"A family business has been run on this 17th-century premises for three generations. For many years it was a butcher's shop, the current incarnation of which now sits two doors down, and today Sommelier Vicki has taken on the mantle to run it as this sweet restaurant with her husband Richard. His dishes are founded on excellent quality ingredients, from both specialist suppliers and their own butcher's – like supremely flavoursome Welsh Black beef. Low-ceilinged rooms and exposed beams add to the charm." - Michelin Inspector

Can’t wait to come back! I recently came here as part of my 30th birthday celebrations and was not disappointed in the slightest. Their food is out of this world and each dish is so unique! My favourite was the accompanying wine as this complimented each dish perfectly! I’d definitely recommend getting the tasting menu but I’m sure you’d love anything from here! Will be booking again soon.

Really can’t recommend this place. The venue itself is gorgeous and the service was very friendly (the manager in particular was lovely), but the food is massively underwhelming. The portion size is also borderline pathetic (the lamb pictured here was £37….). The cocktails are awful too. Such a shame. £144 for a 2-course meal each and two cocktails is a joke.

Quirky fine dining restaurant with friendly service. Totally my fault for not checking the menu beforehand but not really what we'd have chosen for the occasion which was a catchup over lunch befre a hike. The menu was very limited, all of mine and my friends selections were very salty and we were a little surprised to be charged £4.75 for a jug of tap water. The complimentary bread and selection of butters were a lovely touch and I'd wanted to try this venue for a while but would certainly not return for lunch, possibly dinner (after checking the menu!)

The food was absolutely delicious the wine was reasonably priced and the service was great. My only beef is that on Friday and Saturday they seem to be trying to push you in to the 7 course tasting menu. I never go for a tasting menu, which unfortunately left me and my guest with just two choices for first course and main, from memory it used to be four things to choose from. Two choices is simply not enough. We have had many excellent meals at next door and as we don’t live in Frodsham weekends work for us, but sadly I think it is the last time I will be taking friends there until there is a change in policy

We went in as a couple for Saturday lunch and had the market menu, which was 2 for £29 or 3 for £35, with the initial intention of having 3 for £35. The atmosphere and service were perfect, really friendly, helpful and comfortable. The menu appeared to have really good options and we looked forward to our meal. I had the pork to start followed by the beef and my wife had ewe's curd to start and John Dorie for main. The fish and meat were really good, no complaints, but the rest of the plate was a bit nondescript, and wasn't the same level as the protein. After having these 2 courses, we decided to skip dessert. All in all a nice lunch, but probably wouldn't come back.

Amazing place! Really calm and chilled vibe. I had the tasting menu, and it was worth every penny. The flavours were incredible and innovative, I would have never expected the combinations to work, but they did on so many levels. The service was top notch and all the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food. Will definitely be returning!

I've never been to a place like this before, and was lucky to have received a voucher for my birthday. I honestly can't believe how nice everything was, from the moment we walked in until we left it was a wonderful experience. The staff were excellent, the food...... I had no idea food could taste this good! I was worried the portions would be tiny as the food is like a work of art, but we had the three course lunch (a bargain at £35 considering the sublime quality of the food) and it was perfect. I enjoyed it so much, I really hope I'm fortunate enough to go again one day.

Truly an amazing experience. We went in on Saturday evening to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We had a tasting menu and one with wine pairing. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgable-especially about wine pairing. Food is a symphony in your mouth. A lot of different flavors. I love the vibe of the whole restaurant. You can see is made by people with passion.
