RICO'S

"Rico Zandonella's restaurant stands out from the crowd! It is charming, cosy, colourful and packed with art – a tastefully eclectic mix of styles and highly individual decorative details. In addition, the service is pleasingly laid-back and professional. Served in the form of a set menu comprising three to eight courses, the food has an international flavour; to accompany it, choose from the nicely curated wine list, which has a particularly good selection from Switzerland and France. There is a set lunch menu Wed-Fri. For anyone looking for a venue for private events: you can book Rico's Privé." - Michelin Inspector

Rico’s in Küsnacht is a feast for the senses before you even take your first bite. The interior is otherworldly — deep red walls with a tufted finish, bold art pieces, and a sense of theatre in every corner. It feels intimate yet full of character, the kind of place where you want to linger. The set menu lets you choose your number of courses, and every plate is a carefully composed piece of art, balancing flavour, colour, and texture. Service is warm, precise, and unpretentious, matching the high calibre of the cuisine. From the bread service (with its perfectly chilled butter) to the last bite of dessert, the whole experience feels curated and special. True haute cuisine, executed with personality — highly recommend.

We enjoyed an amazing dinner at this cozy Michelin-starred restaurant. The food was both beautifully presented and delicious, showcasing refined international flavours. The set menu, offering between three and eight courses, provided a thoughtfully curated culinary experience. The service was attentive, courteous, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening.

The food unfortunately did not meet my expectations for a fine dining experience. I had high hopes, which were sadly not fulfilled. However, the foie gras was excellent – it was interesting to try different preparation styles. Also, the service was quite underwhelming: very slow, unmotivated, and overall, we didn’t feel particularly welcome. Staff were rarely around or available. The wine recommendations could also use improvement.

The same decoration like last time we were here, a couple of years ago. The offer of dishes has followed to global trend: One menu from which several dishes to chose from. One person opted for the 3 course menu and one for the 5. Service was at the beginning attentive, but with the arrival of more guests we were somewhat left behind. While the dishes were very tasty they were not very large. A person who has tasted a real tempura was extremely disappointed by the dish called tempura. We were offered 3 small slices of bread and a large portion of butter. The empty small bread basket stayed on the table for the entire time, likewise the plates with the butter knife. During the time the 5 course menu was served, i.e. portion 2 and 3, my partner was sitting in front of an empty table. In other restaurants, even normal rated ones, one usually offers a granita or at least puts an empty plate in front of the guest. To top it all, on the invoice appeared two 5 course menus, fact which was at least swiftly corrected. Overall, used to be an excellent restaurant, but the location has become a bit of a seeing and to be seen.

I have been to Rico’s many times for the last few years. Unfortunately with always the same experience : fantastic food, with sets menus that are really tasty, original, creative , deserts that are great and Rico has always a great smile when he comes to see you . But, but there are always some little details that are not good, mostly in the service area that make you leave with an impression that is a bit so so . Worst when cars parked block yours ( just because they are regulars and park wherever they want) or spotlights are not well directed and the light is just on your eyes. Please Rico pay attention to these little details . As it’s said , the devil is in the details. Your cooking deserves great recognition.

This is not a 2 star michelin, but a 2 star restaurant. I have never had such a horrible experience from the entry through an empty restaurant, to water dripping on our table and on our foods and ending with the server asking for a tip after being rude to my fiance. the food was totally meh with the only good thing being the duck liver. shrimp was clearly overcooked, but they did not seem to care. When we asked for explanation about the food we were treated with superiority and arrogance. Something must be wrong with the Michelin guide..

Unquestionably the least impressive 1 Michelin star restaurant I've ever dined at. The food was good, and the staff were friendly, but in a way that would suggest a price point that is half of what they charge. The outdoor seating area where they served lunch resembles more of a casual ordinary restaurant, again, fine if you're paying an ordinary price, but completely misaligned with their price point. The idea that this place has the same Michelin ranking as other zurich 1 star spots like Igniv and KLE is absurd. Again, the staff were friendly, and the food was nice, but the quality of the overall experience wasn't worth half of what they charge, especially relative to other Micheline star spots in Zurich.

Yelp
Our dinner at Rico's was, in a nutshell, not remarkable. For the Michelin rating and the price I would have expected exceptional service and a little more ambiance. The food was delightful, but trying to get to a place where we understood how to order was a chore. Perhaps we chalk that up to being Americans. But little misses like providing only 6 dinner rolls for 7 guests, and forgetting wine pairings, and telling me a could not order a coffee drink because they concentrate on wines, just didn't live up to the hype for me. And the clincher was that my entree, the veal dish, was slightly tough and chewy. And yes I have had veal many times where it was moist and succulent and delicious. Somewhat disappointing experience overall for me.
