"The luxury Gran Meliá Sancti Petri hotel’s gourmet restaurant boasts a bright, elegant and minimalist design – the only thing adorning the walls of the dining room are the silhouettes of shoals of fish and curtains made from traditional hemp rope. Such is the maritime influence that you can almost taste and smell the salty sea air! Given that this is the offshoot of the extraordinary Aponiente restaurant in El Puerto de Santa María, guests can savour (via the Planeta Agua menu, with its two options that differ in their number of courses) many of the dishes that have led to acclaimed chef’s Ángel León’s worldwide reputation as “El Chef del Mar”. The experience begins with enticing appetisers (accompanied by wine from Chiclana) in the bar at the entrance and continues in the dining room, where the best maritime fish and seafood (sea urchins, shrimp, mackerel, dogfish etc) take centre stage. The seaweed tarte tatin, a dessert with an intense green colour (due to plankton) that comes with a croissant ice-cream took us completely by surprise!" - Michelin Inspector

Situated inside Gran Meliá Sancti Petri Hotel in the province of Cadiz, this is the sister restaurant of Aponiente and overseen by Angel Leon. It holds 1 Michelin star as of 2024. Offers the possibility to taste some of the classic dishes from Aponiente but in a more genuine atmosphere and personalized service. The focus remains on unique produce and combinations from the sea, beautifully arranged. The decor of the dining area is minimalist, luminous and elegant.

Did large tasting menu with wine pairing. Some of the dishes were outstanding, most very good with only a couple we did not enjoy as much. Quality ingredients. Wines were just ok but we had a great time

Innovative for sure! You have to like fish and sea products…wow for some , hmm for others. Had dinner there with my husband. The menu blew my husband’s mind. He found that the food was outstanding. For me to be quiet honest was just food presented pretty , lacking some type of amazing flavor. Some of the dishes were good, some were just average. Service was amazing.presentation of every dish and wine was like being in a theater play. Restaurant feel is empty and lack originality. It felt like a meeting room. The Melia hotel is such a beautiful property, the restaurant did not carry the nice warm feel. Overall was ok, but for +200 euros per person , I was hoping for more, also was hoping for a more substantial meal, I was hungry when I left the restaurant. *Visited this restaurant last fall

Innovative kitchen with a great deal of variety in the presentation of the food. Unfortunately every dish tastes more or less the same and I was waiting in vain for the 'wow' moment. Wine list and service, on the other hand, is brilliant 💎 I personally adore fish, when they are prepared using ingredients and cooking methods that compliments the original taste. At approximately €180 for food alone, quite a disappointment.

Honestly, only enjoyed a couple of the courses. Service was poor. No water offered until the 6th course and only after asking. I enjoy a seafood course as much as the next person but the meal was very one dimensional and I was dying for some variation by the end. Wouldn’t recommend.
