Terrazza Danieli

"Mirrors and fabrics add to the luxurious atmosphere in the dining room at this restaurant, but it is the outdoor terrace (open between May and October) with its 180° views of the lagoon and islands that is its crowning glory. The menu changes regularly in line with the seasons, and features fresh, local ingredients with the occasional hint of exotic spices as is only fitting for Venice!" - Michelin Inspector

Honestly, we came for lunch and everything was perfect. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but the breathtaking views made it worth every penny. The lady serving us was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the experience even better. The food was probably some of the best we had during our time in Venice.

Nice atmosphere but not extraordinary (as we expected). The food was definitely not worth the price (from a taste point of view). The one thing we both enjoyed and was really good (as taste & presentation), was the tiramisu (dessert). Furthermore the service was slow (although very kind and smiling). We kind of got tired of waiting for them getting the empty plates, etc. The bread selection (&olive oil) was very abundant though. We were getting new without ever asking for it. In sum we paid a bit less than 400 euros but had far better and tastier dinner at other places with 100- 200.

Increible hotel/restaurant ! What a beautiful experience from start to the end! This is what Venice has to offer to the world! Classic architecture to the max! Amazing classic Italian cuisine.

We had reservations for us and our son. The view was absolutely stunning, overlooking the grand canal. Service was excellent. The restaurant personnel were so friendly and accommodating. We ordered the chateaubriand and it was so delicious. Coupled with the appetizers, wine, and dessert, the whole experience was very memorable. We love this place and wish to revisit in the future.

Google
Beware of the seagulls here! What should have been the most amazing final night in Venice was unfortunately a let down for us. After seeing seagulls swoop down on 2 others tables and take their bread, my partner was the unfortunate victim of one seagull defecating on him - this place needs a falcon or parasols - or both. The staff really let themselves down here. They never once asked us if we were OK or offered to clean or move our table, and when you're spend €550 on a meal for two, I expect better. A lovely american girl had a Tide pen in her purse which she generously offered and we were very grateful for. The location, views and food were beautiful, however this venue needs to take some tips from the nearby St Regis who have a falcon to keep the local seagull pests in check.

Google
our favorite restaurant in italy! so glad i we celebrated our anniversary dinner here - everything was perfect! the views were jawdropping, service was incredible - seriously they were so kind and attentive. they offered to take pictures of us, came to chase after me when i accidentally left my portable charger!! food was great too - we ordered their steak for 2 that came with veggies and potatoes! we ordered dessert after, a chocolate cake and something else - i forgot what my boyfriend ordered haha, but they were delish! and even gave us a lil candle moment for our anniversary 🥹. definitely recommend this spot for gorgeous golden hour + sunset views!

Google
We had really exceptional time on the terrace of Danieli. The service was great, food fantastic, staff was super friendly and helpfull while choosing the right food and wine, but the biggest experience was the view from the terrace. We loved it and we highly recommend the visit here! Will definitely come back next time🩷

Yelp
View was spectacular and food was spectacular. So far our favorite sit down in Italy. Had the prawn carpaccio with caviar, was devine. Followed by a cacio pepi that was very creative. Service was even better

This restaurant is everything California establishments wish they could be - class, excellent service, and set a standard of excellence.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this rooftop restaurant in Venice, but it ended up being a major letdown. Despite there being only three occupied tables during our entire lunch, we were made to feel bad for not having a reservation. The service was extremely poor -- we waited nearly an hour for our food, and the staff seemed indifferent and inattentive. To top it off, the place was swarming with bees, making it impossible to enjoy our meal. The view, which was supposed to be a highlight, was mediocre at best. There are far better options in Venice that offer great views, good service, and a more pleasant dining experience. Save your time and money.

Yelp
We went for lunch, and the food and the service was great. There is a terrace view of the Grand Canal.

