"Located on the outskirts of Enschede, Joann is an inviting restaurant that seamlessly blends contemporary sophistication with the old-world charm of the 1916 listed building that houses it. The bustling activity in the open kitchen is as captivating as a stage performance. The combined efforts of chef Emiel Kwekkeboom in the kitchen and hostess Mandy and her team front-of-house ensure a memorable dining experience – complete with a fantastic wine list.The chef likes to showcase the best of his own vegetable and herb garden in dishes that strike a perfect balance of heat, acidity and finesse. He gives free reign to his culinary creativity, for instance, presenting perfectly pan-seared red mullet on a brunoise of white grapes and a lemon gel. This is complemented by subtly marinated celeriac and a bagna cauda emulsion infused with the robust flavours of hazelnut and anchovy. At Joann, each plate is brought to life by aromatic sauces and carefully balanced exotic spices.
