"The exuberant young chef of this historic establishment, both warm and welcoming, invites you to taste food of incomparable freshness. So fresh that the mussels, scallops, sole and turbot seem to have come straight from the fishing boat! Lovely veranda - lounge next to the house and a terrace on the other side." - Michelin Inspector

The owner of our Hotel, Chateau St. Pierre recommended that we go to La Trinquette. When we walked in the door right at 7:05pm there was one other table that had been seated and by 7:45 the place was packed and turning away guests who did not have a reservation. My wife had the fish stew with veggies. It was buttery and delicious. I had the catch of the day on cheesy risotto with a chimichuri sauce. It was not the chimichuri that I'm used to from Texas but it was perfect. A slightly sweet, mild chili sauce that was fantastic and wiped up nicely with bread at the end. My wife and I split the lemon tart which was amazing...kind of like a crunchy key lime pie with basil sorbet. I would definitely eat here again!

I found this restaurant and booked because they had online reservations. My French is minimal, and the other restaurants in town seem to require a phone call for reservations. We are so glad we found this place. Our meal was amazing! Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully plated. Highly recommend!

We had a lunch with a 20 person group. The facade of the restaurant hides a nicely designed interior. But it's about the food and that was great. We enjoyed it a lot, the chef must be passionate about his job for creating these wonderful dishes.

Service was wonderful and reasonably priced. The Sea Food platter, served cold was a bit different. The fish was very good. English as an only language is not an issue here. Thank you.

Excellent meal, very good quality and service. The staff were very attentive. The food was fresh, prepared well and nicely served. The owner was very personable, helping us with the menu (we don't speak or read French) and giving extra because he heard my son was a chef. Everything was very good. I would recommend.

Recommended by Denis from our B&B. He booked our reservation for us but you can book online. They spoke English but we used Google translate for the menu. They have tastings or a la carte. Delicious food.

Just excellent. The welcoming (we made our reservation just before 14h !!! I taught that was impossible in France since most restaurants close at this hour), the service, the atmosphere. And the food was fabulous. Strongly recommend!

Google
Wonderful restaurant with great staff: the freshest seafood, be sure to try the shells of san jacques (we didn’t notice them on the menu and were a little upset - they made a surprise for us and presented them!)) Incredible people manage and work in this restaurant! The most sincere recommendations!

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal here. The four of us chose the less expensive Price Fix menu for 32 euro and thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant was quite busy and the service was slow but we did not have a reservation and they thankfully seated us anyway because nothing else was open.

Yelp
My mom and I ate here on Thursday night while staying at a B&B in Gefosse-Fonteney, a short drive away. They have several prix fix menu options (as well as a la carte), but we chose the cheapest prix fix option for 22 Euros, which includes a plat, entree, and dessert. They have quite a few options for each course, the only downside is that their molten chocolate cake wasn't on this menu. For the plat, my mom chose the plat of the day, which was a trio of smoked fish, an impressive amount of smoked fish with a few sides. I had a large bowl of the house fish soup, accompanied by little toasts, grated (Mozzarella?) cheese, and a garlic dip that was delicious. For the entree, my mom had the fish of the day, daurade, which we had never heard of. Turns out it's a wide, but thin white fish that is quite tasty! The daurade was served with some sort of salsa-like garnish. I chose the scallops and fish with rice. It wasn't my favorite type of fish, but it was served in a delicious cream sauce that I wiped clean off my plate. For dessert, we both chose the dessert of the day, a strawberry rhubarb concoction. It was light, but extremely tasty and satisfying. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant! The service was excellent, the decor is elegant, and the food is A+ quality.

Yelp
Came here with my 11 year old son and his dad while visiting the D day sites. Food was delicious and the staff was attentive. We also had a delicious wine for €4 a glass. We came in the off-season, middle of winter, so we didn't need a reservation although the place filled up pretty quickly. The town is quite small and nothing fancy so it was quite nice to find such a good restaurant. Definitely think it's worth a trip.

Yelp
This was a spectacular restaurant to have a wonderful meal after a day of touring. It helps to have a reservation as they are very popular and busy. The small town of Grandcamp Maisy is lucky to have such a restaurant. We had Cod and Sea Bass, both delicious.

Yelp
This is my first and hopefully last negative review. I would not want to damage a business with a writing unless there was no redeeming positives to a business. Four of us went to dinner at the recommendation of the owner of our B&B. They said they were filled but would accomodate us. When we got there about 20 minutes after that there were only several couples and one group in the restaurant. Because we had been on tour all day we were very thirsty and were given less that a liter for the party of four, allowing only about an inch of water in each glass. We asked repeadetly for more water and we were ignored for at least 30 minutes and finally we got the second ration of the same amount. I explained that we would really like an adequate amount of water which went igniored. One young lady acknowleded me several times but did not respond. When the meal came two of our group had ordered the special foil wraped fish. One of the meals so bad it was not edible.. The other gentleman with us decided that he had enough and asked that they deduct his dessert and he went outside to wait on us to finsh our meals. In all honesty my meal of Sole was really pretty good, it is however hard to enjoy when service issues over ride food quality. After he left the apparent owner, a French woman in her 70s, came over and asked what the problem was as nobody had lodged a complaint. I told her her he left over the service issue of not getting any water. She let lose on us as to how Ronald Reagan had eaten there and that we didn't know good service. I assume she got Ronald whatever he wanted. She continued to be insulting and went to the few remaining couples talking French and then laughing out loud attempting to embarass us. All of this could have been avoided with the simplest of service in a restaurant that was not that busy. I paid our bill and left and comments were made to us on the way out. My thoughts are that we spent a fair amount of time in the Normandy area and EVERYBODY there was so warm and friendly, except La Trinquette! My only advise is that if you are American you should avoid this place like a plague. It is the place you hear about when people tell you how rude the French are to Americans. The French are not that way but there is always one. And I'm sorry that we even let this bother us as it was the single negative event to an otherwise wonderful trip.