Yelp
We had breakfast here our two days at the hotel which is buffet-style and is included with the room (or can be added). The views are wonderful due to the prime location of this hotel directly at San Marc's Bascilia and the square beside the Doge's Palace. They are waterfront so you can see an expansive view of the Venetian waterfront with a few of the island views ahead of you and boats and water taxis going by. It's stunning. The buffet breakfast was just OK and, had it not been included in the room, I doubt we'd have paid for it more than once. It's basic fare and no option, that we were told, to order from a menu for made-to-order items like omelettes and such. They also have a dinner and lunch menu which we did not use.

Yelp
In my opinion, this restaurant has some of the best views in all of the world ... yes, you heard me right ... the entire world. Venice is a magical city ... and few rooftop restaurants exist here with views of the lagoon. You can see a panoramic view of the lagoon and part of the city and on a beautiful, blue sky day it would rival any movie location for atmosphere. Having said that ... the hostess stand is a bit snooty and you'd better have reservations made in advance. We ate here twice for lunch while staying at the hotel and made advanced reservations. We saw several people (including hotel guests) who were turned away from a walk-in, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. You MUST make reservations to ensure you get a spot. I am surprised to see that many criticize the food. We felt that it was our best meal in Venice. There is a Michelin star. Yes ... it is insanely expensive! A small plate of pasta (and the portions here are small) cost 30 euro + 12 euro per person 'table fee'. I find it a bit tacky to charge hotel guests 12 euro for lunch and 16 euro for dinner. Maybe charge non-guests that amount ... but as expensive as the rooms and food is, there is no need to squeeze guests for an extra 50 euro for a table of 4, just to sit! All of the ingredients are fresh and sourced fairly local. Most of the pasta is made in-house and the presentation is fancy! The waiters are professionals ... full white jacket service. You feel like royalty ... and they are very good about explaining the dishes. As stated, the portions are small and you are meant to order a starter, first course and second course in order to be full. Given the cost of the dishes, prepare to spend well over 100 euro per person ... with wine, likely closer to 150 or 200 Euro, unless you are eating light. There is a breakfast buffet offered at a discounted rate if you buy it at check-in. However, we wanted to sleep late, so we opted for lunch. The lunch and dinner menus are very similar, so don't expect lighter fare at lunch. I prefer lunch because the views are better ... but at night, they light candles and make the atmosphere more romantic. One thing I hate is that they installed a big canopy overhead on the deck. In my opinion, this ruins the experience somewhat. I'd rather blue skies above ... hopefully they'll get rid of this canopy, or retract it on nice weather days. Still, if you have a table next to the ledge, you'll be treated to one of the best views of any restaurant, anywhere. They also have a great wine and sparkling wine selection. Get a glass of local prosecco or champagne. You deserve it!

Yelp
An absolute delight! This place is a captivating blend of beauty, warmth, and culinary excellence. The staff's friendliness and hospitality create a welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. And let's talk about the food--simply divine! Each dish is a burst of flavors that tantalize the taste buds, leaving you craving more. One of the best parts is the generous portions you receive for the price. Unlike some pricey establishments that serve small portions, this restaurant goes above and beyond to ensure you leave with a satisfied appetite. Every serving is a delightful experience that will leave you enchanted. Needless to say, I'm already planning my return visit. This gem of a place has won my heart, and I can't wait to indulge in their culinary wonders again!

Yelp
We went for a birthday dinner. Group of 7. Ordered appetizers, two courses each, bottles of wine etc. One of the people in our party never received their food. They also ordered a drink that never arrived. Our waiter would disappear for ten to fifteen minutes at a time. Our water and drinks were empty often. When we spoke to the manager on the way out, he said he would see what he could do...but then he didn't take our name or phone number, so obviously won't do anything. Had waited a dozen years to come back and eat here. Color us all very disappointed. Epic let down to say the least.

Yelp
Came by for lunch Gorgeous views when seating outside. Appetizer bread was nice , warm and soft. Menu is very different and there's nothing normal; however you can ask the server for something more simple and they will provide various options. I went with a grilled Sea bass with roasted potatoes and it was good. Our server was great , offered to take pictures for us with the views. Nice place , good food , great service Price is way to expensive for the food. They charge you a non avoidable cover charge of 12 euros per person. Even if you eat Spaghetti with white sauce Sea bass on grill with potatoes Water Total = 142 euros. Could've gone somewhere else and ate for half the price.

