Nice classic restaurant interior, but the pretentiousness of the style and menu are let down completely by the quality and presentation of the food. Solomillo con foie was flavourless - the steak was very tender, but there was no seasoning and the sauce was insipid. Perched on a couple of red peppers straight out of the jar or tin (cold). The chips were terrible - half were raw, half burnt on the edges, swimming in oil - the nearby supermarket sells McCains, they need to buy some and learn. Merluza con almejas - yes, 2 almejas – was definitely overcooked and probably previously frozen. For dessert, the cheesecake (after the main course) was surprisingly good, but the mille-feuilles simply served to show that the kitchen has no idea how to make or cook flaky pastry. The restaurant was almost full the Saturday afternoon we visited, and the one waiter (not really aided by part time MaitreD/owner?) was run off his feet. As it all took ages, I imagine the kitchen was way understaffed too. Before the owners come back and blame it on the lockdown, there is no excuse in a town with the unemployment rate of Mieres not to be fully staffed. The good reviews and the certificate on the wall are all from 3 or 4 years ago – perhaps the owners have changed? Definitely not up to the standard they aspire to.
