Really nice place, the food is wonderful, everything was great. There are some tacos with duck that were delicious (didn’t take a picture). Also the service was so great, our waiter was so friendly and mostly all the people were very nice. A really nice surprise to meet upon this place. 100% recommend.

Really liked this place and will definitely return. I have a very good experience with restaurants part of the Tragaluz group from Barcelona and this was no different. We went quite early (for Madrid) but their pre-dinner menu is very good. Tried croquetas and the duck tacos and they did not disappoint. The desserts were delicious, especially the flan which was probably the best flan I have tried. Service was very friendly and relaxed and the place is just genuinely very nice. Look forward to going again.

It’s a great place, not only is it simple but nicely decorated, but the service is outstanding and the food is fresh and so tasteful you will want to keep going without a doubt! The olives to start off with are the most amazing ones I have ever had and the rest was simply fresh, light and great!

This modern Spanish restaurant in Madrid is hands down the best Spanish dining experience I’ve ever had. The patatas bravas with egg and shrimp were a standout—innovative and full of flavor - make sure you mix the potato and the sauce. The chargrilled steak was perfectly cooked, and the Ensaladilla rusa (Russian salad) was a delightful surprise. The quality of the food, combined with the modern twist on classic Spanish dishes, made for an unforgettable meal. Despite the high quality, it’s very affordable at just €30 per person with drinks. For anyone looking for an elevated Spanish dining experience at a great price, this place is a must-visit!

Went for a lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Seated by the hostess in a middle table for 2. Once we put down the menu no one came to ask if we were ready to order. The hostess passed us more than 2 times but didn’t bother to ask, nor the waitress. We waited for while, then we decided to call the waitress, and ordered our meals and beverages. I ordered a glass of wine and she came with a new bottle, poured the wine, spilled some on the table then left. Never came back to clean the spilled wine. The dishes were delicious, but the service could definitely be better. We ended up with a male server who was nice and friendly.

My night started at a different restaurant, but after not being sat/served for a long time, I decided to leave and come here as it was getting late and was the closest place that had what I was looking for. I got sat immediately and also served immediately as well. Not to mention the food came out extremely fast (faster than my drink). I work in the industry and I know that sometimes that could mean a bad thing, but I thought I’d still give it a shot. Unfortunately, my food was not good at all. Definitely had no flavour or actual taste (I ordered the truffle rigatoni). I was eager to try other food items as I’m sure I would enjoy them, but the kitchen was closed by that time. The bill was also rather expensive too. I would come back to see if the food here is better than the one quick chance I had this evening, but for now my experience was not as pleasurable as I’d hope. The staff was very polite though.

Hello my friends, I know it has been quite some time, but I'm coming at you with a Dan Hanis certified all-time great restaurant right here. Absolutely everything on this menu is delightful. I don't think you can go wrong anywhere. As I began my journey abroad, I roamed the streets of Madrid, and I happened to run into 4 lovely ladies. Catalina, Teresa, Alejandra, and the craziest of them all, my girlfriend Elizabeth! Elizabeth and I hadn't talked for a couple weeks since I left the family farming business. She was infuriated when she received the news that I was walking away from my destiny. She just didn't know if she could love someone who wasn't a farmer anymore. As I took a break from my cellular device, we hadn't talked since I left. Running into her in Spain was quite the surprise. She told me that I was just truly the greatest man in the world and that she would love me farmer or not. On her quest to find me, she became friends with these lovely ladies. To celebrate life we decided to have a lavish meal at Bar Tomate! Enough with the backstory, this restaurant is one of my favorites I've been to in the continent that is Europe. Sometimes it can get messy having a diverse menu, but Bar Tomate handles it with such class. To begin the night, I ordered a delicious Whiskey Sour (it reminded me of the beautiful fields of grain back in my homeland of the USA!). For my appetizer I ordered the ceviche which was absolutely mouthwatering. Every time I think of it, I immediately start to drool, so I try to limit myself from thinking of this incredible dish. The fish, onion, and avocado are just so well balanced with the acidic taste of the juice (I love juice).This dish makes it into the Dan Hanis Dish Hall of Fame. I cannot recommend this enough. For my entree, I ordered the chicken tikka masala. By no means was it the best I've ever had, but it was a delicious eat nonetheless. For dessert, after we'd been at the restaurant eating and drinking for a total of four hours, we ordered the brownie sundae. Bar Tomate had such a wonderful atmosphere, and the employees were in no rush to get us out of the door. To this day, Bar Tomate, gave me one of my favorite dining experiences, and I'll forever be grateful to them for it. It was wonderful to eat amazing food and make new friends. Fantastic service, food. Came for a brunch and the staff could not be more helpful, polite and generous. They even handed me champagne and pizza without me asking :-). Highly recommend!

