Les Touristes

"For many decades, this restaurant has been a go-to destination for exceptional cuisine, and now two ambitious young chefs from the region are at the helm. Their culinary creations exhibit a notably minimalist approach and are pleasingly succinct. They are made using carefully selected ingredients, often sourced locally. There are three set menus to choose from, one of which is vegetarian. In addition to the outstanding food, there is a strong emphasis on creating an enjoyable dining experience. The lively atmosphere, chic interior and the attentive and friendly service all play their part. The waitstaff also excel at providing excellent wine recommendations. In summer, the terrace is particularly delightful." - Michelin Inspector

Les Touristes in Martigny is truly something special. From the moment you walk in to the final bite, the entire experience feels thoughtful, precise, and deeply enjoyable. The kind of meal that stays with you long after you leave. Chefs Christophe Genetti and Maël Gross are clearly cooking at an exceptional level. Every dish was beautifully executed, but two stood out in a big way. The beet dish was stunning: elegant, layered, and completely unexpected, turning a humble ingredient into something refined and memorable. The 30-day dry-aged pork medallion was flawless: perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and balanced with accompaniments that showed real restraint and confidence. Michelin-level cooking in every sense. The service elevated the experience even further. Yassine was outstanding. He was funny, warm, and genuinely friendly, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and ease. He made us feel immediately welcome and completely taken care of. Jonathan, the sommelier, delivered thoughtful, spot-on wine pairings and brought a welcoming, approachable energy that made every glass feel intentional and exciting. What really sets Les Touristes apart is how seamlessly everything comes together. It never feels forced, just effortlessly excellent. This is absolutely a restaurant worth traveling for. If you’re anywhere near Valais, or even if you’re not, Les Touristes is an experience not to be missed. An easy five stars.

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Definitely top 3, and not number 3. The beets were unbelievable, as was the pork dish, and the celery in brown butter. We are so happy to have heard about this place, and intend to return whenever we are in Switzerland. The service was unreal, and the sommelier Jonathan was so helpful with the wine pairing we selected, it flowed perfectly. Congratulations to the chefs, the experience was truly one of a kind.

We were looking for a good eatery after unsuccessfully have tried to see the Francis Bacon exhibition one week early the first Friday of February 2025 and researched Google Maps for the best place in town. Luckily for us "Les Touristes" had a free table for two. This is an old institution that has been taken over by two young chefs from Wallis two years ago and has already been awarded 16/20 by the Gault Millot guide. Prices are accordingly with the exception of the lunch menu, "Ehémère". One of the two evening menus is vegetarian and looks really inviting, an intelligent move to attract parts of the younger generation with its negative approach to meat. The wine list represents what is expected from a gastronomic restaurant with a large choice of local options. My only critique is that the prices of the high-end locals, of which I have several in my wine cellar, may discourage many customers from choosing these alternatives. We had the excellent Ephémère menu which stimulates both your palate and your eyes, accompanied by a local Claret, also of excellent quality. Service by the young staff is attentive and joyful. Overall excellent value for money. Highly recommended!

Absolutely incredible experience, expensive yes, we paid over 200 chf per person for the full 5 course meal (with little extra dishes in between), without alcohol, but the food is to die for, and the waiter was incredibly nice, spoke 5 languages and gave the food the flair it deserved. As a one time extravagant meal I highly recommend it, though for those that can afford it they change their menu with the seasons, so it's worth going at least 4 times a year! The fact they don't have a Michelin star surprises me, but I'm sure it's not far behind, so better go while the prices are still "reasonable" 😂

This place is what love on a plate looks like! Every dish reflects the passion and dedication of the team—it's clear they pour their hearts into everything they do. Absolutely brilliant food, warm atmosphere, and consistently great service. Hands down, my favorite restaurant in the region!

Google
Excellent restaurant both in terms of the creativity and Valaisan authenticity of the kitchen, and the friendly and professional service. Outstanding choice of local wines presented by a knowledgeable and passionate sommelier.

Food was good but too noisy, unfortunately, could not even hear well what the waiter was saying when food brought to our table. Service staff were great but maybe need to pay more attention to clean uniform, especially shoes - I look at you before I eat :-)

Yelp
Probably the best food in Martigny. It isn't cheap, but offers great food, ambience and service. Has ample seating indoors and outside on their patio. Good location, just a block from the central plaza and a half mile from the train station. The food was a nice surprise of flavors, textures and elegantly presented. Everything seemed fresh. A pleasant surprise to find this restaurant after a few days in town.

Yelp
I would give this restaurant 4 stars, but I was a bit disappointed the last time we had dinner there. The prices are too high for the quality of the food, IMO, and the service was really average. Other than that, the food is excellent (French cuisine).
