"Overlooking Berchtesgaden, surrounded by stunning natural beauty and with a magnificent mountain backdrop, the location is to die for! At the restaurant of the luxurious Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden, you can enjoy delicious seasonal cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. For dessert, we highly recommend the Eckerbichl-Haustorte! The sleek, modern interior design is a draw in itself. Incidentally, the restaurant is named after the first person to climb the east face of the Watzmann and Germany's first official mountain guide. Hotel guests can even take in the panoramic view here at breakfast." - Michelin Inspector

Here’s a polished and coherent rewrite of the review while keeping your original meaning and tone: ⸻ The starters were fine, but the roast beef could have been better—something was missing to really let the meat shine. The trout was terrible and had to be sent back because it was overwhelmingly salty. I then received a salmon dish I’d specifically requested with no salt, yet it still came salted. It also arrived within a minute, which was surprising since salmon simply doesn’t cook that fast. The sauce was overly sweet, and overall the dishes lacked balance. The dining room is large and clearly doubles as the breakfast area, and unfortunately it still feels like you’re eating breakfast at dinner. Portions were small: the trout was only about 70–80 grams of fish, and while the salmon was slightly better at around 100 grams, it was still undersized. Considering the prices, it just isn’t worth the money. We ended up cancelling our reservation for the second night.

While staying at Kempinski we indulged in a dining experience at this gourmet restaurant with each bite was a symphony of flavors. The ambiance, adorned with an elegant decor, added to the overall charm. The attentive staff demonstrated a deep knowledge of the menu, enhancing the dining journey. Just amazing service

Surprisingly good! We expected a grill+ restaurant, but were misinformed by the name. 🙈😁 Especially the main course was superb, very tasty. Nice details. Good wines.

Good restaurant with all vegetarian adoptions. The salmon fillet is a must try.

Painfully average experience. While the hotel and the view are spectacular, we were let down by the slow service and very average food in the restaurant. The staff was friendly, but very inconsistent as we dealt with three waiters during our dinner. Drinks were great, but the food was bland and highly overpriced for what it was.

Dinner here was my birthday gift. We waited 2 hours for the main course- the waitress was aware of it and repeatedly told us that she knows it’s taking long. Finally I asked her for the bill since nothing happened. The restaurant manager came and apologized, but they didn’t do much to make sure we don’t leave the place angry. Definitely not worth the Kempinski label.

Very good sub-restaurant “grEAT” with tasty meal and perfect service!

Food is highly overpriced and bad and service is mediocre. Complained about the beef being dry as a bone but got charged the full price. When I complained about it afterwards, waiter's reaction was "why didn't you tell us immediately", not offering to not charge it or not even apologising. Such reaction is not acceptable and unprofessional. Vegan main course option was a joke, being the most basic tomato sauce pasta while setting us back 26 Euros. Waiters never refilled empty wine glasses even though the multiplier on retail wine prices is horrendous. Not recommended.

Yelp
When staying in the alps at a hotel/spa where you are treated like royalty, why not eat like it too? Johann Grill is a fantastic restaurant in the Kempinski that delivers on all fronts. The food is elevated traditional alps cuisine so expect hearty classic dishes cooked in fine new ways. Do not miss the speciality of the house - a "cocooned steak". This is a unique way of cooking and aging the meat where it is rendered in its own fat to age and gain flavor. The result is something truly delicious. The pasta with truffle is wonderful as are the salmon trout dishes too. Be sure to try the local schnapps.
