Les Arpents

"Not far from the château, this contemporary bistro nestled behind a traditional burgundy-coloured façade makes an impression! Two old friends, who met at Tours hospitality management school, rustle up a flawless culinary experience, delving freely into the abundance of first-rate local produce available, from asparagus and strawberries in season to Roi Rose pork and goat's cheese. Dishes that taste as delicious as they sound include roasted scallops, cauliflower and vanilla oil; or lemon tart sprinkled with dried black lemon, a wickedly tempting detail that makes this dessert irresistible." - Michelin Inspector

What a wonderful lunch. We arrived at 1:35 pm and thought they might turn us away as they close at 2 pm. However, we were welcomed in to a center table and the dining room was near full. We had a little trouble understanding the menu options, but decided to just "go for it" and chose the plate of the day options. An egg with asparagus appetizer followed by a main dish of pork tenderloin. Everything was fabulous. Then a trio of desserts arrived. Tres yummy! We finished with gourmet espresso. Not sure what made it "gourmet" but it was certainly good. Service was quick and efficient, but you better be ready to listen closely if you are an English speaker. We would certainly return here if given the opportunity.

Brilliant cuisine, complex flavors, interesting combination of seasonal and exotic ingredients, and attractive platings. All the dishes tasted as good as they looked. Substantial without being overly heavy. Had the 3-course tasting menu. Good value considering the exceptional quality. Biggest delight: the homemade butter with tonka bean! Ambiance in the back room a bit of a letdown, rather sterile and with jarring, classic Rock background music. Direct and efficient bilingual service.

We did the 3-course tasting menu and chose the fish option. Not being able to at all choose your food is a little unnerving, but this meal did not disappoint. They were able to accommodate and make the appetizer without meat as well which was great. The overall meal was excellent.

We came here to tour the town and was pleasantly surprised by this cozy place. The set menu is what we got (menu included). It came with the appetizer, main dish, and dessert + coffee. (26 €) Everything was spot on. Delicious & the presentation was superb 👌 I will definitely visit again when I come to visit next time.

Excellent quality, food, wine with a fair price. Unique experience of taste, really recommend this restaurant.

We went here for lunch with our two teenagers - one a vegetarian, the other a fussy meat eater - and when Jerome told us that it was a tasting menu with no choices I was a little nervous. But I should not have been. We all agreed that it was one of the best meals we have had out as a family. And honestly for the price, it was really great value too. We all went for the 3 course option. My daughter had the vegetarian menu, which she loved (artichoke and eggplant)! My son the meat (perfectly cooked beef), amazingly he ate every bite of every course, we had the fish (pollack). I went with their wine recommendations, a different glass with everyone course), and we all were very happy with our choices. Jerome, ably supported by David, provided patient, high quality service, and while there were no tables in the garden, our table was just perfect considering the kids wish to avoid sun. All in all a gem of a restaurant - I would highly recommend it as a reasonable priced, high end, venue where food surprises are all delicious!

We chose "Les Arpents" to celebrate my fiance's birthday! The food was delicious, rich in flavour and beautifully served. The service was friendly, professional and efficient. Thank you David and Jerome for your smiles and looking after us. Prices were down to Earth for the quality we received, very happy with our choice. Don't forget to book your table before you show up! One thing to flag maybe, that the wait between dishes was a bit too long compared to other 5-course dinner places we have been visiting. But that's maybe not a bad thing as you have time to digest:) Thank you!

We had a wonderful experience having the gourmand menu. We were even met with an extraordinary exception when we required a table outside despite them not preparing them outside due to the forecast. The staff was very kind and truly exceptional! If there was something I wish they would change is to add a description of their meals because I would like to know what tasted so beautifully.

Yelp
We had 5-course dinner. They also had 3-course dinner. The dinner started with a couple of amuse bouche. Food was excellent, while service was below par. They were also super slow. We spent close to 3 hours. Not a top pick in the area. Would rate 3 stars for service and 4 stars for food.

