Restaurant Nova

Had a wonderful dinner here with my family last weekend. We loved all the dishes. Friday evening was quite busy and that was the only problem that the service was slow and it took a while to get the attention of the servers. I paid 300€ for a 4 course dinner for 6 people and a bottle of beautiful Italian white wine. The food was immaculate and would definitely come to this place to celebrate another special occasion as it’s not the normal budget of my dinner 😜

Surprise of the year and on biking distance from Rotterdam #nesselande. Michelin Bib Gourmand awarded for many years. I like the menu where you have 3 choices for a course and you have to follow the chef. Wine choices could have been a bit better in my opinion, but that's personal taste.

I don’t usually write reviews unless an experience is truly exceptional or clearly disappointing. Unfortunately, this visit falls into the latter. We went to Restaurant Nova in Rotterdam for my daughter’s 24th birthday, a place she had been excited about for a while. The ambiance was pleasant and the staff courteous, but the food did not justify the €80 per person price tag. The steak tartare lacked freshness, as if it had been sitting in the fridge too long. The risotto was overcooked and underseasoned. The lamb steak tasted reheated, possibly microwaved. The one highlight was the braised lamb, which was flavorful and well-prepared. I chose not to complain at the time to avoid ruining the occasion, but this experience definitely goes on my list of places where the quality-to-price ratio is below 1.

With a limited menu, the chef is still able to offer a fantastic choice for all tastes. My carpaccio was one of the best I have ever had. Crumbled nuts and duck froie gras gave it something extra special. The crayfish bisque with gambas tasted yummy! The seabream was very well prepared with a nice crispy skin. Unfortunately, it was a very noisy ambience whereby following a conversation on our own table was challenging. Compliments to the staff, who were friendly and professional with a sense of humour!
