We visited Restaurant Verbene shortly before Christmas with three colleagues, and the evening was truly special from start to finish.
What immediately stands out is the atmosphere: calm, elegant, and unforced. Service is attentive without ever feeling staged, which makes it easy to relax and focus entirely on the food and the experience.
The menu itself was outstanding. Each dish was beautifully presented, but more importantly, the flavors were precise and confident. Nothing felt overworked or decorative for its own sake; everything on the plate had a clear purpose. The kitchen shows a remarkable sense of balance and restraint, which is often what separates very good cuisine from exceptional cuisine.
The wine experience deserves special mention. Rather than working from a conventional wine list, the sommelier guides you through the evening with carefully chosen recommendations. Each wine came with detailed and genuinely engaging explanations: the origin, the winery, the philosophy behind it, and often the people themselves. At times, it felt less like a pairing and more like being guided through a curated exhibition; a true museum of taste. The wines did not just accompany the dishes; they expanded them.
Overall, Restaurant Verbene offers exactly what one hopes for when visiting a Michelin-starred restaurant: culinary clarity, warmth in service, and an experience that feels personal rather than programmed. An evening we will remember for a long time, and one we would gladly repeat.
