"Renilde Hammacher-van den Brande served as a curator at the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen for many years and would no doubt have been proud of the restaurant that bears her name. Located in a creatively landscaped rooftop garden on the sixth floor of what is now Depot Boijmans, this place affords stunning views over the city. In the afternoon, the restaurant is reserved for museum visitors; in the evening, it opens its doors to everyone who wishes to discover chef De Jong's surprise menu. This creative chef has a penchant for vegetables and bold combinations. His culinary audacity shines through in his sublime combination of elderflower ice cream, the subtle bitterness of Belgian endive caramel and rhubarb root. Prepare to be blown away!" - Michelin Inspector

After a surreal experience in the depot - stunned by the Ikea ‘gieter’ and the HEMA ‘fluitketel’ - we had dinner with 6 at Renilde. The ambiance is nice although quite loud. The food requires a special taste, some dishes were fabulous (the coquilles were great, the dear was tasty), some were okay (the cabbage was a lot of cabbage), one was terrible (the radish risotto with seaweed was uneatible - all 6 agreed). The wine pairing was also not recommendable, ‘nature wines’ which have nothing to do with wine. Avoid! Service was okay, sometimes the wait between dishes long (once we got a dish twice). Not well organized.

Good stop after this interesting museum with a rooftop view of the city from the terrace. The interior is a tall glass atrium, warmly lit, with colorful chairs and wood tables. They have a separate Wilder Land tea menu, which is worth ordering from.

We had the most wonderful dinner on the Terrance enjoying the summer evening weather. We enjoyed the 4 course set menu (two of us swapped out the dessert for the cheeses). My favourite dish was the white asparagus “spaghetti” but every dish had amazing flavours and we certainly didn’t go hungry. They have matched wines by the full and half glass. I had the half glass option. The wines were interesting and well matched to the meals although I would rush out to buy any of them.

A fantastic experience at Renilde, everything was perfect. Each meals were made perfectly with attention to flavor, presentation and temperature. Highly recommended

One of the best dinners I ever had in Europe, the menu changes every day and the one we got this time was amazing, we chose the menu with the wines and was perfect, the service is also really good, be prepared to enjoy dinner for at least 3 hours

We dined at Renilde, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We opted for the 6-course menu, but the portion sizes were so enormous that we felt bloated by the third course. The menu was heavily plant-based, with just one chicken dish and one seafood dish, making the price feel unjustified. To make matters worse, nearly every dish included some sort of foam—clearly, they were overly excited about a new foam machine. By the end, we were completely tired of it. To add to the frustration, they served us the main dish before the starter. They only realized the mistake after we had already finished our main course. Since it was a surprise menu, we hadn’t noticed until they brought out the missed starter dishes. As an apology, they served us three glasses of an experimental red wine, even though we were in the middle of enjoying a bottle of dry white wine. The red wine clashed with the moment and ruined the vibe even further. Overall, it was a very poor experience, from the disorganized service to the uninspired and excessive food choices. Definitely not a place we’d recommend or revisit.

This restaurant exceeded our expectations! From the attentive and great service to the original dishes, but also how well they accommodated my allergies (lactose intolerance). We definitely will come back!

I stopped by 25 minutes before closing time, just to have a quick espresso. The waiter refused, saying they were closing in 15 minutes. I politely explained I’d drink it quickly and leave right away, but he reacted quite nervously. Very disappointing and unwelcoming attitude. A shame, as I had heard good things about this place. Hospitality should last until the door closes.* --