Delicious food close to Calle Serrano and the Prado. We enjoyed it so much we ate there again when we swung back through Madrid on our way home.

Nice place, seems very popular with young women. Basically a pizza place... took me a while to figure it out the menu. Duck tacos are ok, but need spicy sauce. Pizzas are not so good. One with burrata and the other one with Spanish ham. Service not so great either.

Great environment, it's quiet enough for work or chat but also good for party. The menu is easy to choose and good for all kinds of choice. Very interesting and stylish modern European food. The food is very delicious and cheap. Good for breakfast/brunch or night bar. Service is great and friendly, food comes fast and warm.price is reasonably low and food portion is rather large. Bread and jam are nicely homemade and delicious.

One of the more expenisve bars in a fancy area of Madrid, but it lives up to the expectation. The best beef carpaccio I had in a long time.

Bar Tomate clearly has a strong food focus, and that'll be obvious to you the moment any of their dishes hit your tongue. Even their side of grilled vegetables was phenomenal! We had the tuna sashimi, which was delightful and topped in a sort of spicy aioli. We also ordered the burrata, sun-dried tomato and basil pizza, which was very unique and flavorful, however, I think I would've liked it more with mozzarella subbed for the cold burrata. The service was really friendly and professional at Bar Tomate, and the decor of the restaurant and bar were modern and inviting. This place is popular, which is why it's not cheap and also why you'll want a reservation if you're planning to eat anytime after 8:30pm. Our bill came to €74 including dinner, drinks, and dessert, which I feel is a fair price for the experience.

Very good restaurant I took the solomillo which is a steak and the meat was very good but i must warn you that the portion is very small, and they re some potatoes with it but tiny portions again. If your are not very hungry but you want good food this is the meal. Other then this their pizza is good and they have good appetizers like tiny tacos that are very good. Very good restaurant, nice staff, definitely recommend. My meal was 22€ without alcohol

Our hotel did not do breakfast so we searched for a suitable restaurant and this was close. Impressive all the way, we could not ask for a better brunch, all fresh produce in a delightful setting.

Bar Tomate is a great spot for lunch. It was busy at 3pm when we got there. We ate our way through a cornucopia of dishes including ham croquettes, pizza with ham, roast beef toast, langoustines, and guacamole with chips.

The place was lovely decorated, the drinks are great , but the food is ok. I was pretty disappointed that they have a very limited menu if you go after 4pm.

I stumbled upon here on my first night in Madrid. I was worried about not speaking Spanish, and was thrilled to discover that English is not a problem here. Was also worried about eating by myself but here I felt quite comfortable. Food was very, very good. Especially tasty is an appetizer where slices of smoked fish were served on top of slices of heirloom tomato. That is one bold, unpretentious dish. Water was charged as an extra but don't be alarmed --- in Europe, water always come in a bottle, and you always get charged.

The truffle rigatoni is one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Pear and squash ravioli is equally as yummy! I definitely recommend either the nachos or fried artichokes to start and you can't go wrong with any one of their pizza's... a little pricey but favorite restaurant in Madrid when I want some great Italian/American food.

