A little late to be posting a review, My brother and I visited at the end of march, but I just made a yelp account recently.
We went to try the seal, something I had been excited about, but discovered that the seal filet wasn't available, and they had seal burgers and seal lasagna available. The reason the seal filet wasn't available was due to our timing, the seal hunt hadn't started yet, and so fresh seal meat wasn't going to be available for the next few weeks. Weren't very hungry anyway, and a little stingy on our money, so we opted to split a seal burger.
It was a frozen pre-made burger patty, but you could tell it was seal due to the dark color. It was cooked all the way through, put on a sourdough (or something similar) roll, and topped with this delicious cheese from Îles de la Madeleine. Certainly an interesting experience, the flavor was very unique and all-in-all, it was a pretty good burger. The seal patty was very dense and filling, with a nice crust and still a bit juicy in the middle. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, i would definitely recommend it, and wish I had tried the lasagna. If you're just looking for a good simple burger, beef is probably better, but seal is a very nice change of pace.
We liked how when sitting at the bar, you can see everything that goes on in the kitchen beyond, and watch them make food. We enjoyed their selection of interesting beers. We had a good time talking with the nice girl working there, who told us all about Îles de la Madeleine, her family, the restaurant, etc.. It was a very nice time and i would definitely go back, preferably when the seal is actually in season, and recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for interesting food/drink, friendly staff, and a unique experience.
