Les Allées

"Antoine and Coralie met in Jean Cousseau's two-Michelin-starred restaurant (Relais de la Poste in Magescq) after gaining solid experience in France and Spain. This former café-restaurant has been given a facelift that subtly blends vintage and modern features (waxed concrete floors paired with exposed beams). As for the food, this pair of pros focuses on flavour, often drawing on the Iberian pantry to put a spin on traditional dishes: calf's head croquette; leeks in vinaigrette; sautéed sweetbreads; grilled octopus etc. Two terraces: one out front and one in the courtyard, away from the street." - Michelin Inspector

We went to Restaurant les Allées on a recommendation of our AirBnB hosts and it was great. Started off with an apéro in the courtyard whilst we perused the menu. We had a Floc de Gascogne and a non alcoholic 1664 as one of us was driving. For entrees we had oeuf parfait et asperges, siphon béarnaise crumbled D'estrago, and Chargrilled octopus, with cremeux de pomme de terre, pimenton, and crumbled chorizo. Each dish was just beautiful. Seasoning perfect and a flavour bomb. Main courses were confit suckling pig, jus corsé and polenta, and Ris de Veau sautoir with carrot puree, gnocchi and points de asperges, jus corsé. I think the ris de veau I had for my main was one of the best dishes I have eaten in the last 5 years, it was just that good. Juicy, crispy and golden brown but tender sweetbreads with potato pillows. Unbelievable!! For dessert we both had the Grand Marnier soufflé. Say no more. This was the classic done properly. Café and Armagnac to end the meal The service was excellent and the food was very good value. Recommended

The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and it was a lovely setting. We ate outdoors in a cozy little garden area. The grilled leeks with creamed feta were fabulous. Grilled octopus was tasty. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Recommend reservations.

We stopped in the village to charge our electric car and just stumbled across this small local restaurant by luck - what a find. Beautiful freshly cooked food - they warned us there would be a wait and there was but so worth it. We had the pork and the tuna - both very high standard and presentation. Staff were super friendly and kindly tolerated my appalling French - such a lovely place and surely worthy of a michelin recommendation at least??

Consigliato a chi ama lasciarsi sorprendere.
