Tucked into the elegant Lenkerhof gourmet spa resort in Lenk im Simmental, Restaurant Spettacolo delivers a stunning 6-course menu that showcases modern Swiss cuisine, worthy of its 16 Gault Millau points. Our evening was near perfection, blending bold flavors with warm hospitality, and their kid-friendly policy was a true joy—huge thanks for making families feel so welcome!
We kicked off with aperitifs: a crisp Simmentaler Mango Mountain wheat beer (fruity and local) and a zesty Campari soda. The 2020 Aalto red wine, with its velvety berry notes, paired beautifully with the savory courses.
The kitchen’s greeting—a crème brûlée with foie gras—was crazy delicious, fusing creamy custard with rich, silky foie for an indulgent start. The courses followed:
1. **Venison with tamarind**: Tender, gamey venison with tangy tamarind glaze—alpine meets exotic.
2. **Risotto porcini with Belper truffle**: Silky, earthy porcini risotto topped with shavings of Belper truffle, a hard cheese bursting with pungent depth—pure decadence.
3. **Fresh goat cheese with nuts and figs**: Creamy, tangy cheese with crunchy nuts and sweet figs—a fresh delight.
4. **Pig sirloin from Luma**: Juicy, smoky sirloin, grilled flawlessly.
5. **Calf steak and potato**: Succulent veal with buttery potatoes—elegant, if slightly understated.
6. **Carrot cake with carrot ice cream**: Moist, spiced cake with innovative carrot ice cream—a playful, absolutely amazing finish.
The warm, family-friendly service (with thoughtful touches for the kids) and cozy, nostalgic dining room made it unforgettable. At ~CHF 150-200 per person (with wine), it’s a worthy splurge. 4.5 stars for this experience. Nevertheless Spettacolo’s culinary brilliance and kid-welcoming vibe make it a Lenk gem. We’ll be back!
