"We are always trying to discover new and interesting food experiences, something that is achieved to perfection at L'Ó. Its setting is opposite the Benedictine monastery of Sant Benet (dating back to the year 960) and next to the prestigious Fundación Alicia (ALI-mentación y cien-CIA), a research centre dedicated to food and science, the aim of which is to make us eat more healthily.Located inside the Món Sant Benet hotel and under the baton of chef Ivan Margalef, the restaurant focuses on cuisine that uses locally sourced organic ingredients in innovative contemporary dishes that showcase the surrounding area in its best possible light. The à la carte is well complemented by enticing set menus, both with a wine pairing option: one concise menu called “Un Paseo por Sant Benet”; the other a longer version called “El Camino de Sant Benet”." - Michelin Inspector

We drove up and visited the monastery. The views were beautiful, and the river was running wild spring was in full bloom, teeming with birds and bees. Ostensibly so, the meal was extravagant and scrumptious. I tasted things I never usually eat. Like ear, like elderflower infused something or the other. I must say I was gleefully taken aback by the rabbit that reminded me of a sophisticated Mole. The clams were breathtaking. Etc. the service was on point both the sommelier as well as the waitress did their best to explain the menu and its origins. Luncheon here was a privilege.

We ended up feeling disappointed. I will divide the review into 2 parts: Food: We had dinner for two with a menu of camí de Sant Benet. There were three or four very good dishes, others were mediocre and some really bad that even made us leave some of the food on the plate. When eating a meal that costs over 100 euros per person this should not happen. In one dish there was a huge endive root that gave a bitter taste to the whole dish (it was the biggest part of the dish). In another dish, we felt a bad aftertaste in the sauce, but the highlight was the chicken dish, which was so insanely salty that it was impossible to eat it. When I pointed this out to the waitress she said she would report it to the kitchen. Reported or not, I don't know, but no one gave me an explanation or offered me another portion as compensation (this was one of the main dishes of the meal and i hadn't touched it). In addition to that we noticed that many dishes on the menu used the exact same ingredients and it felt like a miss. This lack of creativity is also reflected in the plates itself: an eggplant-shaped plate with an eggplant inside. Where is the sophistication? Disserts? There is nothing to speak about them (among the worst and most boring ones I had the chance to eat). 2. Atmosphere and service: to enter the restaurant you have to enter the hotel and cross another restaurant (and also share the same bathroom with it) this greatly detracts from the atmosphere. The design of the restaurant is very basic and does not give the feeling of a place with character. In the same way, the place could be used as a small hall for conferences and parties of workers. The round tables are too big and not functional. The service was fine except for one incident. I asked them to bring me something to wipe the map after something fell on it. After I cleaned the tablecloth I put the wiper on the side of the table with its wrapper. Until the end of the meal no one took it away. In conclusion: Unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant.

I felt that L’O falls short when thinking of a one star Michelin restaurant. The food is not bad but far from exciting. The wine list is basically Catalonian wines. I value that they have a local mindset, but there is lack of balance and a shortage of good wines.

Delicious food, stunning views and friendly, knowledgeable staff. I had the pleasure of dining here 7(!) nights in a row during a large event that we were running and I was blown away by the consistency of the quality and experience across all of those sittings. Every course was perfected to the same level on every single night and I was very impressed by how quickly the staff remembered any preferences that I had and how proactively they applied those preferences to my experiences each night. All without a word being spoken. The views at sunset are absolutely gorgeous, with the monastery visible across the lawns and often hot air balloons passing by in the summer. If you are staying in the area I would absolutely recommend a visit to L'O.

We managed to get in here at the last minute after a cancellation and were delighted with our food fortune. The food is literally spectacular, with smoke, liquid nitrogen and wonderful presentations. The quality of the cooking and the flavour blending were also incredible. No CGI was involved in the production of these photos! The hotel it is part of is also well worth a night’s stay if you want to have a drink with your meal. The wine list is comprehensive and we were glad of the help in choosing. Our relatively inexpensive red was good complement to our food.

Nice 1 Michelin star restaurant in the middle of the Bages region. It sits within the Hotel Mon San Benet, a nice isolated country side hotel next the the monastery with the same name (worth the visit by the way). L'O was Ok overall. Some of the dishes in the tasting menu might need some punch to become a 5 star, but all together was pretty good balanced. It is actually a good add on if you want to visit the area and stay at the hotel. Labels: $$$$, 2Eat, #mediterranean, #michelin, #groups, #romantic

Quite pricy but degustación menu was super interesting. I am not a fish person but I had no issues eating it and enjoying every bite. Spectacular! Service was outstanding!
