

Yelp
Celebrated a colleagues birthday over lunch at Ikanos. Service was great, they accommodated my colleagues dietary needs. Starter incl two huge grilled shrimp with lobster mayo, a refreshing fennel salad and orange segments- forgot to take a photo! Our main courses: two big cod ravioli served with mussels, chorizo and leek; Fregola pasta with mushrooms and artichokes and the best was grilled steak served with fiddleheads, Jerusalem artichokes and fingerling potatoes. Great meal for $24 table d'hote. Macarons and pear crumble for dessert. Will definately be returning.

Yelp
What a delightful new discovery on McGill Street. Amazing food, ambience and service. For two, we were suggested to order 6-7 mezzes. Each dish consisted of the freshest ingredients with very original flair, some Greek and others not so Greek, more contemporary. Everything was very delicious. Check out the photos! We are going back later this week with a larger group to try more!!!

Yelp
I really enjoy stopping by after the sauna a block away. I always get the lamb, the greek salad, and a small plate of duck.
