I was concerned by previous reviews but the cancellation policy meant I was too late to change venue. Coming to Spain one is looking forward to sampling the many interesting and varied wines from this region. However, the wine list is nearly exclusively French and the mark ups quite un-Spanish. Perhaps to make up the small number of covers, everything is overpriced. I drink mainly French wine at home so I was not looking for more of the same. However, there was one Spanish white wine which, coincidentally, was the same wine we had ordered the day before at another Michelin restaurant in the area. The only difference was that it was 19 Euros there, and 49 Euros at this restaurant. We ordered it and then, perhaps to persuade us we had bought a very special wine, the waitress opened it away from our table and tasted it in two separate glasses, as if we had ordered a white burgundy from a decade or so ago. However, one does not open wines away from the table, nor taste them away from the diners. Essentially, one felt one was being taken for a ride before the meal began. At the four other tables in the restaurant, little wine was being drunk for reasons one can guess at. The menu itself was 65 euros but bread was not included; another first. The ingredients were also of minimal value eg, a cold potato in a vanilla broth, a minute ‘neck’ of a hake, mushrooms, etc. Cheese was extra, and we did not dare ask the cost of this so just finished the menu, ducked coffee and paid a bill which was over twice that of the Michelin restaurant of the day before, where the generous servings required the waiter to tell to stop ordering more dishes!! Not an hospitable experience.
