Saó

"Located in the upper part of the city, Saó boasts an evocative name (which translates as “ripeness” in English) that describes the “perfect maturity” of ingredients used here. Valencia-born chef Juanen Benavent develops his menus based on locally sourced seasonal produce, creating traditional dishes with a strong French influence, which comes from four years working at the Goust restaurant in Paris. Choose from three menus (Llavor, Guerminat and Arrels), which vary in terms of the number of dishes they each offer." - Michelin Inspector

Best dinner I’ve ever had in my life. For only €45, we had 14 courses, with each course being better than the last. No wonder it is on the Michelin guide, but I would definitely recommend it myself. Expect to be here from opening at 20:30, till past midnight.

Everything was great, but the service could have been better. The lady who was attending us, yes she explained us the food and etc, but the way she place the cutlery, she was kinda careless and inattentive. It was not just once or twice, it was every time she had to set the table for the foods. There were 7-8 different foods so… it was disappointing to watch honestly coz it’s a fine dining restaurant so I think the service should have been on point too. Not sure if I would come again.

Yesterday my boyfriend and I were in this restaurant. We took the biggest set with food. It seemed like these dishes would never stop coming, we ate very tasty, the service was just top class, we had a great time. The atmosphere is five, the service is five, the food is five. The bill came to 179 €, I did not regret a single euro that I paid, and even ate all the desserts, I usually do not eat sweets, and I did not even scold myself)) I am delighted. Thank you

For once, Michelin guide did not disappoint. One can see (taste) that there is passion and commitment behind each dish. Good sequencing of different flavors, divided into many small courses, taking one through a tasting journey of discovery. Pleasant to the eye presentations with mostly well-balanced tastes and textures; very few off-key notes. Excellent service with pleasant staff and notably, a good list of properly priced local wines. Nice atmosphere and location close to Metro station. In a nutshell, Superlative with capital S value for money. Just one little note: there could be a tad more attention into bathrooms' cleanliness which was just about acceptable and not in line with the rest. Next time I'm in Barcelona I'll be there again. Thank you, Sao

Really a hidden gem. The food was really but really good. Great flavors and excellent Catalan wines. The interior of the restaurant looks a little bit outdated compared to innovative dishes that were served. We will definitely come back as soon as the new menu comes out.

A fine gastronomic journey. The set tasting menus leave you wanting more! We had the standard tasting menu experience, with each tiny dish providing a carnival of tastes and textures. Wonderful! Everything is seasonal so the menu changes accordingly :) Next time, I would leave out the bread (so as not to fill up before the main and dessert)!

Great cuisine deserving of a star. Some wonderful bites and creative presentation. We also loved our waiter, Oriol, who was exceptional for such a young gentleman. It still needs a bit of work in other areas, however, including the wine pairings, atmosphere (which is quite stark), and details of service (cleaning bread crumbs away, refilling water, etc.). On the wine, they really should level-up a bit. Cava served for the first 4 courses and generally serving very young wines not quite on par with the food. Appreciated that they served local wines, but there are better local options. This is nitpicking though. Overall, a very enjoyable experience for a great value and we would return!

Yelp
Best. Meal. Ever. And extremely affordable tasting menu (50-75 euros and even less at lunchtime)! Honestly probably the best meal I had in Barcelona. At a loss for words. Everything was solid except the two "mains". Here's the middle tier tasting menu without the cheese tasting course: Germinat tasting menu: 1. Bacon / cheese chips - 8/10 2. Fish roe chips - 8/10 3. Egg thing dish - very cool presentation - 7/10 4. Smoked sardines - 8.5/10 5. Salty creme brûlée with eggplant - 1000000000/10 6. Pickled meat croquette - 6/10 *Bread service - absolute best salted smoked butter and homemade sourdough* - 10/10 7. Mushroom salad - 10/10 8. Lamb gyoza with hummus - 10/10 (minus the hummus which was a little weird in this combination) 9. Cod with carbonara - 5/10 (context: I hate cod generally but this was cooked to perfection but sauce was a little weird) 10. Pork meatloaf - 4.5/10 11. Cucumber sorbet - pre-dessert palate cleaner - 10/10 12. Dessert: orange mousse with white chocolate, orange sorbet, almond brioche - 5/10 (sorbet was great but the bottom base was way too sweet) *Petit fours: cute TLDR DONT WAIT AND BOOK THIS PLACE ASAP AND THANK ME LATER or not

Yelp
Are you kidding me? This place is a joke. We are OK with the mystery menus, but expected some culinary flair. The plates are cheap crackers with mayo on top, cheap rice with uninteresting shrimp. This place will have to close down soon.
