"Situated in the Hotel Bellevue, this restaurant offers a spacious terrace with sea views for alfresco dining in fine weather, as well as an elegant, Japanese-influenced dining room with an open-view kitchen and sushi bar. Excellent sashimi in traditionally prepared and more imaginative recipes, plus ramen dishes, Kobe beef and sea bass carpaccio. The wine list includes options by the glass, as well as the proverbial sake and Japanese whisky." - Michelin Inspector

🎖️9/10 🥩: Extraordinary restaurant. Keep in mind it has Michelin recommendation. Offers a decent sized menu, Japanese A5 Wagyu, different types of sushi and nice deserts. Portions are a bit on the smaller side, but incredible in quality. Definitely try sushi - Wagyu A5 🍸: Japanese Sake, classic drinks 👨‍🍳: The staff is legendary. Lana waitress was very polite, helpful, friendly & explained everything there for us. (We asked a lot). Also other staff was very descriptive as well, big props. 🏡: Ambience is beautiful modern and Japanese combo. Regular and half circle couches with dining tables. Also has an outdoor space. 💰 Depends a lot on what you order. About 80 per person. 🥲 Bad things: Tiny thing but the menu could have images, especially for sushi. Also more different drinks 👍👎: Recommended to try something new, something wild. But acknowledge that it is fine dining and it's higher price.

If you want to eat the worst Japanese food imaginable, then you are going to the right place. It’s hard to describe the lack of culinary skills displayed by this kitchen. From the frozen edamame beans to the deep fried softshell crab that looked and tasted like the left over fried batter of a fish and chip shop. I almost never write restaurant reviews, but sometimes you need to stop people from committing culinary suicide!

We didnt try the Sushi cause my wife couldn’t eat it at the moment, but they looked delicious on our neighbors table. We had the Wagyu Gyoza, the beef ribs and teriyaki steak, all were cooked to perfection. Also the deserts where exquisite. Service was very professional and friendly and also the chef came himself to ask if everything was alright after a few minutes after serving the main dish (3 min rule). Will definitely be back to also try the sushi next time and can really recommend this restaurant in the beautiful Bellevue Hotel!

As a former travel journalist and editor, I've long maintained a policy of restraint when it comes to restaurant reviews. My philosophy has been simple: minor issues don't warrant criticism unless persistent, and exceptional experiences usually find their champions among other diners. So, Matsunoki experience represents a rare exception to this rule. Having frequented this establishment with my family over several years, I find myself compelled to share my experience. So dear fellow gastornome, if you're looking for an honest review, here it is - let me know what you think! Hidden in the embrace of the magical Čikat Bay, Matsunoki represents the pinnacle of gastronomic excellence. Located in the elegant Bellevue Hotel on Mali Lošinj, this Michelin-starred restaurant represents a journey through textures, flavors, and art. Chef Orhan (great guy btw, very attentive and caring) masterfully orchestrates the fusion of two seemingly distant culinary traditions, creating dishes that tell a story of a place. So his interpretation of local ingredients through the prism of Japanese precision and technique results in interesting compositions that represent homage to tradition and innovation. Hand in hand with sommelier Filip! His understanding of wine transcends conventional framework. Namely he is an exceptional connoisseur and he'll demonstrate his knowledge during every second of conversation. His ability to find the perfect pairing between complex fusion dishes and a carefully curated wine cellar is an art form in itself. His expertise in both Croatian and international labels, and the way he passionately shares his knowledge, turns every pairing into a mini masterclass in enology. The restaurant's atmosphere elegantly balances sophistication and relaxation, The restaurant's windows are large, but the surrounding pine forest provides shelter and a pleasant sense of seclusion. Each plate that leaves the kitchen is visually striking, but never at the expense of taste – this is gastronomic theater where all elements are equally important. For those seeking a supreme culinary experience, Matsunoki stands as a testament to Croatia's rapidly rising culinary prestige in Europe. This is must visit!

Amazing modern hotel , no expense spared in a beautiful settling. 3 restaurants we visited Matsonuki a Japanese restaurant. It was late May early season, and we were the only diners. There must have been more than 20 staff . Our meal 4 of us possibly paid half of them. Very expensive but it looks and feels very expensive as soon as you enter. The food was better than expected and well presented

It is not easy to write a review on this restaurant. I try rally to be objective. 1) food is excellent with several exceptions like sushi which is not bad, but not excellent. I do not agree with previous reviews criticizing food. It is nicely and creatively served, fresh and from quality stuff. It is fusion cuisine, not pure japanesse which can cause misunderstanding. However, 2) it is not Micheline star quality. Probably, Michelin commisionaire did not order sushi or several other items. 3) in Micheline star restaurant you expect good management and atmosphere. Here, the door to the toilet are impaired, cannot be closed and it is opened to the restaurant the whole evening. It is really bizzare. Also, outdoor terrase is somehow average and not secluded from other hotel premises. 4) there is probably no unemployment in Croatia or personnel received no training. We had young guy who had no idea whom to serve first at the table, pushed us and removed unfinished dishes without asking. The worse or even offensive was when he started to serve on the table when half of the people were in the bathroom. They call it Micheline star and they take automatically 5% for service. 5) the price of your bill does not correspond to what you get. You are not likely to come again.

Would not go back, do not recommend to anyone. Beware of the exorbitant prices for cheap salmon and tuna. We were asked if we wanted champagne on arrival which we said yes to, without knowing the price. Turns out it was £20 each glass of champagne. We also ordered a bottle or wine from 2018 and the waiter tried it obviously to see if it was good but basically poured himself a full glass, I was shocked as it again was so expensive. Plus it's not like it was an old bottle.. it's stored well and from 2018 so I can't imagine he needs almost a full glass to "try" it. 2/4 of us thought one type of sushi roll tasted like paint. Quite shocking as we saw so many good reviews and were really looking forward to spending our friends bday there. We also pre planned for flowers on the table and a birthday desert which they forgot. Honestly, do not waste your money. If you've had sushi in Japan or any other fancy restaurant in ANY country you'll be disappointed. I hope this restaurant improves. Service was good though, hence the 3 stars.
