Restaurant Papilio

An absolute gem and, without exaggeration, the greatest gourmet experience of my life. Perfection in every aspect - the food, service, open kitchen, seasonal menu, beautiful interior, and the amazing chef Mr. Knedla - down to the finest details. A place truly deserving of a Michelin star, a unique treasure for the whole Czech Republic!

Absolutely top culinary experience! Where craft transitions to art. Loved the nonalcoholic tea pairings. Perfect service, chef attending all tables, relaxed atmosphere. Wow!

Amazing! We had the 10 course tasting menu with the local wine pairing and every course was exceptional. As a gourmet experience this was the best meal of my life (at least so far! :) ) It is - of course - expensive, as it is a two Michelin star restaurant (the only one in the Czech Republic). It's not something I would be able to afford every week, but I am so glad that I got the chance to go and we may well visit again for a special occasion if we get the opportunity. You will definitely need to book - Probably a number of months ahead. It is worth it though!

I have contacted the restaurant to make a reservation two months in the future in April. The response was prompt. The one star is for the request to provide bank transfer of 7,000 CZK within 3 business days, otherwise the request would be considered null and void. No option to use credit card, no response to my subsequent inquiry about credit card use. The crown jewel was the fact that the whole amount is non- refundable immediately after they accept it and make the reservation final. In this case more than two months ahead. They cite a Czech law- number, paragraph, the whole legal lingo to prove to the prospective guests that they have all legal rights to do this, that even the two week window to cancel does not apply. It is as unfriendly approach as I have ever seen. I truly wonder if the Chef knows about that or if it is coming from the owner. Team- if you read this, please understand that you are newcomers in this business. Just got two Michelin stars. It is great achievement for the Czech market. But thats about it. You are alienating people who could help you get better or at least sustain your achievements.

Michelle star restaurant with superb, very high standard cuisine, tasting menus, paired wines and very professional attentive staff.

Had dinner with my wife at Papilio in late August of 2022. Great setting with a lovely garden in front of the restaurant, and service was good and friendly. But the food was really the highlight! Every single dish is original and delicious (pics below are just a few from the many in the degustation). If you're looking for fine dining around Prague, this should be at the top of your list. (I'd recommend planning at least a couple of hours for dinner as the degustation menu is copious and every dish is worth it :)

More than a dinner - It’s a symphony and an experience. We came with high expectations and they were all by far exceeded. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat with the great welcoming and the open view of the main kitchen - it is like watching a music concert. We took the eight-course menu with wine pairing and it was an absolute delight. Each course was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, emotion and surprise. The chef's attention to detail was evident in every dish, and the use of seasonal and local ingredients added an extra layer of freshness and complexity. What really stood out to me was the service. The staff, kitchen staff and main chief were all very attentive, explaining each dish with enthusiasm and professionalism. There is a story behind the meal selection and you somehow feel you are taking part of a journey, The wine pairing was also outstanding, perfectly complementing each course and enhancing the flavors of the food. The sommelier was also extremely friendly and professional and you can feel the passion he has for wine selection. If you are in for a Wine talk, local or international recommendations, you will enjoy his performance even more. He also gave us a tour of the “chateau” (with grand opening planed in few months) witch was a refreshing break and added another personal touch to the experience. As a Grand final, the chef Jan Knedla gave us a private tour of his kitchens (yes it’s a gastronomy place so they have several modules) in a very friendly way. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, and by far the best one in Czech Republic. If you're looking for a truly exceptional fine dining experience, this restaurant and Jan Knedla’s talent (and his team) is not to be missed. If this restaurant would be in France, it would already have Michelin star(s). We will be back!

This restaurant serves what can only be described as art on plates. All flavours and textures worked together in perfect harmony and the dishes were so beautiful! Most of the courses were personally presented by the chef and that just blew our mind, especially when he was also genuinely interested to know which ones we enjoyed best. We are experienced fine-diners so we don't get impressed easily but Papilio just gave us a totally new experience we will always remember. All the other people who served us during the dinner were very professional. Many thanks to the whole team! We will be back. Also, they are having a wellness hotel built so that's something I need to keep my eye on.
