Restaurante Casal da Penha

Wonderful dinner at Casal da Penha on our last night in Funchal! I was able to make a reservation directly through the restaurant website and we got a table on the upstairs terrace which was perfect. The servers were very helpful and attentive. We had the grilled limpets for an appetizer with grilled octopus and espada with shrimp for the main dish. The food portions were generous and everything was delicious for a memorable evening!

a very nice restaurant that seems to have a lot of returning customers. the service was excellent, the staff was helpful, some were very funny. the food, though, was a bit pricey for what we got. the seafood pasta was the only dish that felt like it’s worth the price, other than that the rest of what we ordered just felt ok, the chicken we could have made better at home. but in general it’s a really nice atmospheric place, we had a really nice time.

Omg I was so lucky to get a table for one as I walked in, they are fullly booked and they then said I could have a table for 2 hours. Sooo sweet. The fillet steak was amazing, soft, tender, sooo well cooked. Beautiful with generous sides as well. The service, hospitality, everything was superb. Best restaurant in Madeira by far. I’ll have to come back for dessert. Thank you so much ♥️♥️

Incredible melt in your mouth steak! We arrived 45 minutes early for our reservation and the host graciously accommodated us and even asked if we preferred inside or outside seating. The wait staff was so friendly with an excellent sense of humor that added to our enjoyment. Everyone loved their meal, I see why it’s Michelen recommended.

When a restaurant is 30 years in Madeira, better listen. Good service. Food is of good quality and well deserved Michelin Gourmand bib 2025. Keep it up! I had fish of the day and for starter shrimps in garlic olive oil.

Absolutely delicious! Sat on terrace. Had the grilled bread with the octopus vinaigrette, which has chopped onions and red peppers with pieces of tender octopus in an olive oil vinaigrette. A star starter! Loved the huge grilled Tiger shrimp which came with 4 pieces(2 tigers split in half) and it was decadent. Also enjoyed the sea bass which as succulent and tasty. Ended the amazing food with desserts of chocolate cake with ganache and ice cream as apple tart. Attentive service and should be a Michelin spot!

Amazing hospitality, the crow is so nice and professional, the food is amazing. They’re using the best ingredients. , red wine - CastelloDNUMAO - delicious, I walk by this restaurant and only when I walk backwards, understand this is a Michelin restaurant and they earned it easily 🫶🏾🥰 I will definitely come back when I will be back to Madeira

Ordered scabbard fish with fried banana(too sour with passion fruit for me) and my wife scabbard fish with shrimps(I needed to order that). Also grilled bread with garlic(very nice). The concierge excellent and funny guy. Recommend book in advance. View surrealistic with the huge hotel in background.
