"In an excellent location next to the Retiro park, Alabaster is home to a gastro-bar with high tables for an informal supper, an impressive glass-fronted wine cellar, and a spacious dining room complemented by two private spaces. Here, the emphasis is on updated seasonal and traditional cuisine, with the à la carte divided into two parts (Comparte and Disfruta). There’s also a tasting menu option named after the restaurant. Dishes include grilled scallops with a bone marrow emulsion and breadcrumbs; Galician stew ravioli with an “ajada” sauce and fried cabbage; and hake with a lemon pil-pil sauce and spinach." - Michelin Inspector

Google
Food was good not amazing was expecting better quality presentation and taste So disappointed The monk fish was mediocre for this type of restaurant. The ray was better. The service was excellent attentive and professional at all times. The food could be better and not worth the price tag unfortunately

I’ve always avoided restaurants that focus more on technique than on the product itself, and Alabaster is one of them. Elegant place with good service, but the food feels flat. Neither the tomato, the “berberechos”, nor the meat stood out. Well executed, sure, but far from exciting. The wine list is classic and rather dull, with only a couple of Champagnes worth noting.

Dining at Alabaster is a definite treat. The food from the appetizer to the dessert is top notch. I had the razor clams followed by the hake and both dishes were fantastic. Especially the hake (merluza)--it was absolutely divine. For dessert I enjoyed the Baba cake--it was a perfect portion for a dessert. The people at the restaurant are very professional and helpful. I strongly recommend this restaurant--it is a really wonderful place!

Ordered the tasting menu and had pleasant and knowledgable servers (they can speak English). It is truly an excellent meal when dessert is my least favorite course (even with cold broccoli served with the beef). Each course was different from the last and was just the right amount of food to leave not hungry and feeling fine. Would definitely return.

This was arguably the best culinary experience I have ever had in my life. Honestly the best food I've ever eaten at a restaurant. The wide variety of flavors with the perfect balance was absolutely outstanding!

Great restaurant in private atmosphere! Service, food and drinks are outstanding. We had wonderful time with our partners. Please come here for stylish food accompanied with outstanding wine selection.

What an extraordinarily sophisticated and posh dining experience! I arrived there (solo) out of curiosity after searching for nearby Gourmet restaurants on Google Maps. It was a rainy day, and I had been out walking.... I wasn't expecting availability w/o having reservations, but they happily accommodated me. Admittedly, I wish I had arrived better dressed; I felt a little too casual, but I was not made to feel uncomfortable by any means. Being solo... Graciously, the maitre d even went to the extent of asking if I was comfortable at the table I had been sat at: (around small, quiet, intimate family diners). Starting off, I had an excellent, perfectly balanced Manhattan. Next came an amuse bouche & complementary marinated green olives and a nice rustic house bread. Having seen other positive reviews & wanting to try as many tastes as possible, I chose the tasting menu. It turned out to be definitely well-defined perfection. Every course was executed with character and subtleness matching the ingredients and choice of assembly. Each course was satisfyingly built upon the next with no serving being so rich or powerful that it left me feeling overwhelmed or unprepared for the following dish. I didn't choose the wine pairing, but I asked the sommelier instead to choose a nice dry white wine that would compliment the complete tasting menu. Excellent job!!! I felt happy and indulged at the end.

Google
We got the tasting menu, and it was delicious! They made sure everything we got was dairy free, and the dessert was phenomenal. The staff were all very friendly and happy to explain each course. We couldn’t finish the wine pairings because the pours were so generous 😅

Yelp
Our evening at Alabaster in Madrid, spurred by a friend's glowing recommendation, turned into a delightful culinary adventure. We opted for the tasting menu, where each dish came with its own story--some told beautifully through artful plating, while others left a bit to the imagination. But here's the twist: what some dishes lacked in presentation, they more than made up for in flavor. Each bite was a revelation, with rich, layered tastes that danced on the palate. The unexpected contrast between the visual and the taste made the experience all the more intriguing. Alabaster is the kind of place that reminds you--sometimes it's what's inside that truly counts. I'm glad we took the leap and explored this hidden gem, where flavor reigns supreme. Definitely worth a visit for those who appreciate substance over style!

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Madrid. Every plate arrived on our table with stunning creativity and flavor. I cannot recommend this with more enthusiasm as it was one of the best meals anywhere in Europe.

Yelp
We went in with a group of 20 and the food and service were outstanding. We had a a great 7 course meal that was pre-arranged and it was excellent. This place has an extensive wine menu so dig deep. We drank a wine from '95 and '89 and they were well aged and served at peak ages. Explore the wine and unique menu. The table bread was truly artisan which was difficult not to devour.

Yelp
We had lots of great food in Spain over 2 weeks - but Alabaster was far and away the best. Razor clams, scallops, squid were all awesome. Sea bass and hake were perfectly cooked. Squab and steak tartare also really good. Strawberry dessert was amazing. Wait staff was also terrific. Alabaster is comparable to a Michelin 1-star restaurant in San Francisco.

Yelp
My first day in Madrid. This restaurant was recommended by my hotel concierge (Westin). What a wonderful choice. I allowed the head waiter to put together our menu and it was fantastic! Everything was so good!

Yelp
A swish lunch stop, much larger than the outside betrays but still worth booking ahead at peak time. We were hideously early for a Spanish lunchtime so probably didn't need to book our table, but also quite tight on time so it was actually useful to have plenty of serving staff attention. The setting will impress - monochrome decor with a wine cellar on display that I'd quite like to set into my kitchen wall at home. The food will impress too, being particularly artfully presented on the plate. We got several dishes to share, I think my favourite being the crayfish in Japanese breadcrumb. I'd recommend it for a business lunch where it ticks all the boxes, but it was a bit too swanky and lacking in warmth for me to want to go with friends.

Yelp
It was Monday 1:30 PM. I came to eat lunch with my 2 babies(4 year old and 10 months old baby on stroller) . the restaurant was 90% empty and couple of people at the bar. When I tried to go in and waiter came said to me, "No table. we all booked." I asked there are many tables available I can see." They rejected us even though they are many tables available. I felt we were rejected because I was carrying 2 babies with me. What a terrible experience and such a bad attitude.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant in a great area of Madrid. The food and service were excellent as was the selction. It is a dining restaurant not an in and out. The calm dish in green sauce was wonderful and the menu and wine list have a slant towards Galician food from the NW part of Spain. Most of the staff spoke some english and the sommelier spoke good english and gave great recommendations on the wine. I had a varietal called Godello, a grape grown in Galicia. Having someone point out there selections in wines helped. Very few tourists, mostly local crowd, reservations are a most. Plan on going back before I leave.
