El Tranvía - Santa Cecilia

"If you’re taken by the idea of a stroll through Montevideo without actually leaving São Paulo then enjoy a "parrillada" in this authentic restaurant: it will give you a definite sense of being in the middle of the old quarter, with a setting that recreates the houses and patios found in the centre of the Uruguayan capital. From the kitchen come highly memorable dishes ranging from soufflé potatoes to grilled meats (you’ll soon understand why the Uruguayans are the world’s biggest consumers of beef per capita! ), chitterlings (chinchulines) and typical homemade desserts such as the traditional Uruguayan cake known as Massini." - Michelin Inspector

Excellent Uruguayan steak restaurant. I recommend prime rib. It is good taste and soft. Their atmosphere and staffs are also excellent. My son who is 7 years old likes their staffs a lot.

For meat lovers. Lamb picanha was very good. Good wine offer. New site is beautiful.

Great steaks, service and extensive wine list. A bit too hot inside. However what put me off giving this place 5 stars are the upcharges: - Service fee: 10%. alright, maybe it goes to the waiters (who were great), probably not. Didn’t ask. Didnt want to disappoint myself further. Not a usual charge in Brazilian restaurants. If it indeed goes to the staff, offer an optional tip filed. Guarantee it will do better. I’d have left 20%. -bread fee. $10 USD. I mean…. What. When waiter brought the bread he was very subtle about it. Meaning like showing it to us and waiting for response if we want it or not. Good service. The bad, however, is that he didn’t tell us that there is a charge for it. Overall I’d rate this restaurant at 3 stars with food getting 5, service 5 and management 2. I understand every $ counts in a short run, but in a long run it ruins you. Visit my restaurant in New York. It’s called Novita! Impeccable food and service!

Delicious traditional meat restaurant, no frills apps and sides.

Google
It's located in a wandering one story building that's apparently on the blocks for demolition so no real sign of upkeep. No windows too which makes the experience claustrophobic. Food was excellent

I know this place since it was a small wagon-like restaurant. now it’s a multi room restaurant with a charming & cozy atmosphere where they serve uruguayan style grilled meats & tripes. the sweetbreads are incredible as all the achuras, cinchulines & morcillas. the meat itself, pure perfection. they have uruguayan beer that is really great. do not ask for pork: not their specialty. as a sweet treat ask for an almendrado, an apple crèpe or a chajá, a very uruguayan dessert. I leave to you to discover what it is... they accept reservation, they do have linen table cloths, great cutlery for meat and the staff is simply marvelous. the maitre, paolo, is an asset to this charming restaurant. perfect!

Good meat options but way too expensive. If you're into BBQ and grilling, you'd better go to a good Brazilian "churrascaria" (Brazilian barbecue restaurant). Your wallet will thank you, no kidding.

Very tradicional Uruguayan restaurant in the city. Very beautiful place, the beff is one of the best I ate in São Paulo, but the prices are very salty. If you are a beef fan it is worthwhile to visit.