Yelp
Stunning views and delicious food. Not a cheap eat by any means but you are in part paying for the view, ambience, and quality. They also had live music when we were there. Try to sit right on the balcony edge for the best experience :)

Yelp
Great food and great service, amazing views and location a little expensive but ok. I would go back. The only dead was when I called to make my reservation and I told him it was my birthday when I got there nobody knew they didn't sing happy birthday or acknowledge or even brought a piece of cake for me. I had to make this reservations two months in advance as I am traveling from Miami.

Yelp
In the perfect words of another reviewer: stay here, eat somewhere else. After checking on the dress code, all we could find was "casual" -- not "smart casual," but "casual." So one member of our party took a risk and wore shorts. We arrived on time for our 8:00PM, the table wasn't ready, we waited and walked around a bit, were told to follow the ,maitre d' to uor table, walked through the dining room and as we were being seated we heard someone growl loudly at the maitre d'. We were asked if we were in residence at the hotel and said yes. We were then informed that our guest needed to go back to his room and put on long pants. He didn't mind changing in principle, but was livid he'd been there 10 minutes already and the maitre d' hadn't noticed. Another ten minutes later, he re-arrived, and we began. But, in the interim, I saw literally half a dozen other diners wearing shorts (see pictures). This restaurant needs to get its act together on the dress code: either have one and enforce it uniformly or relax it to include shorts. But don't, don't, don't perpetuate this garbage where some people (think: cruise ship passengers in groups) get to wear shorts but everyone else can't. Let's stay it was a rough start. This place markets itself as the Daneli *Terrace* and online all the marketing shows this gorgeous roof-top hotel terrace which was -- closed when we showed up. No explanation. No apology. No apparent reason. It was kind of hot, but it wasn't raining. There was no lightning danger. We were seated inside in what I can only call the "loser room," because it's not the nice inside room next to the terrace, but another whole dinning to the right. Without the big views. Worse, we were seated in the second row, not even near a window. Worse yet, we were placed at a table next to the service station (see picture) even though two other tables for three were better located. My one view was the service station, my other view was of a partially open curtain behind which was a rack full of pots in the back of the kitchen. I didn't want to make a fuss so we silently accepted our fate, which was hard as I'd booked two months in advance. But the surprisingly fun part was we did get to watch others react, often violently, as they were placed in the loser room with us. I'd say maybe 6 tables reacted furiously to (first-row) placement. About three were upgraded. Two, after an initial hub-bub, simply accepted their fate. Another left and was never to be seen again. Net: if you're coming for the views, don't. The terrace can closed without explanation. And access to the nice inside dining room is as mysterious as nightclub's velvet rope. Food wise, it was nothing special. Not bad, but nothing special. The service was generally weak with grumpy waiters. One server in particular was great (Martine was amazing) but the rest were generally unfriendly and not helpful. I would not come back again. (Note: after emailing the restaurant manager my issues and a link to this review, he was quite proactive in trying to speak with me and eventually gave us a half-off credit on our hotel bill against the price of the meal. I thank him for that.)

Yelp
A beautiful space indoors. Lots of red velvet. Live piano music in the evening. They have an outdoor terrace but it's closed during fall and winter. It looks like it would be terrific when the weather is good. Service was friendly, attentive, and courteous. Top notch! I ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings. 190 Euros plus a 16 Euro cover charge. It would have been nice if the pours for the wine pairings would have been more timely. I should not have had an empty glass in front of me so often for so very long. The scallops were good. They came with a mushroom crisp that was very tasty. My risotto was also good. Whatever they drizzled on to provide the "sea scent" was a nice touch. I find that sous vide rarely works well with fish. The cod that was slow poached in oil was not an exception to this experience. The penultimate course was veal filet, which I found a bit disappointing. The veal was not tender and the pistachio crust seemed to work against it, making it seem chewy to me. Surprisingly, my favorite course was the pre-dessert. It seemed to primarily be crumbled vanilla wafers with a few dollops of sweet cream and some jelly. This was following by a puff pastry with a strawberry and rhubarb compote with a few edible flower petals. It was light, just a touch of sweetness, and a nice mix of textures: excellent Overall, it was a satisfactory meal but there were no courses or pairings that made me go "wow!" In the summer on the terrace is probably a much better experience. Breakfast for the hotel is in the same restaurant. The view in the morning is magnificent. Service is excellent. The food itself is a pretty standard European buffet, with a huge choice of breads and pastries but only a few hot options: scrambled eggs, sausage, sautéed mushrooms, cooked tomatoes, and very fatty and barely cooked streaky bacon. Very pricey at 53 Euros (complimentary for hotel guests at certain room rates) but the view is difficult to beat.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! Highly recommend. The view is beautiful. It is a very high class experience with excellent service. Very good with food allergies as well. The food was amazing. So fresh and great flavor. Very kind and I would like to give special attention to one of the amazing waiters, Lucia. Gracie è tutto bene!!