We ate at Bar Tomate last year when we were in Madrid, and absolutely loved it. The food is great, ambiance fun and staff attentive. So this year, when I realized my family and I would be celebrating Christmas Eve in Madrid, I made a reservation for 5 people at 9 pm. We received a an on-line confirmation as well. You can imagine our disappointment when we got to the restaurant and saw that it was closed... on Xmas Eve, with no other opportunities available!!! Everything was either closed or full and the streets were empty. We were pretty much left wandering the streets of Madrid looking for someplace to go to. My daughter called the restaurant on the 26th to explain the situation and ask how we could have gotten a confirmation for dinner on the 24th and when we got there they were closed. It was obviously a terrible oversight and the manager could not have been more apologetic. We were invited to come back and dine, complimentary on them, any night before we left Madrid. We had a fabulous dinner the night before we left. The management personally came to our table to apologize for the snafu on Xmas Eve, they were sincerely upset about the mishap, and in my opinion handled a disappointing situation with great customer service. Once again, I say that the food is terrific, ambiance upscale lively and staff very attentive. I will definitely go back on my next trip to Madrid. This is a restaurant that cares about pleasing their customers!

The decor, the ambiance, the bar, there's nothing not to L-O-V-E about this place. We shared all the dishes and everything was pretty solid. Not to die for but good enough to hold a grip on the 5 stars. Bread with tomato, tomatos with sauce, Spanish tortilla, croquettes, rigatoni with truffle, carpaccio, all in all, a great place to have good food and great company (or find some great company).

I'm from nyc. This place could easily have been in TriBeCa except food was great and price was very reasaonable. Fresh seafood, delicious oxtail, good inexpensive wine, delicious deserts. Super nice waitress who spoke just enough English. No reservation made But only waited 10 minutes. Affirmed my faith in Yelp worldwide and solidified my love of Madrid. Highest recommendation.

Enjoying my 5th meal here. It's the only place I've been to 5x in Madrid. I love it here! Just had the tuna sashimi and it was amazing! As an American and even worse a NY-ear from NYC I'm always skeptical but they have won me over!!! Following the sashimi with pizza and steak! What more could you ask for?!?

I came here to meet friends. The food was very good. The staff took a little while to warm up but were friendly. This place has a warm comfortable feel and we spent a long time here. They have free Wi-Fi (you need to sign up) which is useful if you don't want to use data. The staff speak good English and let me try to speak in Spanish. try some of the starters if you have room. We had the croquetas, queso provolone and bruchetta. Filing and tasty. Come here when you have plenty of time to relax.

Tuna cheeks with tomatoes, lomo, well priced Spanish wine and truffle cheese rigatoni encapsulated my experience at Bar Tomate. The space is decorated nicely, with industrial touches that make it feel upscale. Close to additional bars and clubs of you want to extend the evening. Parking is available on the street or in nearby garages.

Great warm atmosphere. Wonderful service and food. This place is full of people by 10pm so get there early....8pm.

A great tapas joint located in the fashionable Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid, like almost every other place in Madrid, this place doesn't come alive until after 10PM. The food is great, don't miss out on the croquettes - mushrooms were my favorite, the patatas were AMAZING. Another favorite, the tortilla - wow creamy and delicious. The Pan con tomate could have used a little salt to make it perfect. Another miss - the dessert, the apple tartine was not very sweet. There are servers who speak English so do not fret if you can't speak Spanish, this is definite a gem in the Madrid casual but trendy dining scene.

This became our favorite restaurant in Madrid. The foods are great and the atmosphere is very relaxing. If you come at night, the music very fun. We had the shrimp tempura and ravioli. Always yummy. The service is excellent.

Wonderful rustic setting, with a lively, and yet romantic setting. Great wine options for a fair price, and the food is amazing. The restaurant can host small gatherings for birthdays or can be an intimate dining experience for two. Customer service superb as well. Very happy to dine here while in Madrid.

Modern cuisine cooked when fresh ingredients. Most of the dishes are based on tomatoes (hence the name of the restaurant). Everything looks very tasty and fresh. They also have very good cocktails.

Maybe it was an off night, but the service was awful. The food was just okay, but the service was extraordinarily disappointing. We were initially given only one menu. We've asked for a second and the second menu was different from the first.Service was very slow and attentive throughout the meal.this was only our second meal in Madrid, but I assume there are much better places.The restaurant was highly recommended from two sources and it seems to be resting on his laurels and not making the effort. It seems like they may have been understaffed, but they made no accommodation for how awful the service was.

Great decor ambiance and food. This is a chic restaurant concept and local crowd. A must every time we visit madrid. They also have restaurants in Barcelona and trendy hotel. Highly recommended
