I celebrated my birthday there, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting — the perfect place for a special occasion. The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. You can really taste the care and creativity in each bite. It’s clear that a lot of thought goes into both the ingredients and the execution. The service was just as impressive. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. They really made me feel celebrated and taken care of on my special day. A special thank you to Chef Andres for such an incredible culinary experience. You made my birthday dinner beyond memorable!

Sensibly followed Google reviews and walked in here, thankfully they had room at the bar with a view of the kitchen. We allowed them to select the dishes as we’re not familiar with local cuisine. Food overall was fabulous, mainly fish, great and helpful service, highly recommended. Little chicken was on dry side, cooked a tad too long, but everything else was great.

This place will blow your mind away! It was so incredibly good that we decided to go there twice in two days. The food is very much fish based, and every dish is as extraordinary as the next. The fusion cuisine ensures that you’re not eating the same food that many of the top restaurants serve, but as there are significant Galicia influences, you’re still getting a taste of the local delicacies. The environment is also special, with the staff being really nice and approachable. We sat at the bar and had great conversations with the staff as they prepared our meal. Five stars also goes to the chef (Andres) who is running the show and who is as humble as his food is extraordinary. What a hit! Won’t be surprised if next time we come, they have a Michelin star. Hard to recommend any one dish, as they were all extraordinary and we pretty much ate the entire menu.

Fresh Michelin restaurant, first you need to make a reservation. We tried almost all the signature dishes, and Chef Andre must have experience working in three regions of Europe, East Asia and South America, because he and his team have combined Japanese seafood cuisine, Hong Kong-style roast pork (using professional oven equipment 😍) and South American sauces very well, and finally of course the Spanish TAPAS plating. Every dish is very fresh, they will explain to you the ingredients and how to eat them, and use fluent English. The disadvantage is that for me personally, it is still a bit salty. I know that Spanish people have a strong taste 🥶 but Michelin restaurants are very important to maintain the taste of the ingredients themselves. I noticed that some guests commented that the dishes were small, but this is the standard of Michelin restaurants. If you have tried the Michelin three-star restaurant in Donostia-San Sebastian, you will know that you are already very lucky! 🤪

Rich and surprisingly creative flavors, fantastic textures, great service and cozy atmosphere. Exceltion: We didnt like the chicken at all; it had a quite bitter taste (it was burnt too much), and the cole slaw was extremely acidic as well. It seemed like it came from a different kitchen prepared by a different crew (it didnt). The fish which were prepared like tinned fish reminded me of tinned fish sold by Aldi, like a flawless upgraded version. Rest of the dishes were amazing including desserts.

Outstanding Experience at Gaio Restaurant I had a memorable dinner with my partner at Gaio Restaurant. I highly recommend booking a table in advance, as it’s a popular spot. The bill came to €147, which was reasonable considering the high-quality ingredients and the care put into each dish. The food was exceptional, with bold flavors and well-crafted presentations. We ordered: Bonito in escabeche a la minute with merkén and orange Huelva prawns in their own broth Lourenzá beans in minestrone broth Clams with asparagus wok Local squid with codium and seaweed chimichurri All the dishes were impressive, but the Bonito stood out with its intense yet delicate flavor. The beans were spectacular, and the prawns were equally remarkable. The wine list is extensive, and the staff demonstrated great knowledge, answering our questions and guiding us through the options. We chose a Ribeiro white wine featuring treixadura and albariño from Portugal — an excellent choice. For dessert, we tried two of their three options: Chicha morada and Choco lúcuma. Both were delicious and pleasantly surprising, featuring innovative ingredients. The service was flawless. The staff was professional and attentive, asking about allergies, intolerances, and personal preferences before offering tailored recommendations. The restaurant’s ambiance is spacious yet cozy, with original décor and a very pleasant atmosphere. Despite the tables being relatively close, they still provide privacy, making it an excellent spot for a romantic dinner or celebrating a special occasion. We'll definitely return to Gaio to explore more of their menu — and, of course, to enjoy the Bonito again!

Unfortunately, we only took a few pictures. Each dish was better than the previous one. The food was fun and tasty. All the dishes had some fun Asian/Peruvian twist to them. Definitely worth a try if you're a bit tired of the traditional Galician dishes. Price wise was pretty standard for a chef's choice menu, though some may say it's a big high for Galician standard. I personally think it's worth every penny considering the quality/creativity of the food.

Most Memorable Meal of the Year This restaurant truly went above and beyond. Despite needing to leave quickly, the staff and chef ensured we received all our dishes promptly without sacrificing quality. The sommelier was exceptional, and every dish was a masterpiece with perfectly balanced portions. The aubergine dish, in particular, was unforgettable—I’ll be dreaming about it for a long time! If you’re visiting this region, this spot is an absolute must.