Yelp
We first went to Bar Dandolo to check out the beautiful hotel lobby and have a drink. The bartender was awesome and the drinks strong and tasty. I discovered that they do afternoon tea so we made a reservation for the next day. The hotel and the bar/lounge area where the tea is served is beautiful. Everything from floor to ceiling was gorgeous. The service was excellent. The tea was good and the sandwiches and sweets were good as well. I have had afternoon tea all over the world and this was not in my top but still it was enjoyable.

Yelp
Great views, great food, and a great gift for loved ones (i.e.: I have no idea what it cost but it feels worth it if you can swing it). Fanciest bottomless brunch I've ever had, that's for sure. One of the breakfast buffet stations was a slow-cooked egg in parmesan truffle foam. That's something they were just whipping up on demand. My father hit the gelato station like three times, where fresh gelato was constantly being churned. The charcuterie board collectively melts in your mouth. And explore the hotel after, it's chockfull of history and beautiful knick-knacks.

Yelp
The restaurant is located in the historic Hotel Danieli and has a beautiful terrace for outdoor dining. The decor is beautiful old world Venetian style. The staff are extremely attentive and professional. We ordered a bottle of sparking wine that the staff kindly selected for us and was reasonably priced at less than €100 for such a classy place like this one. The presentation of the dishes were carefully crafted and exquisite. The flavor profile of my dish was subtle, but I wished it had more flavor. The service was outstanding and easily a 5 star!

Yelp
Food was not up to par for what a restaurant like this should be. Don't waste your time here. The only nice thing was the view.

Yelp
I give this a three star rating because I'm absolutely torn about how to write this review. To start with the positive, their chocolate martinis are absolutely to die for! I'm absolutely ruined to have another one for the rest of my life (they also come with a 25 euro price tag). I'll never forget sipping it with the excellent view on the balcony. But I'll warn you.... It's a bar top you stop at for a view and nothing more. I would never ever eat here after what I witnessed. They have the fully set up tables out before the guests arrive... and these disgusting pigeons are permitted to literally WALK ALL OVER the tables. They didn't even attempt to provide covers for the food. A pair of ladies got up to head out and there were some leftover peanuts on their table and the pigeons literally fought each other tooth and nail over the remainder of their food.It was so bad there was pigeon blood left on the white table cloth when they were finally shooed away. As we were watching this go down, a pigeon literally pooped on my friend. I can't believe this place is up to code. I hope someone reports it if they get sick here so that they have to close the restaurant part of it down.

Yelp
We made a reservation for dinner during the summer so we could see the view from the terrazza before it got dark outside. The views are indeed amazing. The dinner is a bit pricey and I wish they had more options on the menu but food was good (although not incredible) and portions were very very filling. I'm not sure I would come back for dinner but I would perhaps come back to try the lunch or just for a drink.

