Restaurant Torschänke

Beautiful restaurant with a different atmosphere on each floor. We made a reservation for six people online and greeted warmly. The dining room was decorated elegantly and we were given many recommendations for an aperitif. The whole meal from start to finish was wonderful. There was also a nice wait time between our courses. There’s a nice wine menu to choose from or they will suggest wine pairing. The price is also great for the quality of service and food you’re getting.

Michelin quality food and atmosphere. A definite visit if near the area. Reservations started at 7pm with an aperitif. Ordered 3 or 4 course Menu with several bottles of wine to pair. Group of 6 were accommodated with a reservation easily. All food ordered was excellent and as expected. Photos don’t do it justice. Flavors combined to make a masterful experience for the customer. The chef definitely has expectations of the food lover’s experience. Our food journey lasted approximately 3 hours and wound us through appetizers, main dishes and desserts that afforded a journey yet to be matched for the area. Respect the atmosphere, wear appropriate attire (business casual) and sit back and relax for a unique food journey experience.

great, cozy ambience with attention to detail. very attentive and friendly service. a large selection of drinks. The menu is not to big, but it is difficult to decide because everything sounds delicious. i am so happy that i came here. Everything I have tried I would order again.

Food was really good. They don't have tons of options but the ones they have are perfectly prepared. There is a bit of everything,and I would highly recommend using their "Menu" option (you save some money if you get a starter , main and dessert). The place gets loud when more people are in, but it's doable. Ventilation could be a thing to rework but they opened the front door and a couple of windows so there was air moving and it cooled off the room.

Truly phenomenal. Ambiance was upscale but comfortable. The food was far beyond expectation. A truly hidden gem.

This is the best place to experience German cuisine with a modern twist! I've never had a meal here that I didn’t enjoy, and my most recent visit made me an even more devoted fan. There was a mix-up with my reservation—I had tried to modify it, but accidentally canceled instead, likely due to a language misunderstanding on my part. When we arrived at the scheduled time, we were initially told the restaurant was closed for a private event. However, after I explained the situation, the owner graciously honored our reservation and allowed my family to dine downstairs, where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Dining at Torschänke is always a joy, and it's exactly why I chose it for my very first Mother’s Day celebration. A heartfelt thank-you to the owners for their kindness and exceptional culinary artistry.

Interesting place. I like small dedicated menus. Starters was quite tasty and interesting. Especially carpaccio. Service is good. Little pricy for the countryside and small town like Dudeldorf. Ratings are below (1 - worse, 5 - the best): The overall food is good - 4/5. Service is good - 4/5. Atmosphere is nice - 4/5. Prices of food and drinks are high - 4/5. Overall - good experience.

Had an amazing meal here! One of the best places to eat in this area. I took the waiters suggestion and ordered the pork cutlet with the plum sauce. It was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed every bite of it!

What a beautiful decor , you can eat inside or outside. We just arrived in country and my husbands colleague made reservation for us to meet everyone in his office. Great food, very good service. They were very nice to our children that were looking for hamburgers ( they do not have hamburgers). The server made suggestions to them and they ate all of it! They had a "sampler" for soups and deserts, what a great way to try new food. With so many people at the table everyone ordered something different and it all looked wonderful. The menu is in German, the server read it to us (a little embarrassing for us) I will have to lean German fast, she spoke very good English. What a lovely place. I will be back often!

Fantastic food from a staff passionate about what they serve. English speaking and helpful with food reminiscent of home cooked fare taken to the next level with excellent presentation. Affordable with a nice quiet atmosphere.

We went to Torschanke for our 11th Anniversary. One of my German co-workers made the reservation for us. The restaurant is decorated impeccably and updated seasonally. There are two dining areas upstairs and downstairs. Our waiter was really nice. He spoke great English and we talked about the States. The owner adds nice touches to the dining experience. We had a "shot" of cold soup...I think pumpkin and it was delicious. For dinner we had the venison stew and the mushroom ravioli. Wow, both very good! We also had an apple strudel dessert and creme brulee. Yummy!! Our waiter also served us an after dinner drink (pear Schnapps) that was complimentry. Overall, a fantastice dining experience. We'll go back for our 12th and 13th Anniversary.

Fantastic seasonal fare from a stellar cook. That, combined with the atmostphere, make for a lovely meal. Be sure to make reservations and do your best to speak German - it's greatly appreciated (although not exactly needed).

Only 20 min driving from my place, this restaurant is my favorite. The food is excellent, the portions generous and the atmosphere typical German country style. At a different place the food that is served would pass as stellar cuisine, nevertheless, the prices are moderate. The owner is very knowledgeable about wine and speaks decent English.
