El Risco

"If you’re looking to eat somewhere special then look no further, as this restaurant occupies the house designed and decorated by the multi-faceted artist César Manrique for his brother. The decor here is simple but with a subtle maritime-inspired feel, but what stands out most of all are the magnificent views of the Playa de Famara, the surrounding mountains and, peering out across the ocean, the outline of the bucolic island of La Graciosa. Local fish and seafood as well as rice dishes are the main highlights on the menu, although we can also highly recommend the delicious daily specials. Best to book ahead as it is usually very busy!" - Michelin Inspector

We visited for a couple of meals during our visit to Famara last week. The serving team and wonderful, entertaining and welcoming and the food is exceptional. On my second visit I had a baby squid starter that was cooked to perfection and a fish stew main that was so delicious in the most divine broth. My partner loved her meals too and was especially happy with the goats cheese cheesecake. The flavour is wonderful and not too sweet. We’ll be back as soon as we can book another holiday for more great food and great wine.

Honestly, I think this place is overrated, mainly due to the service. The head waiter is not at all pleasant and doesn't seem to care about making your experience enjoyable. They are also very slow to even take your order or bring the menu. The black rice is very ordinary, nothing special. There are definitely better options on the island.

Manrique designed the interior of this house for his bro. Blue frame on white wall is marine-oriented and beautiful. The fish of the day is super good for us, well grilled. Fish soup was delicious and seems good for health. Squid was fresh and its sauce was novel but very good.

Consistently delicious over time. I keep getting back at each holiday. I like the service, too. The whole staff is doing amazing work here. Keep it up!

The food was really good and not too pricey considering the beautiful views of the ocean/ beach from inside the restaurant. We managed to book a table for 5 people the day before so we were lucky as it got really busy as the night went on. We had mussels for starter, an octopus and belly pork stew, fried squid, and fish of the day which was HUGE! Didn't have room for dessert because we were too full! Service was good and we really enjoyed the whole experience of dining here. Well worth the 45mins drive to eat here :)

Excellent experience! The food was amazing and the staff so friendly that we haven’t experienced nothing close on Lanzarote. We came with 2 small kids, they totally take care of them. It was now even as pricey as we expected. Great! The view from the restaurant is almost breathtaking. Really recommend the visit.

Overall a nice experience. Friendly staff and good food - felt like it was reasonably authentic too. Our main was quite small so we were still a bit hungry after that. Food was tasty though. Beautiful view out over the sea.

We have travelled extensively on Lanzarote, over the course of many visits. This is the best restaurant we've found on the island. Not very cheap, but great value for money and a superb location. We will go back again, as soon as we're able... 30.03.2022: So we finally managed to get back to the Island and booked a table at El Risco. This was the firstnpart of the experience and was very professional and easy: online booking now, followed by an email confirmation of the enquiry, then of the booking itself. Apart from the fact that the food was as excellent as last time, what really stood out on this visit was the charm of the waiting staff. I‘m not sure whether we missed them first time around, but there were Manrique works on the walls, adding to the authentic atmosphere. The presentation remains superb and we felt that the price level was no longer high, compred to other places on Lanzarote. All in all, another great experience and we will definitely be back a thrid time.