Yelp
During a two-night visit to Amboise, we were advised to give this restaurant a shot for our first dinner by someone who appeared to know what he was talking about (he owns the wonderful gourmet food and beverage shop down the road), so we booked ourselves in. The room is attractive, and the servers and hosts are all very friendly and welcoming, and speak English extremely well. The menu is modest in size, but offers a nice selection of items, many of which appealed to us, so choosing was a challenge. In the end, we opted for an order of the foie gras with cherries and one of the smoked mackerel to start, followed by the lamb with polenta and the yellow croaker with spring vegetables as the main. While we waited (...and waited) for our starters to be served, we were given a little dish of thin bread slices and a tonka-bean-infused slice of salted butter, and a dish of radishes in poppy seeds, which helped us to while away the time before our meal began in earnest. Eventually our starters arrived, and they were phenomenal. The foie gras also came with beautiful little cubes of what appeared to be a terrine wrapped in a cherry gel that was delicious. The mackerel was also delicious, beautifully arrayed on a slate plate with its sauces, greens and thinly sliced radishes. The main courses were just as beautifully presented, and just as delicious. The croaker came with a range of perfectly prepared baby spring vegetables, including some of the tastiest turnips I've ever had and a foamy sauce. For dessert we had their lemon tart--which was their signature dish, we were told, and one that nearly every other table ordered--and a cheese plate. The sole disappointment of the entire evening was that our order of the lemon tart--alone out of all the orders we saw delivered all evening--was not served on a beautiful Pillivuyt "folded" plate, but on a plain-old flat plate. But it was still exemplary, and a fitting ending for the meal, as were the cheese platter, which was presented in a huge assortment of which I think I could have selected as many as I wanted, but I went for just three. The meal was among the best we have had on this trip to France so far, but I wavered between awarding them four rather than five stars because the pacing was so slow. Even a swifter delivery of the radishes and bread would been a step in the right direction, but in the end I think the cuisine is the main factor to base stars on, so five it is.

Yelp
We had a really nice meal here, though perhaps not a great one. There were elements of greatness, but also some misses. My wife and I had the prix fixe menu for 32 euros so had a starter, a main and a dessert. Before our starter they brought us this slices of bread with a bean puree instead of butter which was quite good. They also brought free radishes "planted" in a bowl of poppy seeds. It was beautiful, but didn't do much for the taste buds. Sorry of like gritty radishes. My wife had a cauliflower starter with grated beets and a sesame foam which she thought was excellent. I had the vegetable salad which was served with smoked herring and a herring oil emulsion. The lightly dressed vegetable salad was delicious, with delicate flavors. The herring was also delicious with a favor very reminiscent of the finest smoked salmon. The emulsion had a delicate ocean flavor and was a nice compliment to the herring. So the problem comes when the first bite of the salty herring completely overwhelmes the delicate salad. It seemed like two completely unrelated dishes served on the same platter. Each was delicious but together they felt disjointed. My wife had the confit lamb which came with a delicious stick of crispy polenta, slivered peppers, and a tasty sauce. This was a real standout dish! I had the duck breast. It was perfectly rendered with crispy outsides and a perfect pink center. It was served with spaghetti squash, summer squash, a nice sauce, and a little bit of perfect because sauce. Delicious, but not exciting. My wife had a chocolate and blackcurrent confection. One end was blackcurrent I've cream and the other was chocolate ganache, the whole thing studded with merangue dots and thin shards of chocolate like a delicious porcupine. I know it was great because she would only grant me the smallest taste! I had the cafe gourmond with was three small desserts served in shot glasses and a cup of espresso. One of the desserts was intensely chocolate with both frozen and creamy textures, another was a lemon cream, and the third was a peach soup flavored with verbena with chunks of fruit (possibly cherries), and a pistachio cream cap. All were delicious and each had interesting textural elements that made them fun in the mouth. Super friendly and helpful staff, nice wines by the bottle or the glass, and a pleasant atmosphere and decor. This a the work of a great chef, but at least for us, there were enough issues that I couldn't justify a perfect 5 stars. Still, it is a great restaurant well worth a stop.

Yelp
This is a a gem in Amboise, been to this city several times over the years. I believe this has been the best restaurant we've been in. The food was phenomenal, service was great, the staff was professional and witty. The price/performance was really good as well. A couple of people with us thought it was one of the best meals they had in the last couple weeks of traveling in France. We all had the tasting menu, its a lot of food but worth it. If you are in the area go get a reservation here.....

Yelp
Recently opened. French cuisine with a modern twist. Interiors quite austere, but the food is the highlight. Service was friendly but slow, I guess this is due to it's being a new establishment.

Yelp
A very nice place with creative dishes and helpful service. Trust the chef with your meal selection by ordering the gourmand menu - you won't be disappointed... only surprised! Beautiful presentation and a wide array of complementary flavors... exceptional!!!

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Not really veg friendly menu but gosh the food is amazing and the way they plate it is even better. We had a cold veggie soup with egg. I had a pollack with eggplant and normally i hate eggplant but this was perfect (the best I've ever had). The cheeses are fantastic (you get your choice from a board) and the breads are wonderful. We had a light lunch on a hot day and everybody loved their food.
