"Located near the main train station, cathedral and the Rhine, this restaurant is entirely dedicated to German cuisine. Maximilian Lorenz and his team serve up a creative set menu (also available in a vegetarian version) that combines the modern and the traditional in a skilful and multifaceted way, with dishes such as Saarland sea bass, mussel, samphire, condensed milk. Diners are sure to be impressed by the top-notch ingredients, the culinary prowess of the kitchen team and the exquisite flavours. The interior is upmarket, elegant and minimalist. The extensive wine list has a very good selection of champagnes and sparkling wines. Wine lovers should also check out heinzhermann, the modern, laid-back wine bar located just next door. For those who need to eat on the hoof, there are also simpler street food options to take away." - Michelin Inspector

Google
1 Michelin star restaurant. Two menus, one themed around Pike-Perch the other around asparagus. I chose the 6-course fish menu. I should immediately add that not every course was fish. Innovative and interesting menu with a wine pairing of exclusively German wines. This was a revelation to me as we don't find many German wines where I live. All round a great experience, service was impeccable. Reasonably priced.

Came here with two friends from the USA, who had never had a fine dining experience of this level. We were extremely happy with the food, the service and the overall feel of the restaurant. We received some great wine recommendations from the wait staff and our requests to avoid anything fish-based for one member of our party were met with great alternatives. Would 100% come again, if in the area. I want to emphasize again that the staff was absolutely on point and were a major factor the experience was as great as it was.

The food was delicious, but service far below a Michelin 1 Star restaurant. It took them 25min to give us the Menue (first course arrived after 1,20h). They did not show the bottle before serving a glass of the open bottles or let us try before serving, etc.

We celebrated NYE there. The food was ok but expected a little more for 1 star Michelin restaurant. At the other hand we didn’t spend much. Was just 80 euro per head + drinks. My steak was little cold. They didn’t ask how we want our steak done. Nice atmosphere…we will try again

Came here when the restaurant was under a different name and ownership, my expectation was high upon returning. This is the closest thing to a food experience I have had in Cologne. Food, service, wine menu are all top notch. We went with the traditional menu and were very impressed. The taste and presentation were perfect, I cannot wait to come back here again. Absolutely delicious!

Everything was splendid and I might consider it that was one of the best experience I have ever had with michelin starred restaurants.

Went in May and only getting round to reviewing now but still felt compelled to. Food was undeniably interesting and tasty but that’s where the positivity stops. When we arrived we felt unwelcome. The atmosphere was stark and cold, borderline rude. We were given two choices of menu but zero assistance was provided and when we chose they actually started by bringing out the wrong menu - we had to convince them this was indeed the case. Each course looked fantastic but was plonked on the table by the waiter without further explanation. Wine tasting was not offered nor was assistance provided and as a result, the hefty price tag felt way beyond what was reasonable. The magic in these places is not just in the food but also the journey and unfortunately I think this restaurant has got it way off. Disappointing - recommend saving your money for the fantastic bars and restaurants in the old town where the service is fantastic.

Yelp
Fine dining 100%. The special of the night was an amazing filet of beef. One of the best I've ever had.

Yelp
I came here as a solo diner and had a phenomenal dining experience. As an American tourist, I felt as if I had a perspective into chefs experience as a German culinary. While the meal was obviously "elevated" it felt true to its core as a quintessentially German meal. The food was all beautiful and tasted great. The only item I didn't love was the duck (which I don't really like) I don't really care about service, but I did appreciate that the staff put in a lot of effort to explain context of dishes that my American self would not have picked up on. A five star experience since it delivered exactly what I was looking for and is my favorite of the fine dining restaurants I've been to in Europe!
