"The long-established Zur Rose is a gourmet restaurant that has certainly made its mark along the romantic Tyrolean Wine Route. Here, chef Herbert Hintner serves his own version of creative contemporary cuisine which has a strong regional identity influenced by the Alto Adige, in an elegant building dating back to 1300 – the restaurant has been known as “La Rosa” since 1585. Ingredients and dishes change in line with the seasons, with two menus each season, one regional, the other vegetarian. Riding the crest of a wave for decades, Hintner’s cuisine never falters – especially now that his son has joined him in the kitchen. Not what I was expecting from a Michelin star restaurant. Food was good, but some of the dishes I could easily make at home. The veal tartare was very sad. Old cutlery. The waitress almost dropped butter on me while cleaning up. It didn't leave me with the wow effect and I don't think I will go back.

From the moment we walked up to the entrance, we were impressed. From the way we were greeted, to the ambiance and table settings. The service was wonderful, the food was excellent, and we even got to meet the chef! Every course was presented impeccably, and was absolutely delicious, from the homemade bread, to the complimentary amuse bouche, to the starters and mains. All with wonderful touches of interesting and complimentary flavors. BRAVO!

Unmissable experience. Undoubtedly a great surprise. The elaborate work behind each dish (plus exquisite presentation) and the 20+ ingredients just for one dessert that was somehow perfectly balanced it’s still a topic of conversation for us. This will stay on our top Michelin restaurants and definitely will visit during our next Südtirol trip. Nice staff and attentive chef.
