As an international traveller to Manaus from the UK the food at Restaurante Banzeiro Manaus was sensational. The culinary experience is a must try for any visitor. Exceptional service, warm atmosphere and helpful, attentive staff. I highly recommend you book and you won’t be disappointed

Banzeiro is considered one of Manaus’ premier restaurants. Unfortunately, my experience there fell far short of expectations. While the setting and reputation promised something exciting and refined filled with the region’s culinary richness, the flavours themselves felt surprisingly bland. Dishes that should have celebrated the bold, earthy, and vibrant palette of the Amazon - smoky tambaqui, tangy tucupi, or fragrant jambu arrived instead lacking any depth and balance. We experienced similar dishes at lesser known restaurants in Manaus with much more flavour at a much less price. The food overall was ok but nothing outstanding. Service, too, detracted from the experience. Before we had even finished our meal, a waiter interrupted with an iPad, insisting we leave a Google review on the spot while he waited beside the table. The gesture felt awkward and intrusive. I politely declined. It shed light on the restaurant’s unusually glowing online reputation, one that, in hindsight, seems more manufactured than earned. Would I recommend this place, unfortunately no. There are many restaurants in Manaus that do far better.

Good place for a business lunch. The service is top-notch, and it’s convenient that they have English-speaking staff. However, the food is a bit underwhelming compared to what the high Google ratings led me to expect.

Great food with delicious local specialities. We even managed to try ants. My partner was referred to go there and we were not dissapointed. Service was great with no delays and proper manerism. Would recommend.

Very good local food, and great cocktails too. Both food and drinks are very inspired with local ingredients and typical Amazon flavors. The staff is very nice. The Shrimp Bao starter was simply amazing. Desserts were also quite nice.

Recommended by a Brazilian colleague, fantastic cuisine. Arrived at 1900, full and bustling at 2015. Great value, flavor, and ambiance. Highly recommend for local Amazon River Fish. English menu, Entrees created to serve two.

A Manaus institution, still going strong after all the years and a lot of (deserved) hype. One of the places that known how to cater equally well to foreigners and locals, to tourists and business people. Tasteful food and ambience. Friendly service and fair prices.

Excellent food and service in a cozy inviting atmosphere. Only disappointment was that we ordered the leaf cutter ant twice and we never received it.

This is a 'must' place to eat if one is in Manaus. The chef has enduring power simply because his cuisine is so incredible. He starts with amazingly fresh and local ingredients and add flavors and preparations one can only dream of. Not to be missed are the Tambaqui 'chops', the local Tacaca soup, and truthfully anything else you calls your tastebuds... it's Amazonian cuisine at its best.

Everyone I spoke with around Manaus seems to agree that if you want to try the best in fresh fish caught in the Amazon Banzeiro is the place to go. It's also one of the few Yelp listed and with some 14 reviews, most in English, and with a Four Stars rating. Indeed, its focus is local, so you get the best in local flavor and cuisine. Though the wait staff isn't very good in English, they put in extra effort to please and assist, so it works. I had a grilled Tambaqui fish, and though I haven't a clue I was told it was there best fish as it is primarily vegetarian. Mine came in a beautiful presentation and was totally without even a hint of a fishy taste.

We had an amazing meal in Manaus! We totally recommend this place. Food was really good! We had the aunts, the typical soup and the fish with banana and cheese! Awesome. The cocktails are spectacular as well!

Horrible horrible service That being said... It's the World Cup and a million Americans are here... And I'm the only black one ... But my entire table received a menu... I never did. Two people got drinks... I am literally waiting for my caipirinha one hour in.... My food ... Lord knows when it will come. This is bs... Completely and utterly disappointed with this experience. I have 3 more days here and I vow I will never coming back. Ever. I discourage you all from coming here -John

Great staff and food. We ordered the Amazon Fish with coalho cheese, rice and potato - very good. The salad with fried fish is also amazing.

This is an elegant restaurant, which we loved. The fried tambaqi appetizer was really great - all my kids loved it. And the fresh juice drinks are a must, especially the guava. We also tried the tambaqi with capers and mushrooms, the pescada in a kind of butter sauce, and the arapaina in another style - all 3 were equally delicious, as we're the side dishes. The brownie and chocolate cake were both served with coconut tapioca ice cream, which I loved. We ordered a lot of appetizers, entrees, and dessert, and finished every bit. So delicious.

Amazing place. Went with my dad and friends during World Cup. Drinks and food were great. If you want to try amazon river fish. Get it here!!! 5 stars! Service was also amazing.

This place consists mostly of fish dishes for two. The default order is a portion for two. The food was not fantastic but it was better than anything else in Manaus. The older waiters are as good as any in Brazil (although not so good with English), the younger waiters have room for improvement. The drinks were solid. My favorite thing about this restaurant was the focus on local cuisine... Ingredients such as Amazon river fish and fruit like cupuacu made the a good experience.

A fine dine restaurant for Amazon Cuisine. Good starters. Really enjoyed the fish soup served as an appetizer. Tried several main dishes like the Uarini Coated Pirarucu and the Tambaqui Banda which is literally a fish cut in half and grilled on charcoal. A very traditional Manaus' dish. Delicious. A must go in Manaus.

This place is amazing. It's very reasonably priced for the quality. The drinks are fantastic. The manager came over multiple times to make sure we were ok. The portions for our fish-for-two dinner were huge. Arguably the best meal we've had since we got to Brazil. And they were very slammed due to World Cup but still managed to deliver. Get the caipirinhas!!! You will not regret it. They are not the garbage you get on the beach in Rio and they don't cost much more!