Yelp
This bar is in the lobby of the Hotel Danieli. We visited the bar several times when we stayed at the Hotel in late April/early May of this year. It was a favorite spot for an afternoon relaxation refreshment, an evening cocktail and/or a nightcap. They have an afternoon tea which we made the mistake of ordering for two and there was literally enough food - wonderful food - for four people. The teas are very nice as are the choices of cocktails and the little sandwiches, scones, and pastries are pretty wonderful. We had not had lunch and that was a good thing!! At night the bar has piano music and it is very nice. The drinks are very good and you can food there most of the day/and evening. It spreads into the grand lobby and is as I said just spaciious, yet with isolated areas for conversation and a great place for couples or groups!! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing view!! NOT the luxury experience you would expect from the prices and the "Luxury Collection" name. Marriott Bonvoy should rethink this partnership. This property is not up to the "Luxury Collection" standard. Most high-end restaurants in high-end hotels (in the US) don't allow patrons to play loud music at their tables. Especially when there is live entertainment! In this case, a gentleman was employed by the restaurant to play soft rock on a guitar and sing. The table next to us was playing their own very loud music from a phone with no headphones. It made it difficult to hear the restaurant's performer and was just generally distasteful and irritating. We asked one of the servers to ask them to turn their music down because we presumed that this was unacceptable. The restaurant has a dress code so we figured there was a minimum level of decorum expected. The server snapped "if you don't want to tell them to turn it down, I'm not going to either!" and just walked away. The music continued. The manager did apologize for the rude server but asserted the family's right to play their music as loud as they wanted because he "wants all the customers to be happy". Evidently that doesn't apply to those of us who wanted to hear the performance. Maybe this is normal for Venice but just be prepared that "high-end luxury" means something different here than what you may have come to expect from Marriott's Luxury Collection in other parts of the world. You DON'T always get what you pay for unfortunately.

Yelp
Amazing view, but mediocre food. For the price tag, I don't think the food is worth it. We had much better meals in Venezia at much more affordable prices. We ordered the beef tartare, the fried sardines, the macaroni, the sea bass, and the steak. The fried sardines and the macaroni were both very good, but the other dishes just weren't memorable. The steak was not tender. The concept behind the sea bass was interesting, but the execution seemed a bit off. The highlight for me was the tiramisu, which was very good. Some things to know: - They charge a cover. - Men are expected to wear slacks (they sent Rus away initially, so he had to head back to our room and change). - They strongly encourage reservations, though when we went without one, they said they could "make room" for us (perhaps because we were staying in the hotel, though). The view is spectacular, but I'm sure you can pay less that 400 euro for it somewhere else.

Yelp
Still stunning, still divine, still romantic, still expensive. After another visit, nothing has changed. So many people give bad reviews based on the sticker shock. Yes it is very expensive. You can hit €100 per person very easily. Of course people get better prices for haute cuisine elsewhere. But elsewhere doesn't seat you in the middle of the most beautiful picture postcard imaginable. My advice... just save up a couple of hundred in your piggy bank and earmark it for Danieli. That way, when the bill comes it won't ruin what is otherwise the most stunning ambience you'll ever find in a restaurant. Still a perfect spot to propose or for that extra special occasion. Make sure you reserve for outside, preferably an hour ahead of sunset and the best seats are on the side closest to St Marco Square. Reserve accordingly.

Yelp
I was in Venice for a photography workshop and we were looking for a place to get some great shots of the lagoon and beautiful views and this was the perfect spot. We went up for drinks and found the service to be friendly and prompt. They told us we needed to leave by x time due to dinner reservations, and we appreciated the communication. We were not rushed and had time to enjoy the views, shared a great experience with friends we will never forget and toasted to our time in Venice and meeting some wonderful people. Many thanks to the Terrazza Danieli staff for being so gracious and providing wonderful service.

Yelp
I'm giving four stars only because of the price of the Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is obviously amazing with the quintessential view of the canal and boats. The Sunday brunch is 130 euros per person but includes Prosecco and a really comprehensive and delicious buffet, with made to order pasta. It was a really nice experience and the staff was attentive and friendly. We sat there for over two hours to enjoy the view and no one seemed to mind. The staff was so helpful they put chairs together with pillows to make an impromptu sleeping area for the small child at the next table. I think it's fine to have visited the hotel and dined at the restaurant once as a splurge.

