"This is the sister restaurant of chef Julien Lemarié's MICHELIN-starred Japanese-style restaurant (IMA). At lunchtime, in a relaxed atmosphere, you can enjoy a variety of Japanese donburi – a bowl of rice with toppings that vary according to the season or inspiration. In the evening, French dishes are skilfully revisited with a Japanese touch, such as leeks with miso and katsuobushi vinaigrette. The service comes with a smile!" - Michelin Inspector

"“Cooking has always been a means of travel for me”, explains chef Julien Lemarié, who has plied his trade in London, Tokyo and Singapore. At his restaurant, Ima, which means “now” in Japanese, this talented culinary technician conjures up instinctive cuisine showcased on tasting menus that combine subtlety with regional and Asian influences. Lemarié enhances his dishes with broths, infusions, spices, aromatic plants and algae. And for those keen to enjoy the full Japanese experience, make sure you take a seat at the bar. It's now your turn to travel!" - Michelin Inspector

Highly recommend! The food was creative, with a great balance of flavors and textures that really delighted my taste buds. The ambiance was just on point, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The service was warm, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure all my needs were met throughout the meal. Overall, I would highly recommend IMA to anyone looking for a dining experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a great meal with friends or family, this restaurant truly delivers. I can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious dishes!

This was overall a very disappointing experience! We had high expectations for this Michelin-starred restaurant, and unfortunately, our experience fell far short of what we expected. From the moment we arrived, the service was cold and inattentive. We were not asked if we wanted anything to drink before serving the food. We opted for the wine pairing they suggested and were were only served a few dishes in. The staff’s demeanor was cold and impersonal, and they made little effort to engage with us and were indifferent to whether or not we enjoyed our meal. The food itself was underwhelming. While the savory courses were okay, there was little harmony and a lack of creativity. The desserts were particularly disappointing, to say the least. For a high-end restaurant, we expected much more care and attention, both in terms of service and the overall culinary experience. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to what we had hoped for and we left feeling underwhelmed and let down.

First time visiting since the restaurant got a makeover and I have to say it feels ecen nicer now. The food is still top notch and the wine accord is very carefully crafted, in order to either elevate or ,sometimes, alleviate some of the richness of the dish. Definitely worth the experience

Food and wine pairing was fantastic. Service was seamless and despite being seated next to a client with visible signs of Covid, the team handled our request to move very elegantly and provided an excellent solution. Special mention to Georgia who was fantastic.

A truly must-try gastronomic experience. This small, charming place hosted us for a quick lunch in the midst of August. There were only a few tables, and the service was relaxed yet attentive. They offered a limited selection of carefully chosen dishes on the menu, which costs just 22 euros for lunch. The standout dish was a bowl with crispy yet tender pork over rice, and it was amazing. The dessert included a variety of well-crafted gelato flavors, and it was equally fantastic. Big shoutout to the ladies who made this unexpected taste adventure possible with their know-how.

I recently visited IMA Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with their expertise in cooking with ginger, galangal, and other Asian spices. The flavors of their dishes were simply divine, and I could taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. It's no surprise that they have been awarded a Michelin star and "étoile verte" for their commitment to sustainability. Apart from the food, I was also taken aback by the restaurant's ambiance and location. It was a perfect blend of contemporary design and traditional Asian elements, which made for a delightful dining experience. The restaurant's location in Rennes was also a great plus, as it was easy to find and accessible. Overall, I highly recommend IMA Restaurant for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Rennes. From the exquisite dishes to the fantastic ambiance and location, IMA Restaurant truly deserves its Michelin star and "étoile verte" recognition."

I really enjoyed my food here, it was a excellent value, and great service. The dishes had very unique flavors that I’ve never tried before. I would recommend dining here. I got the pause menu and I’m sure the larger course meals are great. 5 courses was enough food for me.

What an incredible experience IMA is. I was able to sit at the bar and enjoyed dinner service while seeing the plating happening right in front of me. The chef spoke English well so I was able to ask questions and was treated with the utmost respect. The food was some of the best I have ever had in France. Astonishing attention to detail, original and creative flavors, and plates prettier than a polished pearl made this dinner unforgettable. Authentic Japanese flavors intertwined with the flavors of Brittany were very fun to experience. Not to mention, the service was near-impeccable. As a bleached-hair 20-year-old dude who spoke little French and ate by himself, my time in France was met with many weird looks and unfriendly experiences; however, the staff at IMA were friendly for every moment I was there. The sommelier was happy to teach me about wine and how it worked with the dishes. The waitresses were so attentive when it came to refilling water, taking finished plates, or sensing that I had a question to ask. They even taught me some French! All the staff would let me pass when walking through the restaurant, which made me feel like royalty and was incredible consistency across the board. The reviews can only explain so much about what you will experience here. If you are in Rennes and have the time and money, make sure you go here.
