"This succulent restaurant combines a pleasantly traditional interior with authentic Japanese fare. The extensive menu stars a lineup of staples: sushi, grilled dishes and tempura, together with the house signatures of gyoza and chirashi - even the mochi are made in house. A word of warning: no bookings possible at lunchtime (more concise menu) and it fills up quickly – so come early!" - Michelin Inspector

Zen Restaurant Paris. A place where we can enjoy authentic japanese cuisine with a reasonable price in the heart of Paris. We got a set of fish bowls and a set of grilled salmon. Food was delicious and refreshing and perfect for ending the day. The dessert was surprisingly very delicious with Tofu and homemade jam. We would definitely go back again. Recommended.

One of the most disappointing Japanese meals I’ve had. We decided to dine here after seeing the Michelin sign outside, expecting at least a decent experience. Unfortunately, most of the dishes we ordered with my family were extremely salty — especially the beef and pork rice bowls, which were almost inedible. The unagi (eel) rice tasted unmistakably like it came from a frozen pack, and the fish in general had a strong, unpleasant smell — like it had been frozen for months. I’ve had far better meals at basic chains like Yoshinoya in Tokyo — their 500-yen beef bowls are far superior. Even at the same price range in New York, you can find much better Japanese food. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place.

We were looking for a restaurant In Paris late at night and found this restaurant. This was an awesome Asian Japanese restaurant. The food was excellent all items there cannot go wrong. We chose what the waitress recommended to us and she spoke excellent English and was very nice and kind and accommodating. Will try to look for this place again next time when we are in Paris.

I rarely visit the same restaurant twice in one week, but Zen was an exception — the food was that perfect. Every dish I tried was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. From start to finish, the experience was amazing. The staff knew exactly how to welcome guests with warmth and professionalism, making us feel comfortable and appreciated. The environment was calm, stylish, and well thought out — the perfect setting to enjoy a great meal. If you’re looking for a place where everything feels just right, from the food to the service to the ambiance, Zen is a must-visit. I can’t wait to go back again!

Eel is so amazing ! Everyone love it and really want to come back. The restaurant is so crowded on the day we went and they cant serve sushi since it will take too long

Google
Decent place in Paris, not the best sushi, but works if you are in the area and crave some Japanese cuisine. The fish quality was ok (nothing spectacular) and the appetizers were not great.

Google
Went there on a rainy day, sat outdoors well covered from the rain. Service was good, unfortunate that a group of 6 Germans also looking to get cover from the rain sat behind us. Needless to say they were very loud. It made the experience subpar. Food was alright, above average maybe expectations were too high because of the Michelin big gourmand awards. Ordered the unagi set for 38 euros, feels a bit pricey for mostly rice. Probably won’t go back again but definitely not bad - deserving of a 3.5/5. Still better than 90% of Japanese restaurants in Rue st Anne.

Google
The sushi plate and chirashi bowl are very delicious with high quality fish! Lunch service might be a bit slow but it’s in city centre, so no complain. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We came visiting Paris from LA, and found this restaurant at very last minute before their lunch hour closing, enjoyed the excellent quality of sushi. love it! Service is good and place is nice!

Yelp
Zen in Paris offers excellent service with efficient and multilingual staff who truly enhance the dining experience. However, the food didn't quite live up to the hype for us, with some dishes standing out more than others. The beef tataki was the highlight for me--perfectly prepared and flavorful. On the other hand, my husband found the teriyaki chicken overly sweet, and the butchering style wasn't to his preference. The nigiri and maki were fine but didn't meet my expectations, especially compared to the sushi I'm accustomed to in California. The fish slices were very thin, and a few pieces didn't taste or look quite right. While we appreciated the attentive service, the overall experience felt inconsistent with the high praise we'd heard.

Yelp
Paris Zen is a delightful culinary experience that brings the flavors of Japan to Paris. Their signature dish, Saumon Grille Teriaky, was an absolute treat. The grilled salmon was perfectly cooked and coated in a luscious teriyaki glaze that left a burst of savory and sweet on the palate. The Takoyaki was a delightful surprise, featuring tender octopus inside the crispy and savory batter balls. It was served piping hot and garnished with a tangy sauce and bonito flakes. The Grilled Eel Rice was a true indulgence, with succulent eel atop a bed of flavorful rice. The combination of flavors was heavenly, and the eel was grilled to perfection. Lastly, the Tofu was a simple yet satisfying dish. The silky tofu melted in the mouth, complemented by a light soy-based sauce and garnished with green onions. Overall, Paris Zen provides a wonderful Japanese dining experience, and I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

Yelp
I went to Zen while visiting Paris in the winter. The space was full of people enjoying lunch. This is definitely a hot spot and on the Michelin guide for places to check out that are delicious. The staff is friendly, quick and accommodating. The food was well prepared and tasted delicious. It is right near the Louvre, so a great spot to go if you are planning a museum day. I would go again!