Yelp
We ate here tonight and were very impressed with the service and all of their food (first course, second, and the cheesecake dessert)... Views are really nice, just remember to not wear shorts as this a rather nice place.

Yelp
Cant say enough bad things about this place. The view is great, yes, but thats where it ends. We had some time to kill and heard great things so went up to the terrace for a bite to eat, some drinks and for a great view. First, there is a heavy cover charge just to sit there, which I am fine with. You pay for a view. We ordered some drinks and we just ordered octopus, which was 46 euros. I love octopus and have it everywhere. By far the WORST I have ever had. Tasted very undercooked and way too chewy. Secondly, the sauce it was in was horrible. Our bill for the appetizer octopus entree and 2 beers was almost $100. My biggest complaint, however, is the service. After we ate, we went to have a picture taken. We asked one waiter who said he was too busy and could not take a photo. We then asked the host and his response was "did you eat here"? Obviously we ate there, why the hell else would we be there! As if he would only take a picture if we spent money there. Rude service, bad food and terribly overpriced. After 12 nights in Italy, this was by far our worst outing. Go elsewhere for better food and service.

Yelp
While in Venice for carnival, we were looking for a place to escape and enjoy a cocktail. The moment we entered this establishment we knew we had found the place. The bartenders are mixologists and very talented. The cocktails can be ordered from the menu or can be made to order. The prices are what you would expect at San Marco square. We returned several times and enjoyed the bar/lounge area and the amazing decor and service.

Yelp
This place is made for exactly two types of people: those who will pay whatever it takes to get photos from their great terrace and those who don't care what things cost. For the former, be prepared to spend 20-50 Euros per item, which includes bottled water. Espresso is only 14. Don't get me wrong, I like being pampered, will occasionally overspend because I can, and am a Starwood fan, but I expect attentive service, great offerings, superior decor, etc. when I'm paying ultra-premium prices. Service was mediocre at best (several times with no staff available for minutes--see pigeon warning below), decor was average, and the offerings (a dreadful caiparinha, mediocre Negroni, average salad) were ok for a neighborhood bar. Except for the view and being attached to a Starwood property, this place would have nothing to offer. And be aware of the pigeons during the daytime. They are both highly aggressive and numerous. I counted no fewer than 20(!!) while we were there swarming like sharks in a feeding frenzy on any unattended table. I would expect a place like this to have gotten things under control, but the staff were clearly unable to do anything useful until the next departing guests and swarm with occasionally glass breakage, feathers, loud flapping, and pigeon souvenir they may grace your head or shoulders with (shoulder for me). Actually, I'll add one more type of person who would go here: an Alfred Hitchcock fan who wants to experience an attack scene from The Birds.

Yelp
This restaurant might have one of the best views in the city... overlooking the water, the terrace is several stories up, overlooking the ocean. Unfortunately, the food is overpriced, and mediocre at best. Service felt like pushy and unwelcoming.

Yelp
This hotel is sooooo awesome. To get here, you must get a water taxi with your luggage and then you can go inside and exit the front of the hotel to the board walk. Amazing place. Everything is original, with the beautiful and great hand carved wood.

Nicole G.

Yelp
Drinks were good, views were amazing, servers were rude and the pigeons were abundant. We got pooped on and apparently that's "typical" according to the server. If the views were not so great I cannot imagine anyone dining here.

Yelp
This is one of the most spectacular dining experiences available. A beautiful location, in the most beautiful city in the world. Fantastic food. Wonderful wine. We met owners of a winery from California sitting next to us and shared tastings of wines with them. Lovely atmosphere.

Yelp
Most of the bread was stale my appetizer was cold and my entree was grey with no flavor. The view is amazing and the hotel itself but do not pay this much for such low quality food.

Yelp
This roof top restaurant has the MOST gorgeous views. AND the BEST risotto I have ever had anywhere. Impeccable service (what else would you expect at the Danieli?). Gracious, non-pretentious -- we were in jeans, (and good Italian shoes -- always wear good shoes in Italy!). ,-). Late lunch on a beautiful sunny day & we had the terrace all to ourselves. A most memorable & wonderful experience...

