Restaurante Barra Alta Madrid

We ordered 4 starters. The baby squids were amazing; we enjoyed every bite. The scallop and lobster tartare didn’t lag behind; it was awesome. The tomato salad was fresh and refreshing, and the bravas were not too spicy and perfectly cooked. For mains, we ordered grilled squid which was very tender, a Thai-style rooster fish which was the best dish of the night, and meatballs that were tasty and hearty. We closed our dinner with chocolate cake. The taste of the chocolate was intense and not too sweet. The olive oil and salt worked very well with the cake.

Barra Alta is an amazing modern Spanish cuisine Michelin rated restaurant in the heart of Barrio Salamanca, serving a range of seafood and traditional meat dishes, it's a perfect location for everything from dinner dates to business meetings. This review was written after my third time dining at Barra Alta, at this point, I had refined my favorite dishes to the Croquetas Boletas, the Mar y Montaña eggs dish, the Pluma Iberica pork steak, and the excellent Steak Tartare. For our desserts, we picked the all-time favorites 4 Cheese Tarta de Queso and the Crema Catalana. The atmosphere and interior design of the restaurant is quite modern and is generous in space meaning there are no cramped tables or issues with acoustics when serving a full house. Moreover, the service is absolutely stellar, with attentive and welcoming staff!

We absolutely enjoyed our dinner. The food was simply delicious, especially we enjoyed the fresh seafood. We also asked for wine recommendation and the sommelier recommended a bottle based on our preference which was amazing! The team and the chef are doing excellent job.

The food was lovely! Light yet filling. The restaurant is beautiful and the servers were attentive.

The food was *so* good and the caliber of restaurant was *so* high, we expected better service. We had to request refills several times and the olive oil was forgotten numerous times. It may seem silly, but for a restaurant this good (where they include a tip in the bill), we had really hoped to be treated better. And we’ve been to this restaurant before. I can only hope that they do better next time.

I stopped by for a light lunch. It took a long time for them to take my drink order and even longer to take my food order. They served me bread and olives at the table without asking if I wanted them (I discovered on the bill that I was charged for it), and they also charged me for the regular water I requested. The food was really delicious, but the overall experience did not match the cost and the recommendations the restaurant has.

We came here for dinner the other night. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent, for the most part. There was one "salad" we ordered that was heavy on mayo and no one liked it. But other dishes, including oysters, ceviche, seafood tartare, and pork pluma, were all delicious. We also didn't enjoy the cheesecake, which tasted like manchego or parmesan, but our Spanish friend told us that is the style in Madrid. We ordered a lemon ice cream to cleanse our palates, which was very tasty. Would definitely return!
