Hate food? Go there. Love service? Go there. Good was, the place, the wine, service was absolutely friendly, guy spoke excellent english. Not too crowded, not too loud. Once again, nice calm view over lake. Lovely atmosphere as well. Butttt... food succckkked. All was dry, pointless, weird. Only after adding 10 kilos of mayonnaise it became tolerable.

Hugely disappointing. The setting is wonderful, but the menu (QR code only) was confusing, the food acceptable but no more, and the service was both slow and arrogant. I visited this place twice to make sure that I hadn't been 'unlucky' the first terrible time. I hadn't. It was just as bad the second time round. Three-quarters of an hour to wait for some fried pork? Maybe somewhere else next time...

We booked initially for a night as we are travelling through France and Spain to Portugal. We are nearly at the end of a month's road trip and found this place a delight. So much so we elected to extend to two nights.||||I would describe the accommodation as a restaurant with rooms. However the rooms are, in our opinion, beautifully authentic, spacious and with good amenities. Although not much English is spoken here the welcome is warm from all the staff and we felt well looked after during our stay.||||Arcos de la Frontera is a pretty hill top village and this accommodation is just outside. It is a fair walk into town and not really practicable for evening jaunts. This is not necessary however as the restaurant is fabulous. We had two very good quality meals including dishes such as octopus, turbot, carpaccio of prawn and roast suckling pig. Prices are reasonable and the wine is good. The restaurant has a great ambience and was full on both nights (Friday and Saturday).||||Breakfast is simple but after last night's dinner this is just fine. WIFI is not readily available in the rooms and only the restaurant has a good signal.||||It may not be everyone's choice for accommodation as the restaurant is indeed the main event. We however would recommend.

We chose this accommodation for its location and looking for an authentic Spanish place. We loved the cleanliness, the decor, the interior court, the spectacular view of the village and the fact that there was a restaurant and a pool. What we did not like was the cold attitude of the owners and staff. I understand there was a language barrier, but there are other ways to show hospitality. My feeling was that they did not like foreigners. One of the owners said out loud "Shut up!" when my husband was talking to a waiter who actually spoke English, not sure whom he wanted silent, but I found that unimaginably rude. The room was nicely decorated, very clean, with plenty of towels. The bed was, however a little bit small for a double bed. The food at the restaurant was average, I found it a little pricy for the portion sizes offered. At check out in the morning they did not seem ready for breakfast, though it was after 9 AM, but cooked some food for us - again kinda pricy. Overall, my feeling is that La Posada del Duende is a lovely place to come for lunch or dinner if you are Spanish. They still need to work on their attitude towards people that don't speak their language.

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel. I stayed here for 3 nights to attend a wedding. It’s in a quiet location with a village atmosphere. It’s very rustic and not at all touristy. Some of the staff at the hotel’s English is limited, as is my Spanish, so we had fun communicating at breakfast with photos and google translate, especially as I’m vegetarian! But the staff were really lovely and helpful. The pool area at the hotel is quite small (about 8 sun-loungers around the pool) but absolutely fine for an afternoon relax. You’re only a 5 minute taxi journey into the town of Arcos (cost us 10 euros each way for this journey) which is well worth the trip for the views and places to eat/tourist shops. The food at the hotel is very good - on the last night of our trip, our friends who were staying in a hotel just up the road came and joined us and said it was the best food they’d eaten on the whole trip!

Very clean, nice place. Lovely view of Arcos. We bought a Groupon deal which included breakfast and one dinner. The dinner was quite plain. We did not have any other meals in the hotel apart from breakfast, so rather difficult to comment on the food although we have noticed that the menu was quite pricey. We had some drinks in the evening though, and were rather surprised that no one asked as what we wanted so we got the drinks from the bar, when we finished again we were not asked if we want another. ||The lady who served the breakfast however, I believe called Lola, was very attentive. The breakfast was fine but anything extra, like second coffee, had to be paid for.||I would also like to say that the place was difficult to find. Maybe would be useful to add coordinates to the address. The satnav did not recognise the address given.