Yelp
The service and setting was great. The staff in the entire hotel were very gracious, welcoming and friendly during our stay - including the restaurant. I was going to give the restaurant two stars based on our dinner experience, but then I decided to go back the next morning for breakfast and saw (and tasted) their buffet, which was outstanding. I had two full plates of wonderful, fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, etc. The only breakfast food that could have been a bit better were the scrambled eggs, but then again, I've never had "bulk" scrambled eggs that were anything to write home about. The dinner, on the other hand, really fell flat. We had a total of five different dishes, and had "mediocre" to "unfortunate" experiences with all of them. There wasn't a single dish that we truly enjoyed, and most were merely "ok". There was a risotto done in a seafood broth with seafood (can't remember what) and broccoli rabe on top. The risotto was ok, but the fish was definitely not additive to the dish. The broccoli rabe was completely the wrong choice as it didn't complement the risotto or the fish at all. It was so strong in flavor by comparison that after three tries I just pushed it all aside. In addition, the dish was pretty close to room temperature. It wasn't a warm or hot meal. The scallops in "charcoal" was a lot of fuss for very little reward. This dish was room temperature as well, and I just simply didn't understand the charcoal thing. It had literally no flavor, and yet the scallops were completely encased in it. The scallops didn't appear to have any seasoning that I could taste, and the fancy sauces that were "dotted" all over the plate would have been better if they were less fussy and more plentiful. I really can't justify spending this much money for dinner here; perhaps at one third the price it would have been acceptable. However the fact that flavor was sacrificed for the attempts at creativity is a complete miss for me when it came to the dinner service.

Yelp
We decided to go eat somewhere that has a great view of the city, and Terrazza Danieli came up top of our lists everywhere we googled. The restaurant is on the top floor of Venice's Hotel Danieli. Situated right by the water, it is just steps away from the popular museums, boutiques, and restaurants. Inside the restaurant, it is just drop down beautiful! With plush seats, luxurious decor, and superb service, it is well worth every penny. We went without reservation, and since it was after peak hours, we were seated right away. We asked to be seated by the windows so we could have a pretty view, and we were given one of the best seats! But, do make reservations beforehand, as reservations are recommended! The restaurant's menu consists of á la carte, and tasting menu. In addition, the restaurant offers amazing vegetarian dishes, desserts, and an extensive wine list. I looked on the restaurant's online menu, but it seems like my dish isn't available anymore. I think the most similar one would be their pumpkin cannelloni. At this point into our honeymoon, I was getting kind of tired of having pasta. When I had this dish, I think it made my Western side content. Obviously, it's still Italian food, so it couldn't fully satisfy my cravings, but it sufficed. The pasta had a savoury taste that was pretty different from your usual pomodoro (tomato) sauce, cream sauce, and carbonara (egg yolk and meat). I believe the pasta was more vegetable based, with pesto, tomatoes, eggplant and cheese, but oh my, it was very good! I'm not too sure what it was in the pasta that left my Western palate satisfied, but whatever it was, it brought me internal peace, temporarily. We later realized that this restaurant was recommended by Michelin Guides, a world renown guide featuring the best of the best restaurants around the world. If you're in the area and want a meal with an amazing view, we definitely recommend this place. Although it comes at a higher price, it would be the perfect place to dine out with your special loved ones on special occasions.

Yelp
Breakfast is excellent. If you are on a Cappuccino quest, this terrazza is a must.

Yelp
Very pricey (cover charge added to the price of the meal), but the food was great, and they have the best view of Grand Canal entrance (located at the top of the Hotel Danielli - two buildings away from the Dodge Palace). Be forewarned, portions are on the small side, but the food was fresh and tasty. The wait staff were friendly, and the service was good. Since we paid for the cover charge, we took our time having a leisurely lunch, enjoying wine, food, dessert and view. We watched boats of all sizes come in and out of the Grand Canal, and also saw a cruise ship come by a different canal. I would definitely eat here again if we come back to Venice.

