"With its pleasant, upscale decor, gorgeous courtyard terrace and excellent food, the restaurant in the family-run Hotel Neumayr is certainly inviting. Ambitious cuisine is served as a set menu or à la carte comprising sophisticated, meticulously crafted dishes made from the finest ingredients. Take, for example, the saddle of chamois with juneberry, purple curry, wild mushroom, red cabbage and celeriac. Game and offal specialities are a firm fixture on the menu. The owner's œnophilia is given away by the impressive wine list, which comprises over 2 000 labels. The selection is international, but Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Burgundy take pride of place. Such a range of small bottles is also something one does not often see. The waitstaff are highly professional yet friendly and approachable." - Michelin Inspector

7 Bib Gourmand Restaurants in Munich, Germany

"The friendly restaurant in the family-run Neumayr hotel (now in the hands of the third generation) prepares flavorsome food using fresh products without any frills. Try the game broth with liver dumplings or the veal sweetbreads with wild garlic, morel mushrooms and Savoy cabbage. All accompanied by one of the over 450 different wines." - The MICHELIN Guide

A memorable experience ... I organized a VIP dinner at Johannas restaurant. From the very first planning meeting to the final coffee, everything was flawless. Chef Andreas Neumayr offers more than just fine cuisine: a warm, personal welcome, exceptional expertise in game, and perfectly balanced food and wine pairings. Every dish reflected outstanding product quality and culinary precision. The wine selections brought delightful discoveries, enhancing the entire experience. A rare place where gastronomy meets genuine hospitality. Highly recommended for any special event or unforgettable dining experience.

Great food, lovely services and perfect wine list. For me it’s a like a 5-year old going into a candy shop, when I opened the wine list I wanted almost everything - the list is extensive and more than reasonably priced (especially for Burgundy lovers). I went with the Chef’s surprising menu and the dishes and the wines I picked work pretty well. They used quite a few ingredients freshly from the field, the garden and the mountain. Loved the mushroom dish very much, simple yet delicious. For a game lover like me the venison is properly cooked. Fishes like tuna and lobster dishes are designed with details which bought out the freshness of the seafood. Also the watermelon sorbet is top notch, perfect for this summer weather! The desserts are not too sweet and with a subtle bitterness (from elderflower) which helped clean the palate and bring back freshness after the whole meal. The services are also very tentative. The staff speak good English and have good knowledge about the dishes and the wines. The chef and owner Andi who also put together the wine list is passionate about wine. We had a good chat after dinner and I hope that he would continue to keep fine matured Burgundy affordable in a restaurant. This is probably the only place I know in Europe that has DRC and Arnaud Ente by the glass in their list! Will definitely come back to visit again.

I visited Johanna's to celebrate my son's and my birthday on a Sunday evening. I had high expectations, because it was a special date and was positively surprised by the friendly and forthcoming staff (this is an exception in Munich, believe me!). The wine selection is vast and there are alternatives for all tastes and preferences in all price levels (including a good selection of open bottles, served in 1/8 liter glasses). We were welcomed with fine breads and an excellent amuse bouche. The entrées were absolutely perfect, but I deducted one star from my rating for the main dishes, which were good, but not top. We were then surprised with a wonderful sorbet to clean the taste before a lovely selection of cheeses with a perfect dessert wine (garnache). All in all a wonderful experience with six stars for the really nice staff.

Amazing food which is quite rare in Bavaria, very good and friendly service. For once a menu without 'Wiener schnitzel' or 'cordon bleu'!
