10 Casse-Croûtes Worth a Drive from Montreal | Eater Montreal

"It’s all about the basics at this hangout in Mont-Tremblant (the greater city, not the ski village), which offers a concise menu of burgers, hot dogs, pogos, fries, onion rings and a gluten-free poutine." - Erinn Blicher

Gluten free poutine! Classic poutine was very good. A nice treat for those of us who rarely get a dedicated fryer and gf gravy. The servings are a bit small and had I known, I probably would have splurged for double cheese.

The WORST chip stand in the history of all chip stands!!!!! And trust me - as Somone who’s on the road a lot, I have had my share of chip stands. RUDE staff who simply seem angry and unhappy with their place in life. Correcting my French by the angry man serving food at a chip stand was not anywhere on my to do list 😂 Boy do I ever regret the tip I gave them 😂 Food is VERY small in portion - the double burger barely had enough meat for a half “normal” burger. The fries must have been refried several times to be THAT dry and cardboard like. Their “LARGE” poutine is barely the size of a small at ANY other chip stand. The place was empty and honestly had no life, which probably explains the sad state of the fries. 😂 Do yourself and stomach a favour and keep driving to another spot.

I got the Italian poutine, and my wife got poutine with grilled onions and pickles. Mine was interesting, but I'd get the grilled onions next time. It was chilly, so we sat inside. The patio would have been nice in warmer and dryer weather.

Kathy and Lucie are an amazing duo. They smiled as soon as I walked in and they make you feel at home. I ordered a classic cheeseburger and a small french fries. Perfect afternoon snack. Coming back soon if I don’t miss the exit on route 117.

Fries and gravy both very good. Lester hot dogs are okay. *Oct 18. Excellent fries as ustal. Outdoor seating is nice. A bit smaller portion than the other places. Gravy is really good.

We stopped after an afternoon at Mt Tremblant as it was one of the only quick stops. The food was only okay, burgers were a bit overcooked and bland. The poutine however was pretty good. Outdoor seating was nice. FYI they take Cash or Canadian debit only.

Is there anything better than a road side chip truck / stand? Fries are top shelf, seating a plenty, and the burger was exactly what I was craving

Google
The food frozen burgers or frozen breaded chicken burgers were below basic, check out the grill cheese we got after sending it back, what a joke. The fries and poutine were ok. the service was ok, although insists on tip at the counter.. not offering glasses of water and forcing clients to buy water in plastic bottles seems wrong on many levels. I would consider reviewing that policy. The longer we stayed the more negative the fast food experience & review got

Yelp
This was an awesome stop right by Mt. Tremblant. We stopped and got the original poutine and hot dogs with cheese and onions. If you want cheese- this is a great stop. The hot dog buns were grilled to perfection and the cheese melted right on top of the dogs. The poutine was on point with gravy (not over salted) and all the cheese curds!! Definitely a stop to make when skiing at tremblant.

Yelp
They do not accept card, CAD only. No sign saying this. Accepted card for the person in line in front of us then claimed they didn't accept card when it was our turn. Said this after we already ordered. Then tried to get us to pay them USD way over the price of our food. Very sketchy and they tried to rip us off. The food we got was tiny and poorly made. Bad experience.

Yelp
they hate Americans here and will try to scam you. they pretended they didn't accept card for us but accepted card for the French speaking customers . really bad

Yelp
Very friendly service and the cheeseburgers with the cabbage are delicious. Good poutine, too

Yelp
Americans, do not come here. They refused to accept credit cards and charged us the CAD price in USD; ~20% more. The next Canadians to walk through the door paid with credit. Btw, the food sucks too.

Yelp
Fast Food place that has the distinct Canadian Flavor. We went there to get Poutine, which as it appears was a good thing since all the other places were closed on the 2nd of January. The place is cash only and as a large outdoor deck but the inside dining area is pretty small. We went in as 2 families and the churn is pretty quick. We got our seats and went inline to order. There is basically 1 window with a register and a kitchen behind it. The menu is pretty basic but food is great. My son got a burger while me and my wife got ourselves a Poutine combos with some drinks. The food is nothing special but very filling and tasted amazing. The owners were nice enough to accept US Dollars in lieu of Canadian Cash but the exchange is 1 for 1 so we kinda lost out on that but nonetheless we were still happy!

Yelp
Americans STEER CLEAR!! The woman said they only take cash with a card reader sitting on the counter, so I gave her USD cash amount even though the bill was in CAN, then she proceeds to tell me that they DON'T have CHANGE and wouldn't calculate the USD price equivalent? The French-speaking customers after me paid with a card without issue. We approached her about the issue and she gave us a few different excuses, then says the extra money I paid from using USD instead of CAN is the "price for going to the bank to exchange the money." I was overcharged, lied to, and the food was trash. TAKE YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Yelp
Sooooooooooo sad..... I'm a sucker for a great steamed hot dog with "moutarde-chou". I didn't know you can have a bad one until here... I mean it's a steamed hot dog.. I would NOT go out of my to try this place again. The bread was stale, the coleslaw was dry and the fries had no seasoning :( it made me sad. If you're in the neighborhood and need to grab a quick, greasy meal, head on over to P'tit Stop.... best burgers ever!

Yelp
Tasty and friendly and cute! Not much else to say, we rolled through at a weird time of day and faced no lines, just a smiling face. We ordered 2 veggie burgers and shared an order of fries. They were all tasty, not spectacular, but good basic casse-croute.

Yelp
Very ordinary. I don't know what the first two reviewers were eating to give it 5 stars. American tourists perhaps. Sorry if I've offended any Americans, but hey... it's common for us.

Yelp
I've been coming here for the past 30 years. Growing up just north of here, we always stopped in on our way to Montreal. To this day we still go at least once a year, even though we live in New York City now. Still my favorite burger ever, fantastic hot dogs, and some of the best poutine I've ever had.

Yelp
Old-fashioned roadside burger and poutine joint. Counter service with indoor and outdoor tables. Simple menu of burgers, hot dogs and poutine.

Yelp
For a poutine and hot dog spot it's really good. I was surprised. Many people have spoken of this off the highway place so we had to try it. Their hotdogs all dressed are delicious, poutine perfect and onion rings are good too. Burgers don't compare to 5 guys but they were alright. Reasonably priced which is also very nice for this area! I gave it a try so maybe you'd like to too :)