Yelp
Zen was our favorite Japanese Restaurant in Paris. We dined at Zen twice during our recent trip to Paris. Zen offers great service & food. They offer indoor and outdoor seating for a nice casual meal. No reservations are accepted for lunch so arrive early unless you want to wait for a table. Reservations can be made for dinner. We enjoyed the Zen Lunch which includes a starter, sashimi and dish of your choice from daily selections. My husband had the Grilled salmon in teriyaki sauce as his entree. We also had EDAMAME and Gyoza Dumplings to begin. My boys enjoyed the Prawn Plate and I had the Tuna Avocado Roll. Every dish was on point. This was a great change of pace from all the French food we had enjoyed during the early days of our trip.

Yelp
Absolutely excellent sushi! Probably the freshest, premium sushi I have ever had. We stopped here on a hunch and after reading good reviews during a hectic day of July sightseeing; we were not disappointed! The restaurant is a short walk from the Louvre. Of note, I had the premium sushi platter with a miso soup starter - I could not have been more pleased. The servers were kind, patient and prompt despite a full restaurant. If you are near the Louvre in Paris I strongly recommend a visit to Zen!

Yelp
Some really delicious food here and great variety. Highlights include their grilled eggplant/aubergine which is probably the best I've had in Paris. Also, the takoyaki, the omelette a l'anguille (eel) and the octopus.

Yelp
Fresh fish, extensive saki menu, friendly environment. Good service but ordered a salmon roll with cucumbers and avocado & received three individual sushi rolls - ha! The tuna nigiri was great but the best part of the meal was the dim sum appetizer.

Yelp
My mother comes here for lunch so she wanted to check out what Zen offers for dinner. We made a reservation for 7:30 on Thursday night. First impressions: modern, chic decor. You can sit at a regular table, by the sushi bar or on a high chair facing the street. The menu has a good selection of items. I ordered the Tenju Set (various tempura over a bed of rice). For dessert, I had the tofu cheesecake, which came with Zen's homemade jam (refer to photo). Both my main and dessert were great choices!! Yay, I'm a fan. HOWEVER, I recommend that you go for lunch only. Menu items are very similar, but prices double for dinner when you're getting the same thing a mere six hours earlier.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. The chef's choices were delicious, especially the tuna avocado with egg yoke. The yellowtail, sea bass, and sushi was fresh and the sake we had was a nice pairing. Our last dish was the half cooked beef on the bottom of the chef's menu (attached). Topped it off with black sesame and vanilla ice cream to end the night right. If you want a really good Japanese experience check this place out. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and everything was pretty good. We had the yellowtail sashimi special, vegetable tempura, and a few rolls. After the meal they gave us a small glass of sweet ginger tea which was delicious.

Yelp
Food was not bad. Service was great. Speed of food delivery was a bit slow. Una ju was just mediocre but the grilled salmon was pretty good.

Yelp
The sushi and miso were simple, yet in a good way. The taste was subtle and well balanced.

Yelp
Recommended by a Japanese friend for ramen. FOOD: 3.0. I had the Chashu Ramen and gyouza. The gyouza was ok, but a bit too crispy--almost burned--on one side. Chaschu Ramen was good quantity with nice pork and fresh veggies. Was a bit surprised by the high quantity of sesame seeds--I don't recall every having ramen with that much sesame that during all my years in Japan. Kirin beer was mighty fine. SERVICE: 4.0. AMBIANCE: 3.0.

Yelp
Tasty, homey wonderful food lovingly prepared using high quality ingredients... Probably the best donburi anywhere.. Modern slick decor, a rear terrace and seating outside along the boulevard... just a stone's throw from the madding crowds of the Louvre. So relax and enjoy the attentive, friendly service in this delicious restaurant which is good value and a real find! Try the donburi, the udon or soba.. terrific sushi or any specials... great desserts as well as excellent green tea!

Yelp
Friendly, reasonably priced Japanese restaurant in the heart of Paris. Good lunch specials for less than 15€. My favorite curry rice in town.

Marie S.

