Our evening at Restaurant Albalá was marked by satisfactory customer service and an intriguing fusion take on Andalusian cuisine. This upscale establishment seemed to be a favorite among both locals and tourists looking for a special dining experience. However, while we had some expectations, not every dish met the mark.
To start, we ordered the sea bass carpaccio with seaweed, a dish that wowed with its colorful presentation but left us disappointed in terms of taste, earning a modest 3/10. The lobster lasagna, a deconstructed take on the classic, fared better and was the highlight of the meal, though it arrived with more liquid than expected, and slightly cold, earning a respectable 7/10.
We then ventured into the grilled octopus with mushroom and red wine reduction sauce, which, while tasty and featuring tender octopus, lacked a certain depth of flavor, earning a 6/10. Dessert, featuring the recommended flan and a cheesecake with blue cheese, left us with mixed feelings. The flan didn't quite hit the creamy texture we had hoped for, and the blue cheese in the cheesecake was a bold but somewhat polarizing choice. Overall, our dining experience at Restaurant Albalá warrants a 5/10 rating.
