"At Santa Clara, Carolina Gómez Gallego serves traditional family recipes honed over generations. Among the most iconic plates are chile en nogada — a typical Poblano delicacy featuring a stuffed chile smothered in a creamy walnut-based sauce, garnished with pomegranate seeds — and pollo al barro, or a whole chicken baked in a clay pot (order this one at least five hours in advance). Come early for classic breakfasts like huevos a la hierba santa and huevos al albañil. [$$]" - Tirza Bonifazi, Verónica Jiménez Salcedo

I really enjoyed the authentic Mexican food. The empanadas and horchata were delicious. The mole was superior. Will eat there again. I returned and had the nagoda dish, it was very flavorful and complex. Despite it being a more expensive dish, I would still highly recommend it.

We came in January 2020 for Lamb at dinner time, it was fantastic, so of course we had to return when we came back to huatulco this week, this time for breakfast. The enfrijoladas with Tasajo was delicious, and we highly recommend the horchata, it was frosty and delish! If you like spice, request the red salsa;)

We kept walking past this place and finally decided to try it. We’ve been missing out all this time. I had the Chile Relleno Mixto and my wife had the stuffed chicken breast. Both were excellent. Portions were good. Prices were fair. Service excellent. English is spoken if that matters to you. Will definitely be back.

Tamales were mediocre. Just as good, taste and texture, as a frozen one from Walmart. Service was great, the waitress is a a hustler taking care of the whole floor herself.

We’re Canadians visiting Huatulco for the first time and every place has been very welcoming EXCEPT for this restaurant. It felt as though because we’re tourists that they did not want to serve us. After 30 minutes of sitting and waiting for just a coffee my husband approached the server and he said no café but then continued to pour for all the locals around us. The women at the omelet stand laughed when I ordered and were very apparently talking about me as I was standing right there. Very rude. We felt very uncomfortable, put some pesos on the table and walked out. It’s sad to be treated differently because we’re tourists. Hopefully they can be more welcoming and kind in the future and not judge people for being white.