Yelp
What can I say, old style opulence, a view that is simply divine, attentive service and well cooked food. But a long way short of value for money. Of course nit what it's there for, its to provide this type of dining to its guests and other visitors. I am sure no locals eat here and to some degree few Italians. The service ok, but not fantastic, too long to refill glasses, had to flick and place own napkins, etc. The food good, but no fiz all safe without adventure maybe that's fine for the clients they are aiming for. I had scallops to start with and they were huge and very well cooked, followed by tempora seafood, again great, but maybe more in tune with customers than Venice. Topped it off with a great Soave.

Yelp
We were staying at the Danieli and decided to go up for a mid-afternoon drink on the terrace. This is hands down the best view in Venice! It's a must see! We decided to have an English Tea, and we made the right choice, the scones were made when fresh and came out warm. My chocolate dessert had a white chocolate truffle on it that was amazing, when I asked the waiter what the filling was in the truffle he ran back to ask the chef and brought me 3 more! We left him a €10 tip and later discovered they comped part of our afternoon tea on our hotel bill.

Yelp
Had dinner here recently with my husband while we were on our honeymoon. This place had the most amazing view and was incredibly romantic. The food was outstanding and our waiter was extremely attentive. The only bad spot was that they seated some unruly kids right next to us. If I'm paying $$$$ for dinner, I really don't want to have to listen to your kids whining and then watch them run around the restaurant like maniacs, nearly tripping waiters carrying trays of food. Of course, this is a review of the parents, and not the restaurant. Everything else was superb! I highly recommend for a special occasion.

Yelp
When a restaurant has 4Euro signs and claims to be luxurious, I am going to evaluate on those claims. That's why you may find me rating a simple place higher than a 5 Star 4 Euro sign type of place unless the quality matches the claim. I rated Terrazza Danieli only 2 Stars because of service, price & quality of mixed drink. If I spend 24 Euro on a Caipirinha AND this drink is listed on your menu you should know how to make this drink correctly. They were real limes in it but if you dont mulge them, the drink will lack flavor. Then the pigeon issue...lesson not learned yet that if you place finger snacks on the tables you should remove them when no guests are sitting on that table or else, like it happened 3x while we were there, the pigeons will storm onto the snacks and break remaining glassware! Then the waiter didnt clean up the broken glass until another couple was seated on that same table?! The view is spectacular but honestly dont rest on it alone. We had a mixed salad as well and it was A Ok nothing special...

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. The best food along with the best view. Best tip: make a reservation and get there before the sun goes down. Absolutely loved the variety of wines and champagne. I tried the truffle pasta with jerusalem sauce amazing and the sea bass. I then tried their desserts! Creme brûlée. AMAZING. Service amazing too! Looking forward to going back !

Yelp
I don't normally write reviews on Yelp. But this was the worst dining experience I've ever had in my entire life. And cost $100+ per person. First of all.. Little footnote. It costs 16 Euros a person JUST TO SIT DOWN. Regardless of if you eat dinner. I came with a party of 4 and we were already $100+ in before we even ordered our 9 Euro bottle of water. Service was awful. 30 minutes after being seated we were still not even asked for our drink order. It seemed like no waiter knew what table they were responsible for... Others in the restaurant that we knew complained about the same thing. On to food... I ordered the rack of lamb... $70+ dish that was cold and mediocre at best. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi appetizer that was $50+ for FOUR SHRIMP AND A SLICED GRAPEFRUIT. Yes this place has an unbelievable view and is incredibly romantic. But don't come here expecting good food, good service, and a fair price.

Yelp
You pay for the view, nothing else (and a great view at that! - but for the view, I might consider giving it a 1). The 16€ per person makes sense but there is no reason that a tiny piece of fish should be 69€ and not very good. For 2 people it was over 240€ for food that was very unmemorable. The waitstaff was also totally disorganized. One of the waiters actually poured water into our wine... Definitely will not be coming back here.

Yelp
You go for the views - they are spectacular. Food and service were sub-par (over cooked chewy fish, spilled wine, one of us got hit in the head with a plate). The prices are very high, even taking the view into account. I was disappointed SPG would allow this type of experience in their hotels.
