Restaurant Sveti Nikola

We ate here based on the many positive reviews. The food was certainly not bad, but considering the price, there were quite a few things to remark on. The waiter was attentive at first, but as the evening went on, we saw less and less of him. You would expect that after serving each course, he would briefly check whether everything is alright — not only when it’s already clear that you’ve finished eating. My husband had the scampi cocktail; unfortunately, it was mostly cocktail sauce and lettuce, with at best half a scampi cut into four pieces. Our complaint about this was not taken seriously. The shared seafood platter we had afterwards felt rather carelessly prepared. The dish was described as being served with garnish, but this turned out to be just a local spinach-and-potato dish that was full of sand. Nothing else. The prawns were not very fresh and partly burnt. On top of that, the intestinal tract had not been removed, which is something you may reasonably expect at this price point. The squid was also full of sand. The fish itself was very tasty, but at the very least we should have been asked whether we wanted it filleted. The wine was good and very reasonably priced. But overall, we left with a somewhat uncared-for feeling. The small farewell bottle of liquor was appreciated, but I would have preferred simply having a good meal for the amount we paid.

Although not perfect, this restaurant is head and shoulder above other places in Poreč, in terms of the quality of the food. Their service is also exceptional. Mr. Nikola, the owner of the restaurant, would personally greet every guest during their stay, which is quite unusual and impressive. They have a daily special menu for both lunch and dinner. The lunch consists of three course and costs about 14 euro. The dinner has 4 courses and price is about 20 euro. I had the opportunity to try both, and I must say they offer exceptional value given the quality of the food, plus the excellent service. The calamari is my favorite - it is both fresh and delicious. I am however less impressed with the grilled fish. Somehow it tasted bland, and less tender, compared to the grilled fish I had last night at another local restaurant nearby.

I would put 6 out of 5 of I could. The staff is super helpful: they changed the direction of the warming projectors, so we have more warmth. The food was fantastic! In Italy this restaurant would have a Michelin star - the food portions are very well measured. They are not too big and not too small. The taste is perfect. Also the location is very good.

We were recommended to go to this restaurant and as soon as we got there we could see why. Everything was just so good. The tables looked great, the waiters were very smart and friendly, and all our food was excellent. Everything we had was delicious but a highlight was the fish panna cotta which was amazing! We loved absolutely everything about this restaurant and would recommend it to everyone.

Had a wonderful dinner here. Very friendly staff and delicious food. Everything was very luxurious and not even that expensive for what you get. The staff speaks fluent English and German, so very useful for tourists .Highly recommended!

Wanted to go here for a while Had really high expectations which hadn't been completely fullfilled. Food is good Portions size are fare Loved the dessert and mushroom soup Main dish which was fish fillet was tasty but I found a small bone Which really shouldn't happen And vegetables that came with fish were really bland and overcooked. Calamari were really tasty. When it comes to service They did their best but something was lacking. There was this really tall waiter, he was really nice and helpfull even though he explained that he was new. All in all a good restaurant with lovely food and few things to work on.

We were looking for a good restaurant for our final dinner in Croatia and found this place in Michelin guide. That is why we had really high expectations which hadn't been fulfilled. Compared to other restaurants from Michelin guide this one does not really taste like one. Starter from Chef was weird and not tasty. Bread was plain and seemed underbaked. Scallops were good. In octopus salad octopus was overcooked. Interesting dish is tomato ice cream with mozzarella. Main dish which was fish fillet with truffles was tasty but I found a small bone and vegetables were tasteless and undercooked. Big choice of desserts but really nothing interesting to chose. They offered chocolate soufflé which appeared to be just fondant and they charge for ice cream to it separately. When it comes to service, lots of waiters seemed like students, did not take cutleries after taking plates. Generally speaking, average restaurant, have no idea how they managed to be in Michelin guide.

The service was really, really good. The staff were talking multiple languages and were extremely friendly and efficient. Seafood was fresh and could be prepared as you like - baked in oven, on the grill and more. Courses were beautifully done and some combinations of flavors were truly creative and tasted great. We went to dine there two times in the week we were in Poreč. The restaurant is located by the seaside, with view of the sea and the shore. It’s more of a fancy place, prices a bit higher than other restaurants. But absolutely worth it! The waiter who was serving us both times was wonderful and did his job perfectly. His name was Zeljko and he knew his food and wine, for sure. We will most definitely come back the next time we visit Poreč.
