Found this local Korean restaurant based on the reviews. While they have more variety than other Korean restaurants in Montreal, I wouldn’t say that they have the best tasting food. It was overall a bit bland. Ouf of all the dishes we ordered, the kimchi pancake and the seafood pancakes were pretty good. The fried chicken (dakgangjung) was the most disappointing: it was drenched in sauce, and the sauce was way too sweet. The other dishes were just ok: tteokbokki, yukgaejang (beef cut was thick and hard to chew), gamjatang, and the beef boood sausage stir-fry. I don’t usually eat very spicy food, but the food here could actually have used some extra spiciness in comparison to the average Korean food. Service was just basic: once we got the food, there was no additional interactions. We had to ask for a glove for the gamjatang and extra napkins. No one came when our water jug was empty. The restaurant does seem popular, there was a small line-up when we left the restaurant.

Mukja is the best Korean restaurant I tried in Montreal. We ordered Mool naengmyun with cold broth, Dolsot Bibimbap with beef, and Dakgangjung. They all taste so good. In addition, the portion of each was really big! The young service lady was really nice and helpful. I asked her where to buy the naengmyun noodles and she told me to get it in the Korean supermarket across the street. The restaurant is clean and quiet. I'll definitely dine there again.

EDITED 14/11/2025 ISSUE RESOLVED WE DEVOURED THE TANGSUYUK We ordered Tangusuyuk, Chicken Gizzard, Galbitang, and Tteokbokki super delicious and very crispy 23/10/2025 We've been regulars at Mukja since 2023, and we always come back for the tangsuyuk—it’s usually crispy, double-fried, and absolutely delicious. But today (Oct 23rd), the tangsuyuk was disappointingly soggy and clearly not double-fried like usual. We politely asked the waiter to check with the chef, but the manager refused to accommodate the request. The waiter was great as always—friendly and attentive—and the rest of the food was good. But the tangsuyuk is the main reason we come here, and this experience was a letdown. We’ll only return if the manager addresses this issue. If that happens, I’ll gladly update this review back to 5 stars.

The best and tastiest Korean place we've had the joy of going to. The banchan was sooooo tasty, and the servers are very sweet, kind, and put in great effort to making it a pleasant experience. Their coconut and taro milk tea with pearls is TO DIE FOR.

Ordered a bowl of soft tofu soup with seafood (soondubu jjigae). Very tasty and filling with the side dishes. Bubble tea comes in a large glass for only $5.99 (or 2 for $10). Excellent food at a reasonable price!

One of my fave korean restos in MTL. Their menu is affordable and they have a lot of items that can’t be found in other places such as stir fried web octopus or monk fish.

One of the only places for more unique Korean soups and stews. The seafood pancake was very crispy and the tteokbokki rice cakes had a nice sweet and spicy sauce.

Came back from South Korea and had a craving for cold Naengmyun. This place is run by korean speakers and their recipes reflect their hangul heritage and the taste is very similar to what you can find in a family run restaurant in Seoul

Yelp
I was visiting from the US, with a coworker from Mexico. Our hotel was nearby (ish) so we walked about a km to get to this gem. It was quite busy for a Tuesday night-a small restaurant with maybe 10 tables but most were full. There were only two people working the register and waiting the tables but they were friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. They brought out little dishes of Kimchi as appetizers, which we enjoyed. I ordered the Bulgogi - was so good that I ate every bite. My coworker also enjoyed her food (I forgot what she ordered). She had a strawberry bubble tea too-she didn't like it as much. The prices were very good too. I could definitely see why it is popular.

Yelp
As a Korean from an area with a lot of Koreans, I have to say, this is the real deal! We ordered the soondubu, galbitang, gomtang, and jjampong. All of them were delicious! I wasn't feeling great, but the gomtang made me feel so much better. Usually, gomtang doesn't have a whole lot of meat, but there's had so much!!! I've seen a lot of kbbq places around Montreal, but places like Mukja that serve Korean home food really deserve more credit. The interior is also super clean and cute (ft the adorable Pokémon print). If you're in the area, I highly recommend visiting here and giving Mukja (especially their soups) a try!
