I had it on my list, plus a couple of friends recommended the place. I was quite excited to dine there, but we weren't sure what time we'd be able to make it, so we just walked in.
Long story short: an employee at the entrance was so arrogant that we walked away after a short dialogue.
I asked if it was possible to order a la cart instead of the set menu. The person's face changed, he looked at me as if I wasn't good enough to eat there, and then he went: "This is a Michelin restaurant! What do you mean order some dishes a la cart??".
Shocked as I was, I replied that I was aware it was a "Michelin" place, as it was suggested by a huge red Michelin tile at the entrance. However, I said, I wasn't sure how that was connected to ordering a la cart. The place was almost empty. So we considered returning later for dinner instead. I asked if the view would still be nice or if it would be too dark. To what the host chuckled sarcastically: "For tonight??? Are you serious? People must reserve 4 weeks in advance."
At that point I didn't want to argue, I wanted to leave the place asap.
So we left.
Haven't had such a disappointing experience at a fine dining restaurant in a while, especially given the expectations set.
It is important to remember that an experience starts at the door, way before guests see any food and drinks. Afterwards I checked, and apparently La Ereta currently doesn't hold any Michelin stars, it's mentioned.
With hospitality like this, it felt only right, I thought.
