A serene combination of homestyle warmth and haute technique. You’ll likely find a mixture of young couples and families, all basking in the glory of what this team of chefs manage to magic into existence in their tight kitchen: onion tartine, flaky, buttery and sweet; monkfish with clams that has a seafood flavour so potent it would stop even Jacques Cousteau in his subaqueous tracks; lamb done three ways, more tender than a first love’s kiss. And not to mention a team of waiters that were kind enough to treat an Englishman like a local.
If you close your eyes and imagine ‘dinner in Paris’, you probably imagine soft, flattering lighting, a deep wine list, and an array of dishes that both comfort you and delight you with a few new bites to remember. What you’re imagining, I’m very happy to say, is also a Friday night dinner at Mieux.
