El Campero

"A renowned culinary name in the local area where everything revolves around the famous red “almadraba” tuna. It also offers an extensive à la carte featuring an array of rice dishes and fish priced by weight, alongside a tasting menu (El Susurro de los Atunes) enabling guests to try different parts and cuts of this legendary fish. A superb tapas bar completes the picture." - Michelin Inspector

1. You need a reservation for this restaurant, because is full every day. :) 2. The inside is quite noisy so if you want something more quiet choose an outside table 3. Regarding the food, i think everything is delicious, so very hard to choose the best think. If you like tuna, then you will be in heaven here. 4. Necessarily try the chocolate egg for postres :) 5. Amazing vibe and service. Top

Best place there is to eat tuna. Worth just yo go for the toast with tunna and truffle. Very nice to try several parts of the tunna. Service was impeccable and fast. It is an expensive restaurant placed on a humble neighborhood.

The food is fabulous but the restaurant itself is a big disappointment. The host had a terrible demeanor when half the guests arrived 10 minutes earlier. He actually made my friends wait for me to arrive instead of providing them with a table for drinks consumption. A great opportunity to make people comfortable and make money for the restaurant. We arrived a whole group of 8 people and his demeanor continued to be bad and unprofessional. So we were sitting on a table for 4 people, with high chairs and from them everyone was unhappy and uncomfortable. We are 8 professional people. Some are lawyers, architect, accountants and I made my booking specifically asked to dine in the main room. No one in these reviews actually said nothing about how uncomfortable all those chairs are. Terrible experience and so I would go back I don’t think that anyone who spend that kind of money at a restaurant needs to be sitting in high chairs. A total disrespect and disappointment to the patrons.

El Campero is hailed as the best bluefin tuna restaurant in the world, offering an exceptional dining experience that even includes Japanese-style preparations. Personally, though, I think the Western way of enjoying it is the best! If you ever visit southern Spain, this is a restaurant well worth trying. Highly recommended!

Incredible!!! Absolutely incredible!! Our lunch was so nice. From the warm greetings from the hostess to our very congenial waiter and the beautiful dining room it was an outstanding experience. We loved the tuna lasagna the chef sent to the table and the perfectly crispy calamari we ordered to start. We had a variety of dishes for our main course. The tuna parrillada was outstanding. It features six different cuts of tuna. Each is perfectly prepared and the presentation is outstanding. We somehow found a spot for dessert. Be sure to save room. It’s worth every calorie. The chocolate textures featured dark chocolate in a variety of way the tocino del cielo was truly heavenly. The white chocolate egg with the lively passion fruit sauce was divine. The Millefeuille was so perfectly light that it almost floated from the plate. We’ve already made reservations to return!

I’m a tuna lover, so when I discovered I’m close to the Tuna Temple I couldn’t help it and went with my family. Started with some Dried Tuna and Raw mix platter, both amazing. Then the Mix of grilled tuna, from the less fattier to the fattiest, amazing. And then the egg desert is smth different. The service was 10/10 for real, the guy explained about the region wines Manzanilla and Fino, suggested to try them. The kids had a delicious beef steak and jamon croquettes. It’s a bit pricey, that’s true, but you pay for good quality. The bill was 300 euro for the 4 of us with a bottle of wine of 50€

We have been to El Campero a number of time over the past 3 years. We have recommended the restauraunt to dozens of people, all of whom took up the suggestion and all had an equally fantastic experience. Sadly, We did not have that anticipated "fantastic experience" when I went with my wife on Friday 4th July. Despite me adding notes to my booking, through their website, explaining that it was "Our 38th Wedding Anniversary....", the restaurant staff advised that there was no record of this information being provided. Undeterred, we proceeded to commence our night of fun. "A bottle of Laurent Perrier please", I asked. We were then given 2 large wine goblets from which to drink the €130 bottle of Champagne. Asking for these to be replaced by more appropriate champagne flutes was greeted with total indifference. Surprised, I hoped the rest of the night would not be marred by this oversight. We were, however, very surprised, that in order to refresh our glasses with the Champagne we had to do it ourselves!!! Again, possibly an oversight. Now for the food..... The Tuna Bruscetta with Truffles starter was delicious. We then ordered the Tuna Tataki - As we always do! What turned up was the usual Tuna - Albeit a bit warm for our tastes - Accompanied by a stack of Watercress!!!! The Watercress was held on the plate by some dabs of some white sauce. Gone were the stacks of Ginger Wasabi, Seaweed, Carrot and White Turnip - Which always acompanies this favourite of dishes. Shocked, I asked the waiter where were the acompanying delicacies? "Oh! if you want them, I can go and get them from the chef". Shocked, we said yes please - This dish is naked without them - And what on earth is the pile of Watercress about? A few minutes later a long plate with Ginger, Wasabi, Seaweed, Turnip but no Carrot. This was fine - But we were still amazed that they served up a €45 dish without the elements that make it special. We then ordered Red Snapper with Patatas Las Pobres which was fantastic. We stayed a little longer to finish off our Self-Serve Champagne and I had a Gin & Tonic. I specifically asked for a Schweppes or Fever Tree, but all they have now is Bliss! And Bliss is my least favourite tonic of all time. Hey Ho!!! So, what was supposed to be the finale of our special day turned out not to be the gastranomic and wonderful service filled experience we have grown accustomed to enjoy. Instead, we received lack lustre service, poor attentiveness, poor attention to detail on one of their most expensive dishes and an overall sense of dissappointment. Having travelled for 1 and 1/2 hours by car to get to the experience we left with an overwhelming feeling of dissappointment and sadness. It was no longer going to be that special place we so looked forward to travelling to, both as a couple and with our friends. We really would like to know what has gone wrong? At over €150 per head, you would expect more. Making me pour the Champagne is not how you will continue to be in the Michelin Guide. Especially when you wanted to pour them into Wine Goblets!!!! Changing the quality and presentation of one of your most expensive dishes for something totally inferior is not going to help either. We are, in all honesty, gutted that this place, our favourite restaurant in Spain, could let itself down so badly.

We had bluefin tuna assorted sashimi which was fabulous. We also had the red snapper rockfish special. It was so fresh and delicious. Our waiter recommended both of these dishes and they were excellent. We are from America and one of our friends wanted a cafe Latte so he asked the waiter for coffee with chocolate. The waiter asked what kind of chocolate had brought coffee with chocolate and cream. We tried two desserts (carrot cake and a lemon cream puff pastry). Both were very good.
