"Oysters, scallops, razor clams, cockles, prawns, shrimp, and an array of white and oily fish take centre-stage in this small, welcoming restaurant with a maritime decor in which the sea is the undisputed star of the show. The aim of Lara Roguez, who everyone knows as the “chef of the Cantabrian Sea”, is to give her dishes an added twist (e.g. in the choice of sides), including influences from other food cultures, without detracting from their individual flavour. The unusual “logbook-style” à la carte, which includes added information that enables guests to identify the traceability of every ingredient, is complemented by three Omakase-style tasting menus: “Marea Baja“ (Low Tide), “Marea Viva“ (Spring Tide) and “Marea Alta” (High Tide). We were particularly impressed by her array of “gilda”-style tapas, prepared with prawns, cured sea bass, smoked eel, blue lobster etc, all of which were equally delicious." - Michelin Inspector

Very thoughtful with the food from concept, to preparation, to presentation and taste. The sustainability and freshness of the food were also top tier. It is an experience not a meal. The food is delicate and delicious that impacts all 5 senses. The staff is SUPER friendly, knowledgeable and care about the experience and food. They take pride in their work. We walked in and ordered dishes off the menu - did not do the set menu. Also - the gluten-free bread was excellent! We look forward to returning!!

My wife and I went to Abarike for our anniversary and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The food was delicious, the service was great and it had just the right ambiance for a romantic dinner. We started with bread and a delicious herb butter and complimentary dish of anchovy and raw fish (I forgot what kind) that was very good. I had Yellow Chili Ceviche Oysters that were so fresh and tasty. Next we had Blue Lobster lettuce wraps and Scallops, both were very delicious, very fresh and like everything made with a fusion of incredible flavors and attention to detail. My entree was Spider Crab Chile Stew, very unique dish, very very delicious and my wife had one of their featured fish on the menu and she thoroughly loved it. Everything looked like a piece of art and I almost didn't want to eat any of the dishes because of this. Presentation was great! The staff made excellent recommendations for wine pairings for our food. Abarike is good for diners with Gluten Intolerance which is always important for my celiac wife. Because I couldn't tell if they had GF dessert on their menu I wrote the restaurant in advance and asked them to please have a GF dessert for my wife that's not sorbet, ice cream or gelato and they assured me they would have somethin special for both of us and it was an incredible cheese cake and they had a Spanish Brandy in the house I had never had before that was the perfect compliment to the dessert, Solera Gran Reserva, Barrel Select, Brandy Peinado, aged 12 years. Thank you to the chef and staff for being a part of our anniversary and giving us a truly amazing dinner and anniversary experience.

I got very surprised it! …The restaurant it’s recommended as Michelin top restaurant’s in Gijon. I founded it too expensive and contrary of my expectations the food looks like a sample with no decorations no creation on the presentation also not impressed it about the taste We didn’t see a masterful cooking techniques among my friends sharing the night. Our experience was a dissapointment .

Small and cosy restaurant. Be sure you will be treated very well. The staff is kind and considerate. Food is amazing. We got a complimentary small starter. Be sure to order the Gilda!!! It's an explosion of flavours. Monkfish was also very good. Shame I had to share it with my boyfriend because I brag about it 😅

Not a great experience, we arrived shortly after 2pm and asked for the set menu, only to be told, rather rudely that menu finishes at 2pm. So we ordered a la carte, starter, las guildas were interesting but it went down hill from there. The scallops were just grilled, and we paid 60€ ( plus vat) for 6. The crab was ok, but when the waiter told us that the apple desert was made in house I lost all faith in him. The apple in a croissant pasty, apple strudel was very good, but obviously came from a nearby patisserie. We were also charged VAT on the bill, I didn’t question it in the restaurant as when I asked for the menu at the beginning I was told that it clearly states on the website that menu is only available until 2pm, so I paid it. When I got back to my hotel room I checked the website site, and the menu states that VAT is included. We choose the restaurant as it was recommended by the Michelin guide, but 158€ I wasn’t impressed. We speak fluent Spanish so it wasn’t a misunderstanding due to language.
