Restaurante Benares Madrid

A very beautiful restaurant, the ceiling especially. We got the tasting menu without wine pairing and it was very tasty. At first it looks like small portions but they are extremely filling!! The Pescado Tikka was a surprisingly my favorite dish. We had heard cocktails are good and they did not disappoint!

The food was delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. The decor is beautiful. My only complaint was the service. I was expecting a much better service from a restaurant of this caliber. They weren’t attentive if we needed more wine or if we had finished our food and the empty plates stayed on the table longer than necessary. They also took very long to serve the main dish.

the 59 euro parampara meal was very fulfilling, it's a great intro to someone who hasn't eaten indian cuisine ever for indians there were several non-veg options and no chillies it was great for me but since my brother was vegetarian and indian probably not the best place for him taste and spice wise

I was truly excited to go to this restaurant. Service and atmosphere are good. A nice touch was the papadum and amuse bouche offered in the beginning. No issues there. Problem is food is so bland. I say this in the nicest way possible, but the flavors were not reminiscent of Indian cuisine. There was a lack of salt and spice (in general) with some of the dishes. I was told the vegetable curry was reminiscent of a “South Indian Thai style curry” which sounded good. I received it and was immediately in dismay. No pepper or spice visible in sight, but more importantly, could not taste any flavor. Vegetables were cooked well, not too soft or not too raw. That was a positive to it. My partner agreed with me as he stated his dish was bland and nothing notable. I guess I just expected more from a restaurant that’s well rated. Not worth a Michelin star, and I would go to a more authentic Indian restaurant next time.

I was impressed with my experience at Benares Madrid. The food is exceptional, both in taste and quality, with generous portion sizes that leave you completely satisfied. The naans are truly standout..melting effortlessly in your mouth. Everything on the menu is fab! You cannot go wrong with any choice. Brownie points for atmosphere which is very inviting and the service is top notch, making for an overall delightful dining experience. I will definitely be returning to enjoy this culinary gem again!

There are many Indian Restaurant, but being an India I can make out if it's run by an Indian or Bangladeshi or Pakistani. This is definitely run by an Indian and must be having an Indian chef to my best of knowledge. Though I didn't ask but the taste was authentic. Of course, not that Indian Spciy to cater local customers, but very much close to authentic. Ambience was awesome. They kept all grains, spices on display for non Indian knowledge, which is good gesture. The restaurant is Michelin Rated and their service and taste confirms the same.

They truly deserve the Michelin star. The food, the experience, the service, everything was amazing. I highly recommend doing the tasting menu.

This is most definitely one of the top Indian places in Madrid. The only reason I am giving 4/5 is that it is very pricey for what it is. I have had equally good Indian food in London for half the price (and it's London). To reiterate if you fancy great Indian food maybe for a special occasion this is the place.

This is the restaurant to be in town if you need good food and great service. From the moment you enter the restaurant till you see it until your appetizers come and your entrée! If there was a couple of more stars that we give it. and rice was like out of the world even though I'm not even the rice eater. I like nan. . And Gustuvo was the manager on duty and just excellent. I had the $19 lunch menu and was a lot of food. Appetizer entrée choices dessert and soft drink.

Went in with great expectations hoping to enjoy the Michelin star experience I have had in some others I have visited but it did not live up to that expectation.. The fish was not cooked very well . .The dal had a lot of cream .The chicken tikka was creamy too ..The first starter ( dhokla) was dry though the sauce was very good that went with it ..The Kerala sauce had something missing.. The rice was cooked well but that is not the experience I am looking for .. The yoghurt desert like kulfi was excellent but the barfi fell short of taste. The decor was good .The wait staff very polite

We dined at this restaurant during our stay in Madrid. I'm kind of new to Indian cuisine, but am now a big fan. The only other Indian restaurant I've eaten at was Dishoom in London. I think this restaurant was every bit as good. Equally good was the service. Possibly the most attentive service we've encountered in Spain. That's a big part of our experience. I know Benares is relatively new, so I wish them success, as this is a top notch establishment.

Amazing service and food! I am a foodie and total recommend it. Just avoid the desserts but not the cocktails. Both mocktails and cocktails are amazing!! Appetizers and dinner was freshly made. The whole wheat roti was dry but no big deal!!

An incredible culinary experience. Food was tastefully presented with incredible flavors. Sunjay was amazing with recommendations and service.

A very talented chef lives here. Not cheap, but definitely worth it. 40 euros for tasting menu. We had the tasting menu - potato cakes, kebabs (1 kofta 1 hake), chicken tikka masala, lentil Dahl, and choc brownie with coconut ice cream. It was all excellent with exception of the brownie which had a weird texture and the Dahl was too creamy. But then I'm a Londoner so I'm holding this restaurant to a higher curry standard; because it was good enough to take the criticism. Highly recommended.

This is the best Indian food I've ever had and I've been to some. Benares is a Michelin restaurant so expect the bill to reflect that. The food, the setting and the service are all top notch. I highly recommend it.

Where do I begin? Firstly, I have to say that I live right next to Little India in Los Angeles and have eaten my fair share of Indian food in my life. So my standards are quite high. Benares is an upscale Indian restaurant in Chamberi, in Madrid. My friend and I walked in and were greeted by a coat check, then led to our reserved table inside. The service was impeccable, as was the food. My friend and I started with the complimentary papadums with a variety of sauces - delicious! We also had this interesting cracker-type thing filled with sauce. I have no idea what it was since it was explained in Spanish but I loved it. For the dishes, we ordered chicken tikka masala to share as well as fresh cheese, rice, naan, and a beef starter. Everything we ate was impeccable. Flavorful and delicious - and a tad too much food. It was spectacular, though. Nothing was spicy, which surprised me - but I guess they had to cater to Spanish taste buds. Yes, it's a little more than I would typically pay for Indian, but with this kind of guaranteed quality and service - I'd definitely return for a nice night out!

This was highly recommended to us by our close friends & I must say it was up to mark. Beautiful ambience, service was fabulous (our server's name was Sanjay). He explained us the entire menu. I have taken pics of everything.....you must try this place t enjoy the delicious Indian cuisine with a modern twist.

One of the best Indian restaurant with a delicious menu we have had in Europe. The lamb biryani was my personal favourite. Thank you Benares for the experience.

We are Indians who live in NYC and travel A LOT. This place beats any Indian restaurant in NYC, hands down! And it can hold its own amongst the best five stars in Mumbai. I should note that we cook a lot and that we are picky vegetarians. The spicing is perfect and doesn't overwhelm the flavors of the veggies. The bhappa Doi dessert is a stand out. The pumpkin curry disappoints but everything else was very well done.
