"Make sure you don’t miss this luxurious, oriental-inspired eatery which raises the traditional impression of Chinese restaurants to another level thanks to its cuisine and standard of service. In the kitchen, chef Felipe Bao’s aim is to endow his dishes with the philosophy and exquisite nature of imperial Chinese cooking, which is built around solid Cantonese recipes. An excellent option for a romantic meal for two." - Michelin Inspector

The restaurant offers a romantic, colourful, and quiet atmosphere that sets the stage for what could have been a lovely dining experience. The décor and ambiance clearly aim for a modern take on traditional Chinese elegance, and in that regard, it succeeds. However, the service left a lot to be desired. From the moment we arrived, the greeting was unwelcoming. The waitstaff seemed disengaged, as if they didn’t want to be there or worse, didn’t want us to be there. We were ignored for long periods and made to feel like an inconvenience rather than guests. The table we were seated at was wobbly, adding to our discomfort. The overall tone among the staff was one of disinterest and even rudeness. When we raised our concerns with the manager, there was no apology or effort to make amends. It was clear that guest feedback was not valued. On a brighter note, the food was largely excellent. A complimentary chicken flavoured soup started things off nicely especially after adding a few spices. The dim sum dishes were strong, the prawn and ginger was good, while the crispy lobster and mango wrapped in cannelloni was absolutely stunning. The Wagyu beef in puff pastry was rich and flavourful, particularly with a touch of soy sauce. The black sesame prawns were delicious, but the white sesame version tasted a bit too eggy and lacked crispiness. All in all, it’s a place that delivers on culinary creativity and ambiance, but the poor service experience severely undermines the visit. If management can address the staffing issues, it has potential to be exceptional, until then, come for the food, but temper your expectations.

This really nice restaurant makes eating feel fancy in a good way. The food is seriously amazing, and they pay attention to every little thing, which is cool. We tried the tasting menu and loved every single dish. It's got a comfy and chill vibe, perfect for really enjoying all the yummy flavors. We've been to all their other places, and Bao Li is definitely their best one yet. If you want awesome Cantonese food in a special kind of place, you gotta check this out. Congrats on doing such a great job!

Bao Li is a high-end Chinese restaurant in Madrid that blends classical Cantonese flavors with elegant presentation and ambiance. The dim sum and Wagyu dishes are standouts, while the flan isn’t their strongest point — the kumquat dessert, however, is fabulous. The menu channels Cantonese tradition with modern touches, all served against impeccable décor and attentive service. Perfect for a romantic dinner, a celebration, or simply when you’re craving Chinese cuisine with a touch of glamour, Bao Li is a solid pick.

An excellent restaurant, beautiful decor and all the food served was of high quality. The service was mostly fine but there were few things we had to ask for several times and there wasn't enough eye contact. The dim sum we tasted was one of the best I've had the to eat, but I must note that the Peking duck dish was not up to the standard of the other dishes. It was good, but you can expect a higher quality from a restaurant like this in a flagship dish of Cantonese cuisine.

What a wonderful romantic experience. We absolutely enjoyed it. The service was exceptional and the food was even more exceptional. After seeing the photos of the glass noodles I was obsessed in trying them but I expected more taste. But still delicious. I would highly recommend to try all their dim sums and the chicken with duck.

Magnificent restaurant on par with the best dim sum I have ever had in Hong Kong. Highlights included the lobster, snow crab, and truffle/boletus dumplings, and the traditional XLB that just blew me away, as did the mains. Knowledgeable and attentive service, and a beautiful space. A rare find.

Chose this restaurant for a special New Year's Eve dinner. Great location and beautiful decor, plus excellent service! However, the disappointment was in the dishes. Having eaten Buddha Jumps Over the Wall from Guangzhou to Hong Kong and then to Shanghai, I have never encountered such a perfunctory version. Only two small abalones from the supermarket, two sea cucumbers the length of an index finger, two quail eggs, and mushrooms! Moreover, the supposed golden soup was missing. Can we at least respect its price? This dish cost €158! Well, I understand it can be pricey, but I expected better quality given the reputation. I won't comment on the other dishes and prices.

We dined at the restaurant on December 24 at 2:00 pm with a reservation and were the first guests of the afternoon. The hostess initially tried to seat our party of three, a Chinese family visiting from the United States, at a two-person corner table. A waiter even rotated the table to demonstrate how three people could fit, even though several comfortable four-seat sofa tables were available nearby. We had not yet sat down at this point. After we asked, we were finally allowed to move to one of the four-seat tables. This suggested that the staff were willing to go through extra effort rather than proactively offer a more suitable table. Shortly afterward, a Spanish couple arrived. The hostess offered them a choice between the four-seat tables and the two-person table that had originally been assigned to us. Although we do not speak Spanish, it was very clear from her body language that they were given priority seating. As a result, we felt a noticeable difference in how the hostess treated us compared to other guests. It was particularly disappointing because this is a Chinese restaurant run by a Chinese owner. The service throughout the meal was disorganized and unprofessional. Plates were not cleared after we finished unless we asked the server. Tea was not attended to; we had to pour it ourselves, and only when we asked did staff refill the teapot with hot water. When we asked to have our remaining food packed to go, we had to repeat the request before it was actioned. We only learned that it needed to be picked up at the hostess station after asking, and when we went there, the hostess had no idea that the packed food belonged to us. One server continued speaking Spanish to us despite knowing we could not understand it. We also noticed a nearby table of five Spanish guests had to remind the server that they had not been provided with napkins before starting their meal. The food was acceptable, but nothing stood out or left a memorable impression. Given the restaurant’s Michelin recommendation and online reputation for attentive service, the overall experience fell well below our expectations.