Yelp
Great meal. The sashimi was super fresh. The staff was friendly and accommodating (the gentlemen manager was awesome). Great value (5 or 6 different small plates/ approximately 100 euros). I would highly recommend the seared beef dish and the tuna avocado tar tar. The fried pork was also quite yummy. Room for improvement: the only dish that was a poor value was the scallop dish - delicious BUT there were only 2 small scallops cut in half.
google avatar

Tara S.

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal here about a month ago. We tried several of the small plates. The scallop dish and seared beef were my favorites. The customer service was great. Excellent value for high quality food.

Yelp
i am a sushi afficionado, and i must say that i enjoyed and loved Zen. the food selection is great. My friends selected the menus which were a palate's deligt. i strongly recommend it.

Yelp
I was really craving rice while visiting Paris so we stumbled upon this area with many Japanese restaurants. We chose this restaurant because it looked very nice from the outside. I had the chicken teriyaki but I felt that the rice was too saucy and overall very greasy. The miso soup it came with was piping hot and perfect for the cold weather.

Yelp
My favorite part of my trip to Paris was the food... Japanese food. I spent a weekend with two Parisian friends; they took me here saying it is one of their favorite places. I got my craving fixed here, with a bowl of katsudon and gyoza. It's was amazing. The gyoza was juicy, crispy, and had lots of flavor. The egg in my katsudon was cooked just right, not too much and not too globby. The full Japanese staff was very polite and attentive. We sat at a wavey bar facing the street, perfect for people watching. Their decorated interior has accents of green, very Zen. Back in Italy, I really miss Paris because of Zen.

Yelp
Why five stars? Because stepping off the plane from the States at 10am, famished, believing it's not the last AM hours, but the first, you are inclined to star heavily for a good find. After turning down several spots that looked less than appealing, we caved and asked the concierge for a recommendation. Sent here, we could not have been happier. Perhaps the freshest uni I've had, over live, which seems questionable (re: famished), but accurate. Halibut and snapper was quality, squid was superb. I hear the crevette (shrimp) dish is not to be missed: addictive creamy sauce, fresh, etc. Pleasant service, decent amount of english. Downstairs seating you'll likely miss unless you know of it. Good crowd but no wait early on an early Friday evening.

Yelp
Pretty good for the price you get for the lunch. 12 for ramen + gyoza set Or go for the daily Bento on the weekend :22 euro.

Yelp
Ive had the pleasure of enjoying some of the most delicious Japanese meals and this is certainly one of them. I highly recommend the tasting menus they have to offer! We both had the Fuji. Quite delicious!! If you known your sashimi, this place will please your palette. Service and waitstaff were quite prompt and sweet and explained everything very well in english.

Ryan P.

Yelp
I would give this place negative if possible. Went with wife and a 6 year old. Probably the worst service we've received in Paris.
google avatar

Tranquila N.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place when we were walking to the Louvre. Prices were fair, sushi was really FRESH, Service was fast and the staff was great most of them spoke English or tried. Eat here!!
google avatar

Yelp
Was craving ramen while in Paris, had their Shoyu ramen deal at lunch time, it was alright, didn't leave a lasting impression on me. Service was good, thus the three star.

Yelp
Real Japanese restaurant ! The food and the service are perfect. They also have quite good Japanese desserts !

Yelp
Very good Japanese restaurant. Great udon. We keep going back every time we are in Paris.

Yelp
This is by far one of the best Japanese restaurants. I've been going here for years and I would recommend to anyone looking for something other then just sushi bars. If you're in Paris and you're looking for something a little different here is the place. Two things, lunch time is always going to be a little packed. Given the many businesses around and the fact that it's in the Japanese area. However, lunch time is a little cheaper than the evenings. They have a good lunch time menu and the serve is warm and promote. In the evening the menu changes a little, the is a wider selection but the prices go up. However I think that the money you spend in Zen is well worth it. The setting and atmosphere is really nice, white and light green adding to that zen feeling. The staff are very friendly, and although some times limited in other languages I believes this adds to its charm.

S B.

Yelp
Good but overpriced for evening. Lunch is a better value. Service is not always great either, especially from the older Japanese lady with the glasses. Also it took I think 30 minutes one time to receive a california roll. A waitress also made a negative comment about my shirt there before which I found strange and inappropriate. I go semi-regularly, but only because they are open for lunch on Sundays. They have a really strict rule about that as well, I think you can only make reservations for 12-12:30 but it only opens at 12. Portions are small, I always end up spending so much for just okay food.
