Restaurant Lovage by Lee Smith

What a fabulous lunch time à la carte meal we enjoyed on Saturday. A warm welcome and exceptional service from the moment we arrived. Beautifully presented, really tasty food, lovingly crafted. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back.

The tasting menu was ok. Unfortunately we were 30 min late and the experience was a little bit rushed. I understand that being late was our fault, but bringing the first 2 courses simultaneously I don't think is the right thing to do... Be aware that is very challenging to find a parking space near the premises. I was driving in circles for 20 min.

We were looking for a fine dining place to eat while in Bakewell and Lovage by Lee Smith did not disappoint. We went for the three courses for £45, however, note that does not include sides which is £5 each (and necessary if you don't just want to eat just meat!) That was my only gripe. We were served by Jonathan who was professional, hospitable and very knowledgeable about the dishes. The meal started with a delicious croustard and warm sourdough bread. I enjoyed every course. As an avid watcher of Great British Menu and the mouthwatering food that is served, I was pleased, and not surprised to hear that Chef Lee Smith was on this show. Delicious food, reasonable priced and I was full at the end.

Visited for a private dining evening. A mix of the veggie and the omni tasting menus with accompanying wine, as recommended by our waiter. The food was exquisite (including one course I didn't care for but everyone else did, it was clearly wonderful just not to my taste - and isn't that great to have a reaction like that but still see the skill and artistry in the work). Service was fabulous

We had a lovely evening at Lovage, had been recommended to go and are very glad we did The welcome, atmosphere and interior of the restaurant, all great The food was stunning, in looks and taste, a delicious, complimentary cheese filo tart started us off, all courses were memorable The wine list is a good size and starts off at less than £30,so decent value Was good to see the Maitre'd quietly training the young, efficient and friendly staff during service Have recommended and will return

What a fantastic restaurant! We visited as a treat as we were visiting Bakewell and we’re glad we came. The staff are wonderful and incredibly welcoming. The food was incredible. We had the 7-course tasting menu and each course was unique with such attention to detail. Although it is expensive, it’s reasonable for such a delicious tasting menu which stands up against other restaurants that are twice the price. We can’t wait to come back again soon.

This spot was a true gem. The dinner tasting menu was delicious to the last bite. Each course was a happy dance for the taste buds and was a lovely celebration of local produce. The service and ambiance was on point, and an exceptional wine menu. I could not recommend Lovage more.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime for our anniversary. We’ve been to 3 Michelin starred restaurants in the last year, one with 2 stars and this was considerably better than any of them. (FYI I’m talking about Belcanto in Lisbon, The Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds and Behind in London.) The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and the flavours worked so well together. Service was proactive and very friendly and genuine but not over the top. A relaxed, non pretentious place that we will definitely be returning to. Food was £188 for 2, including 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine, as well as tip.
